Women are too often taught that the feelings of the people around them are their responsibility and they're supposed to make everyone feel better. If you caused the hurt feelings then you should atone. If you didn't then you should have enough respect for the other person to allow them to atone. This has nothing specifically to do with gender, but it does tend to affect women more. The attitude that women exist to make everyone feel good holds both genders back. Let people be people.
