What 2020 showed me is that it’s not too bad an idea to have a doomsday bunker. Somewhere nearby. Just in case. And there’s still a month left to this year, so we might need those bunkers handy if the internet’s jokes about an alien invasion and a zombie apocalypse turn out to be true.
If you’re shopping for a bunker and you’ve got enough gold doubloons to sink a pirate ship, you might want to draw inspiration from this bunker north of Wichita, in Kansas, which sells 3-million-dollar full-floor condos (the cheapest half-floor ones cost 1.5 million dollars while penthouse suites can be bought for 4.5 million dollars). We don’t know the exact location of this 20k-square-foot doomsday-proof underground building, but that doesn’t mean we’re short on other details.
What used to be a Cold War missile silo built by the US government was turned into luxury condos. The Survival Condo Project, which is behind everything, states that up to 75 people can live in the bunker for a whopping 5 years. And you’d really be living in the lap of luxury there. The bunker has everything from a general store and a library to a medical center and bar. Just be prepared to pay the monthly 5k-dollar residents’ association fees.

It goes deep underground…

15 storeys deep, in fact, and it can survive a nuclear blast

The mega-bunker is full of luxury condos that turn surviving the Apocalypse into thriving underground

The bunker can hold up to 75 people (12 families) and has enough resources for them to survive up to 5 years

The 20k-square-foot project has everything that’s needed to live through a doomsday scenario

The project has redundant electric sources so there’s enough power no matter what happens

Inside, there’s everything that you’ll ever need (and you won’t get bored easily)

There’s even a general store inside the mega-bunker

Fans of the cinema will be glad to know there’s a home theater here as well

The exact location of the repurposed missile silo is a well-kept secret

Security is the name of the game and there’s even a command and control center

There’s a lift that can take you to any floor you need

And a pool to cool off and get some cardio exercise in
Not to mention a rock climbing wall…

…and a gym, so you can leave the bunker fitter than you went in, hopefully

Here are some more pics from inside the project

The kitchens look modern and stylish

While the bedrooms are comfy and don’t look like something underground

There’s enough room for all of your things

And there’s even a medical center in case you have any health issues

Some of the passageways look like they wouldn’t be out of place in a metro station

Did we mention the place has a gun range? Not a bad idea if there’s ever a Zombie Apocalypse

They also installed aquaponic farming systems

Whether it’s a global pandemic, a nuclear disaster, Mother Nature throwing disaster after disaster our way, or a financial collapse, having 9-feet-thick walls and being 15 stories underground can make you feel safe.
According to Business Insider, Larry Hall bought the missile silo for 300k back in 2008 and immediately began work on turning it into a high-end bunker. Hall and his team spent nearly 20 million dollars on the project that allows 12 families to survive even a direct nuclear impact.
The bunker has everything that you’d expect from something as high-end as this: it has 3 redundant power supplies, 3 separate water sources, a water filtration system, aquaponic farming, as well as hydroponic food. It sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it’s reality.
Of course, just having the bare minimum things for survival is no way to live. So the bunker also comes with a gym, swimming pool, movie theater, rock climbing wall, and… even a dog park. So it’s safe to say that you’re bound to come out of the bunker fitter than you went in.
Hall explained that discipline, productivity, and keeping busy are incredibly important for keeping things running and for mental health. So he suggests that people work 4-hour days and rotate jobs every month.
And if you’re interested… Hall and his team are working on converting a second missile silo into a bunker. It’s going to be thrice as big as this one and we can’t wait to see what the final product looks like.
Since Americans have proven that they can't even survive being forced to stay in their house for 3 weeks, this bunker is useless.
I'd give it a couple weeks before one of the morons inside screams it's his constitutional right to be able to open to door if he wants to, killing everyone inside.
Load More Replies...Great, just what we need - more bullshit that only benefits the super wealthy... who, judging from all the quarantine breakdowns, would probably throw a tantrum about not having a beautiful mansion to play around in. Stop phrasing it with "you" & "us," we are not the target audience for this ridiculousness & never will be because, believe it or not, we're not the greedy whiney brats known as millionaires.
This also the reason why rich people do not give a flying hot sh*t about climate change or nuclear war. They think they’re gonna love through it on luxury, (Hint: They won’t!) And I have no idea what effect it will have on the hundred or so people who would be trapped in the bunker, when they realize the world above them is probably gone, they can’t leave....and this is now their prison.
Load More Replies...Recents events have shown us that if you ask people to stay inside à few weeks for their own safety, they won't give a f**k. And we won't talk about wearing an equipment that could protect them from radiations. Pretty sure that about one week after Doomsday, some asshole will run outside, leaving all doors open, screaming "my libertyyyyy" and will doom all the other in the bunker.
