My name is Brittni Price. I am a 24-year-old self-taught makeup artist and body and face painter in Atlanta, GA. This past year I lost my job as a manager for a high-end hair salon and had no idea where to go from there. Luckily for me, I had a lot of free time to practice and improve what I really loved, makeup looks!
Around the end of November, I came across a Christmas makeup challenge on Instagram, hosted by a school that’s based in Southern California. I decided, “why not take a stab at it?”. So on December 1st, using the makeup and acrylic face paint I had, I sat on my bathroom counter blending and painting away my own interpretations of the pre-created list counting down ’til Christmas.
Most makeup ideas took 2-6 hours depending on the detail or on myself being overly judgy. I also made prosthetics out of aluminum foil, lots of adhesive, and toilet paper. About a week into the challenge, a close friend gave me some professional makeup and body paints.
Since then, the school hosting the challenge has featured 3 of my looks, and the response to my work has been very positive. I grew up on Tim Burton films, so some of the looks have a macabre feel to them, which is my favorite. I plan on going until the end of the month or until I get another job (hopefully in this industry).
To check out all of the looks I’ve completed, you can go to my Instagram page. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did create them.
