Some of the most notable and influential people in history had beards and mustaches. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that beards are gathering together once again to do some good in the world.
Yes, the 2019 National Beard and Mustache Championships are up for No Shave November (a.k.a. Movember) and some of the greatest beard-lovers came together to have their pictures taken for charity on November 8th and 9th.
This year, the competition is supporting three charities: Oscar Mike, a foundation supporting injured veterans, P.A.W.S of Tinley Park, a no-kill animal shelter, and Together We Cope, a homelessness prevention agency.
The winners have not yet been announced, but that does not stop us from frolicking in the glory of the beard. Greg Anderson, a Las Vegas-based photographer, took on the task of eternalizing the numerous men sporting their unique beards. Check out the top contestants in the championships below.

Load More Replies...I’m almost disturbed/confused by his boyish look and then a great white and grey beard
Me too! First thing I thought was he looked like a baby with a beard, lol.
Load More Replies...I really enjoy this. It makes me realize how weird and unique we all are, and I mean that in a good way. Freedom of expression at it's best. However, I can't help but imagine other species doing this.... Like lions hosting a wildest mane contest or something
These are great, I like that the ladies are participating in this as well.
Wow, pretty amazing and you have wonder how long they took to grow and then the time to groom them to perfection!
My boss grew up in Vail, Colorado, and was frequently the only non-white at school, workplaces and on the ski slopes. He would say of this group: "Diversity seems limited to 'green eyes.'"
I guess it depends on multiple things, including the target demographic of the event, + those willing to participate in photos + (logically) the final images chosen. It also depends on what you're including in the parameters of "diversity". I've seen a range of ethnicities, including multiple Asian ethnicities, Oriental ethnicities, African, Jewish, Southern-european. I've seen young, old, male, female (& possibly transgender participants (?)), heterosexual, homosexual, tough-guys covered in tattoos, hefty guys, slim guys. Classic beards, retro beards, steam-punk beards, conservative beards, arty beards, sculpted beards, braided beards, thick beards & fine beards... even fake beards!. So, I guess it depends on your parameters of "diversity". Either way - I think the pics are cool, and everyone looked like they're having fun. :D
Load More Replies...Same could be said for Men that name themselves after an underwear accident.
