As the year is drawing to a close, people look back on it to gain some perspective and insight, but one viral internet challenge wants us to go even further. Known as the 10-Year Challenge, or the 2010 vs. 2020 Challenge, or even the Glow-Up Challenge, it has sent out a simple call to action: post a photo of yourself in 2010 next to a photo of yourself in 2020, caption it whatever you want, and that's it! Turns out, recapping the last decade was just what people needed—some are celebrating having dedicated such a substantial portion of their life to their dream job while others are simply showcasing how gracefully their pets have aged under their care. Continue scrolling and check out some of the cool photos that Bored Panda has collected from this fun challenge.

Aaaw....... he has gone from cutie to cutest. Old dogs really melt my heart.
According to the Internet culture database 'Know Your Meme', the challenge started to take off in 2019, largely on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. At its core, this 'before and after' challenge is a wholesome, socially acceptable way to brag about how hot you used to be, how well you matured, or how hot you were, and how well you matured.
@she she that's called being transgender. Don't be like that. I'm trans. I don't want you to assume everything is fake.
Load More Replies...You're really loaded up with hair gel in 2010 lol. It's lovely but damn that's a lot of hair gel
Photo on left reminds me of actor Peter Lorre. (Yeah, I know, I'm showing my age.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7zMDYWJj9s
Call it narcissistic, but I think self-love is important. We tend to be too hard on ourselves; we do it because we want to excel and be the best version of ourselves, all the time. However, this entails a lot of self-criticisms, and that inner voice that constantly tells us how we could've done things better can really hold us down. If the 10 Year challenge with its cool pictures silences it for some of us, so be it.
It’s hard to accomplish something like this, it takes real strength. You Go Girl!
She really loved photography... it's rare you find someone who is doing what they thought they would be doing when they were 10 years old
cats seems never age, but we however we'll lose them. I lost one of my seven all fosters cats at this 2020 Christmas night, a 16 yo female Maine C**n, the worst Christmas night ever for my family, also if fortunately was all of them sleeping, and only me assisted my one beloved cat till gone, with no pain though, thanks God. not to be sad, but you've to be prepared, even if will never be enough, but that's life.
Okay, Smudge. We of the older generations tend to spend more time in the bathroom, too.
Two new phrases I just learned! I may be 71, but never too old to learn something new. And you look like you are hapier now.
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!! It's always to see people who aren't afraid to express themselves
Maybe he took a bath and didn't put it on till later, i hope.
Load More Replies...Humble brag -I look as handsome as I did 10 years ago and am still in the military. And it works.
I'm trying to figure out how the mother,, looks like she hasn't aged..... Well not EVEN A DAY! Considering her outfit is almost identical, to the one in 2010. Except for the earrings! Even her hair is identical!! No
That's impressive I don't know where the NO, CAME FROM! UGH

A LOT different. More secure in himself, more confident, outgoing. His personality is on display.
oh my, Ramiro--this is a laugh out loud haircut!!! how did you get through school intact??!!
This challenge is excellent, I can really tell who's too young for me to gawk at.
Lol!! Since I've turned 40, I've had this feeling several times!
Load More Replies...I'm flabbergasted. But give me a pass - yeah? Honestly don't know they're the same person.
Scarf still looks great. Not sure about the pale blue glasses frames - but okay, I'll buy into it.
You are trying to pull off sexy, but in 2020, you don’t have to try your joy kills it! So does your amazing smile!
On the left, a smart-assed kid. On the right, an openly friendly guy with a great future.
congratulations on such a beautiful baby. like the matching aran jumpers by the way
My guess is to express and then own her discomfort at her younger self by encapsulating her post with a comical and disarming phrase. "LMAO" as a phrase has nebulous requirements and applications but tries to force a humorous response (laughter, a reciprocated "LMAO", etc). It's the text equivalent of inserting nervous laughter into a conversation to transition past an awkward moment. "LOL"
Load More Replies...Well, at least half your hair changed. Maybe after another 10 years...
If anyone’s curious, she’s a YouTuber with over 2 million subscribers, hence the Twitter verification.
So good you fixed eyebrows. I am still struggling with it. In 2006 it was some kind of fashion to have it thin. I did not know that so I went to "specialist" and she did horrible job. Its 14 years later and my eyebrows still growing back but it's better.
Got past the Great Wall of adolescence, eh? Oh, doesn't look good, selfies in the bathtub.
Your cheeks are just young! Now, they lost the cheekiness, and you have a lovely face! You did before, too!
Still cute cheeks! I'll bet all the 6th grade boys followed you around!
I actually think fedoras look rather nice when done correctly of course. But then again, what do I know about fashion?
Load More Replies...You're right, they have beautiful hair and the sunglasses are a nice, posh, touch
Load More Replies...a fine, self-confident, strong woman, what the world needs more of!
No one but you called it a glow-up. It's a 2010 vs 2020 comparison. But go on hating on the pretty people if that's what gets you through.
Load More Replies...A great "Stevie Nicks" vibe going on, there! (look it up, kids...lol)
Been there. There's nothing like growing up feeling judged by everyone all the time.
The irony is that many of the people doing the judging call themselves Christians, but in judging others instead of leaving to to go these "Christians" are sinning.
Load More Replies...i think he/she idk what thier pronouns are is on hormones
Load More Replies...I think it was just wet in the before picture which made her hair appear darker
Load More Replies...Why did you get downvoted? Their new visage Is indeed stunning.
Load More Replies...are we just gonna ignore that his eyes are red in the first pic

Load More Replies...Your experiences, good and not good, contribute to who you are. If it is past, let it go but it can be used to guide you on your way.
I understand. I was wearing colour tights under black ripped tights... Two tights and skirt...
This one is a joke. Tom C*x is a 45 Yr old British author. P.S: Anyone who likes cats needs to check out his early books. 😻
Wait... so on first one you are 10 yo, on second you are 40 yo (and grow up in Hogwart). It is some kind of magic? How you fit 30 years in 10?
Go back to the neon! It's so striking, especially with your gorgeous skin and eyes.
Omg that caption in your glow up photo hhahah! It sums up my life! Lmao
Looks like it...and pretty much only 15 years olds do the duck face.
Load More Replies..."Oh my god, I was like SOOOO ugly back then with my emo hair, thinking that trend was cool lmaoooo" Jennifer said while contouring her face, with her watercolor infinity underboob tattoo visible under her tie-dye unicorn crop top.
Almost all of these people simply grew up and matured. Not a whole lot going on here
You mean, people look different after 10 years?!?! No way! Seriously, this is just a sad attempt for people to get compliments on how cute they look now all while inappropriately laughing at old pics of themselves because they look better now with a stupid filter on. Most of these people are so young that they didn’t change much anyway. Lame
I’m no doctor, but this trend doesn’t seem all that healthy. It’s fine to look back at how you’ve changed, but don’t belittle yourself for how you used to be. Change is the only constant, and in 10 years you might be completely different. Again, just my two cents.
I am proud to say I have never changed even one little bit! Before-Aft...d60bb8.jpg
I really love this post, it was warm to see people happy with them selves.
Big time insecurity from growing up bombarded by digitally enhanced images, where even 15-yr-old models aren't considered sufficiently young and smooth looking. Their brsins have literally, physically been altered by this, and self acceptance of appearance flew out the window.
