Remember, weddings aren't just about the perfect dress or the stunning venue. They're about the laughter that fills the air, the tears that fall, and the love that is palpable in every glance, every touch, and every word. I hope these photos remind you of the beauty that can be found in these simple, yet profoundly meaningful moments.

My journey as a wedding photographer is deeply rooted in my extensive experience as a photojournalist. I spent several years working for regional and national newspapers and news agencies, where my role was to capture stories through my lens. As a photojournalist, I quickly learned to anticipate moments, to always be ready to capture something unexpected, and to tell a story with a single image.

But my photojournalist days are gone. Transferring my skills from photojournalism to wedding photography was a natural progression. The ability to capture candid moments, to tell a story through images, to create a narrative - it all translated seamlessly. I brought with me the sense of urgency, the instinct for storytelling, and the keen eye for detail that my previous role had instilled in me.

The very skills that made me a successful photojournalist are what makes me stand out as a wedding photographer. Every wedding is a new story, a new chapter in someone's life, and I am privileged to be able to document these moments in a way that will be remembered for generations. This truly is the most rewarding job, and I am so grateful for the path that led me here.

My style of photography is heavily influenced by my background as a photojournalist. I aim to tell stories through my images and to do so with an honest and candid approach. I specialize in capturing the natural, unplanned moments that truly reflect the emotions of the day. Rather than staging perfect shots, I strive to capture the raw, genuine moments that occur naturally. My goal is to document the day as it unfolds, capturing the real emotions, reactions, and moments that make up the fabric of the wedding day.

As for my black-and-white photographs, they are a particular passion of mine. I believe that black-and-white photography has an innate ability to reveal the soul of an image. Without the distraction of color, the viewer's attention is drawn to the textures, the light, the contrasts, and most importantly, the emotions captured in the image.

In a black-and-white photograph, every smile, tear, and loving glance is emphasized, and the story of the moment becomes the focal point. The timeless quality of black-and-white imagery also adds a layer of classic elegance and nostalgia to the photos, further enhancing their emotional impact.

To me, the most important aspects of wedding photography are authenticity, emotion, and storytelling.

Authenticity is key because it is the genuine, unscripted moments that often become the most cherished memories. As a wedding photographer, it is my job to capture the reality of the day, the raw emotions, and the true essence of the couple's love.

Emotion is at the heart of every wedding, and capturing it in a photograph requires skill, empathy, and timing. A glance exchanged, a tear shed, a burst of laughter - these are the moments that hold the essence of the day, and capturing them is what makes a photograph truly memorable.

Storytelling, the third aspect, is where my background as a photojournalist comes into play. Every couple has a unique love story, and every wedding is a new chapter in that story. My goal is to tell that story through my images, to create a narrative that reflects the couple's journey, their personalities, and their love.

To ensure I capture the essence of each couple's love story, I take the time to get to know the couple before the wedding. I like to understand their journey, their personalities, and their dynamics. This helps me better anticipate the moments that will be most meaningful to them, and to capture those moments in a way that truly reflects their relationship.

During the wedding, I stay alert and connected, always looking for the emotional moments, the interactions, and the subtle expressions of love and joy. I aim to be as unobtrusive as possible, blending into the background to capture candid moments as they unfold naturally.

I approach each wedding with an open mind and a creative spirit. Every couple is unique, every love story is different, and I believe it's important to honor that by bringing a fresh perspective to each wedding. In doing so, I can create a collection of images that not only document the day, but also encapsulate the unique essence of each couple's love story.

There are so many touching moments that come to mind, especially at wedding traditions where the music has “heart-melting” lyrics, and almost every time a song is dedicated to the bride, their parents or grandparents are crying and sometimes the bride, too. Images from scenes like this are in this collection, too.

Capturing the intimate, candid moments at weddings is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job, and it requires a combination of anticipation, observation, and discretion.

My background as a photojournalist has honed my ability to anticipate moments before they happen. Just like when I was covering news events, I stay alert and keep a keen eye on the proceedings. I'm always looking for the emotional moments, the small gestures, the loving glances. I pay attention to the dynamics between people, the interactions, and the emotions, which allows me to anticipate and be ready for those fleeting, candid moments.

Observation is also key. I'm not just observing the couple, but everyone at the wedding. Often, the most touching moments are not just those involving the couple, but those involving their loved ones as well. Parents, grandparents, siblings, and friends - their reactions and emotions add to the depth of the story I am capturing.

Discretion is the third important factor. I try to be as unobtrusive as possible. I want to blend into the background so that people forget that I'm there, allowing them to act naturally. My aim is to capture the day as it unfolds, rather than trying to create or influence moments.

Technically, I always have my camera ready and settings adjusted to quickly adapt to changing conditions. I often use a longer lens for these moments, as it allows me to capture them from a distance without intruding on the intimacy of the situation.

Furthermore, getting to know the couple and their family before the wedding helps me to understand the dynamics and relationships, which can guide me in identifying the moments that will be most meaningful.

At the end of the day, capturing these intimate, candid moments is about being in tune with the atmosphere, the emotions, and the people. It's about being present, observant, and ready to capture the essence of the day, in all its beautiful, fleeting spontaneity.

Black and white photography has a unique and powerful role in conveying emotions and depth in wedding photos. It provides a timeless and classic aesthetic that is intrinsically linked with the nostalgia, emotion, and grandeur that weddings often evoke.

One of the primary roles of black and white photography is its ability to simplify an image by eliminating the distraction of color. Without color, the viewer's attention is drawn directly to the subject and the emotional content of the image. It emphasizes the textures, the contrasts, and the interplay of light and shadow, which can dramatically highlight the depth of a moment and the emotions it encapsulates.

Furthermore, black and white photography tends to evoke a sense of nostalgia and timelessness that can be deeply emotional. The absence of color somehow makes the feelings in the image feel more profound, and the memories preserved in the photograph more poignant.

When it comes to storytelling, black and white images can add a layer of depth and complexity to the narrative of the wedding day. They can create a sense of drama, of intimacy, or of candid authenticity that complements and enhances the color images in the collection.

It's a Macedonian custom (perhaps also in neighbouring countries, too). The groom was believed to be so nervous that he might cut himself if he shaved the morning of his wedding, so someone does it for him. Over time, it has become exaggerated for humour and to make a bit of a spectacle! Sometimes they pretend to use an axe, or hedge clippers - things like that! All good fun!

In a series of images, black and white photos can serve to emphasize key moments, allowing them to stand out and resonate more deeply with the viewer. A black-and-white image of a tearful parent, a nervous smile, or a tender touch can become a powerful focal point in the story of the day, drawing the viewer in and inviting them to experience the emotion of the moment.

Black and white photography is a tool that allows me to express the depth of emotions, the intimacy, and the heartfelt moments that make each wedding unique. It adds an element of artistry and emotion to the storytelling that can make the memories of the day even more special and impactful.
