Stan has learned how to use a camera and to shout out cheese as he presses the shutter.
He has a few of my old crappy point and shoot film cameras in his toy box to play with, but today I gave him my Canon G12. To be honest it’s a pile of shit and it doesn’t get used at all. It was probably a tip top camera back in the day but by today’s standards it’s not the best.
He wandered round the house and garden snapping away saying ‘cheese’ at everything. He even managed to switch the settings to ‘sepia’ at one point. I’m guessing he was feeling a bit pretentious and wanted to change the style of his shots. He looks through the viewfinder as well rather than use the LCD screen on the back.
After he had finished and started to press all the buttons to see what they did I whacked the memory card in the MacBook and had a look at the pics. He did pretty well!
What do you think? Is he any good? Is the dude a phot in the making or should he hang the camera up now and get back to watching Paw Patrol and colouring in?
As he walked around, I grabbed a few on my iPhone as well.
FAQ: The grass is fake it’s a brand called Tiger Turf. The dining room table was from Habitat.
Here they are.

Share on FacebookHe's sooo cute! Actually some really nice shots there. I really like the shadow/grass ones and the ones underneath the table. Different perspectives :)
First he is adorable!!! What a cutie! Keep it going his perspective is awesome.... just imagine what he will do once he gets more experience and sees his work! Well done little one
Load More Replies...What I like most is the perspective of a very little person. It has been so very many years (I am 70) since I spent much time down at that level, it was refreshing to see. He is very serious and pays a lot of attention to learning his chosen motivation. That is truly a gift at any age.
You can tell he started to really think about what he was taking pics of. Nice work buddy!
Hahahaha....I love his facial expression-looks so cool and like a professional photographer....picture from his angle and point of view are just awesome....keep it up little guy!
I really love this. We always wonder what they are thinking, but this gives us a little insight into what they may find interesting. Very awesome.
The pictures taken of the father and mother I definitely think should be cherished the most.
This is intriguing! You can really see what keeps him busy! Some of them are actually pretty good photos! You should really let him mess around with it "often" as he will really grow into it, he's already doing a decent job so far - imagine once he understands the full potential and begins expressing himself. I think you might have something here!
We see the world through a toddlers eyes this way. Great pics. We forget they see life way lower than we see it.
First off, he's adorable. And secondly, he's doing a pretty good job with this!
He's great!! He is observant, obviously loves some things you guys own, like the owl lawn ornament, shows curiosity and a natural instinct for composition. I think that maybe all parents should put cameras in the hands of their small children. It tells you a lot about who they are. Love yours!!!
knee level, so cute but all the important stuff. I liked the clouds caught in the glass door. good job, buddy!
He's great and I love the dog had Beagles before. His view are wonderful like the flower shot. Keep him at it photography is a great expression tool!
The beauty lies in simplicity. Adults usually overthink when they try to make a photo to impress. Some of his shots are amazing. Keep stimulating your son, this can only get better. "Without imagination, we are nothing"
Really interesting pov. Fun to see the world through eyes young child! Way to go Mom!
It's good to see things in others perspective. Same gadget but different perspective.
Upside down Mom is such a cool shot. What a treat to have it forever!
Hes so cute! Good way to start them that age, full of energy and adventure
Maybe you should make an exhibition from his works at the future. Your son is adorable and talented 👍👍👍👍
Great job inspiring your little one! He's got a great perspective on things at his level. Hoping he continues to enjoy photography as he isn't just ''in'' to taking people shots like some.
So. Incredibly. Perfect. Keep it up. Birthday suggestion for an uncle or aunt: they could give him a small picture frame that has a battery, that you put an SD card into.
clear shots, stabel, and he looks at the pictures that he has taken. very good. not just click, click, click. Keep up the good work.
He's awesome, fantastic that he has such an interest and a creative side. Run with it, he may be an award winning photographer one day!! x
I agree theres a couple perfect shots here! It shows you just have to like something to be good at it and juat do it !
For a 19-month-old child they are really good' and to think that a lot of grown ups can't even take a good photo, you should encourage him, the dog poo is the best :D) :-D
These are great photos! I hope that as he gets older his interest in photography doesn't fade, as it can be seen that he has a lot of potential. I can't wait until my little one is old enough to do the same thing with... I'm curious what kind of photos she will take. Thank you for sharing.
I think 'The Dude' is spot-on for his perspective (remembering back to my very young days - everything was waaaay up there and my shoes were the thing I looked at most). Good job, little Dude!
The boy has some wicked skills! Dog poop is fantastic. Love the perspective.
Pretty amazing for a 19-month old. I hope he continues to love using the camera.
Lovely shots and pics to remember life at home and garden, like how he follows the dog around ..
Keep snapping! Top photographers say that only 1 in 100 of their pics are top class, so the more he takes, the more good ones will appear.
There are two or three that are fantastic! It is so interesting to see things from his height - we forget what it's like for toddlers. Love them!!!!!
Just think what he will be like with a camera by the time he’s 19or 29 yrs old professional !!
he is good and we need more of these posts to cheer us up and brighten our days in this cloudy full of hatred world..thank you for sharing the joy
I think he has a good point of view as 19 month year old boy. I mea he got a shots of his own little shoes, and when he looked up to his mother airing the clothes, or when he shots his father's smiling face. And my favorite is when he shots the living room with a glow pourin inside. That was so beautiful
Love him and his photos! Like to see more as he ‘progresses’, which I’m sure he will. I love the dog poop on the grass...great potential!
