12 Hours To Make 13 Portraits, Condensed Into A 3 Minute Time Lapse.
The second installment of ‘The Auckland Project’ took place in January 2016. I have previously written about the project and the insane amount of flash (12,000 w/s) required to make portraits with a medium that has an ISO of 0.5 to 2 ISO (https://www.boredpanda.com/wet-plate-collodion-process-the-auckland-project-paul-alsop/).
This was the second round. Again we were lucky enough to have the use of Kingsize studios (http://kingsize.co.nz/) and their extensive library of strobe packs and modifiers, including those from Broncolor, Mola Softlights and Chimera Lighting. We were also lucky enough to have Lee Howell (http://www.leehowell.com/) along for the second installment, that made timelapse footage that shows a bts look at what is involved in a full day of Wet Plate Collodion portraits to make only 13 portraits in total. The sitter this time around were actors, directors and photographers to name but a few.