Did a similar thing with my boy around the same age. He ended up with a ton of pictures of his big sister and all of his soft toys :) This is wonderful!
I love his perspective. Love the photo's of the shadows, the dog, you and his tiny little feet/shoes! But all of them are great! It really shows what life from his level is like! The poop on the grass was awesome! Well, I can say I really like all of them! I have a lower point of view from my wheelchair also (though still higher than his), I am able to stand up for a very short time on 1 (like clubbed, turned inside as if you twist your ankle) foot, when I do that, the world looks entirely different! So I think it is cool to see life from different point of views! This one is awesome!
Love the second one of his Mum, where she's smiling up at him and we can see his feet, that's gorgeous. What a fab idea of yours. And, I agree with Veronica below, the dog poop one is hilarious. My daughter and I were laughing at the idea of him saying "Cheese" to it before taking the photo, LOL.
l am impressed....dont take the camera off him...the beauty of it being digital is that he can take as many shots as the memory card will allow, empty it, and then start all over again..then print off his really good ones....l think you could have a great coffee table book out of it eventually...at least one you can present to him on his 21st...
This is a really cute idea and it starts kids out young finding different art forms. Good for you loved this, can't wait to see more!
I think i should teach my daughter. She is 2 1/2 and is always interested in the pictures and videos I take. I think it would be interesting to see her try. Also, no offense, but that lawn is sickeningly perfect! :P
I think the sepia photo of your hubby at the table is actually really cool and the one of you upside smiling is a keeper for sure
Sorry I'm a newbie. If it's written by dad then I mean the photo of you is awesome and the one of mumma upside down is adorable :)
Load More Replies...Some of his photos are great! :) What I love most though is seeing the world from a child's perspective again; everything is on a totally different eye level, and things (plus people and dogs) are so much bigger!
The dog poop cracked me up! Some of his under-the-table shots are really cool. Keep that camera in his hands!
Love the 'Owl' and of course................ the Doggie Do!!!
Wow he is good. I got a sense of being there actually being able to look at what's real. And not just why he wants us to see but what is really there. Lots of joy from that family so cute!

Awesome shots. Now we also know what life looks like from "down there"... :)
I think he's doing great, no grown up would have bothered shooting the dog poo. I think I got my first camera when I was 6 or 7, my dad's old Kodac "Brownie," back in the day you had to wait until the film came back from the developer's to see how things turned out. Hopefully he have lots of fun, and we see his developing skills. ;-)
He seems to like textures and the play of shadow and light :) So cute. I think he should keep going if he wants... only he can say when it's time to hang up the camera :)
This reminds me of when I followed my (similar aged) nephew about with a camera to see his perspective for an art project at school! High fives to the budding photographer!!
But Mommy's Business: From whence I came is a revelation.
Load More Replies...He actually has very good spatial composition and spacial thinking.
He's so cute! He seems to a knack for photography. He got some nice shots. My favorites are the ones where someone is taking a photo of him taking a picture. Just wonderful!
The perspective of a child in pictures. Great shots and I can see him in a few years getting awards from his work as he learns more. Thanks for inspiring passion for for photography. I'm eager to see more of his future work.
ah the joys of a break from paw patrol! love the photos, they are fantastic and show a good eye for composition already ♥
He is 1 year and 7 months or 1 and half to simplify it, with that out of the way, really creative idea and cute kid.
love the shot with the garden owl,& his little shadow pic,he;s done really well for a small kid..i rather much see camera in a young kids hand then a toy video game or some hand held gadget with toy sounds..he'll make himself a very fine photographer in the future...best of luck little man..you got good parents on hand :)
The shots are great, sure, sure. More importantly - where do I get that grass man? It's that sod? What kind is it?
No, he's not good, but he is only 3. And the G12 is a good camera...NOT a piece of s**t.
Anybody who is just a bit interested in photography must admit that none of those photos is good. It is cute, those photos could be in family album, but the answer to the question asked is No - he is not good. No 19-month-old kid can be a good photographer. And this is not a hate, this is just an unbiased opinion. Have a nice day :)
*1 year and 7 month. I dont get why everybody hast to count the age in month after the kid turned allready 1. Its like: "hey, I am 283 Month old."
Frankly his POV is pretty generic and uninspiring. But the parents here will gush no matter what the little sucker photographs.
I like the ones he took of the guy at the laptop, and the dog by a door.... All the others are just typical pictures taken by a kid... I thought these were going to be unique shots from an 18 month old... but you give any toddler a camera and you'll get pretty much the same thing... They do have cameras for kids, if you want to keep him going with photography... my daughter loved hers until we let her use a smart phone we weren't using any more.. Letting a toddler use an expensive camera of course, is entirely up to you... I'm sure you know kids get sticky, leave sticky messes, and drop things...
Awesome POV. Go straight to a D5. Keep it up. Teach him a few things at a time. He clearly loves it. BTW - pick up your poop...
I liked the one with his moms leg wide open. That saved this photo sesion.
So cool, I miss my little brother now sniff. How did he take pics of himself holding the cam? trollol :D
He didn't. Dad said he got out his phone and took some photos of him taking photos.
