Mom Gets Criticized Over Son’s Zombie Cake Photo Shoot, Reveals The Heartbreaking Secret Behind It
Little Phoenix celebrated his first birthday smiling in front of the camera during a zombie-themed photoshoot. When his mom shared it online, however, the internet wasn’t smiling at all. Australian mother Amy Louise has received a huge wave of backlash for organizing her toddler such a “disgusting,” “morbid,” and “offensive” experience. In response, she shared the story behind it, and it’s so heartbreaking, it will silence all of her haters.
At first, Amy was removed from Facebook mom groups. “I knew it would happen but the extent of it really shocked me,” she told Daily Mail. “I got told I was a bad mother, that I was going to damage his mental health, that I would make him sick eating that cake off the dirt.”
But you see, Phoenix entered this world without a heartbeat. “From the time the doctors told me my placenta had detached and there was no heartbeat, to the time they cut him out was such a whirlwind of emotion,” she said. “I remember feeling terrified but still hopeful. Even though they had said “get her down to theatre right now the baby has no heartbeat” I thought, this kind of stuff happens all the time. But when they took him out and there was no cry, my heart just sank. It wasn’t a sad feeling, it was anger.”
The young mother and her fiance Gary Wilkinson were convinced their baby son had died. But not everyone lost hope. “The doctor squeezed my hand to try and show his emotion but it was a mess. It was awful. I just kept seeing this tiny white coffin flashing through my mind as I started to process what had just happen.”
Baby Phoenix proved to be a real fighter. He was brought back to life on October 31, on Halloween. “It was the longest and most awful 13 minutes of my life,” Amy said. “When I held him for the first time, the world disappeared.”
“What better than a zombie-themed cake smash for the tiny baby boy who was pronounced dead and then miraculously came to life on Halloween,” she wondered.

I think it's vile, disgusting and ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE. People need to stop being offended about every little thing. People with fragile emotions are a result of all the coddling. Get over it and learn how to smile and laugh at yourself again, geebus.
Exactly. It's painful to see how harsh people with an underdeveloped sense of humor can judge.
Load More Replies...I think what that person said, the one who wished her son was dead, was an exponential million times more vile and disgusting than this photo shoot. Seriously, how can someone so self-righteously be so immoral. It's like Manu Chao sings, "too much too much morality can drive to criminality".
So what if he got a Zombie cake for his birthday. I've known kids who got really cute birthday cakes as kids - and they still grew up to be rapists and murderers. It's what you teach your kids that matter.
Agreed. Of course it's vile and disgusting. Just like any one year old kid that's turned loose on a cake.
and there's a good chance the kid's gonna try to eat dirt in some time of their life, it's just what kids do
I was having that same thought. Those parents had the easiest cleanup because they could have left the cake "remains" in the woods, compared to most parents who are cleaning it off walls, pets, and every surface within a half-mile radius.
When I was growing up, there was something called "growing some thick skin" so you didn't spend your life being upset and/or offended. I miss hearing that phrase sometimes.
everyone has forgotten how to walk away from things they don't like or agree with and instead think they need to tell everyone just how much they don't like it.
I agree. I grew up tough. My parents were only prepared for one child. My twin and I were unexpected. At the age of 1 week they put both of us and a raccoon in a trash can for 24 hours. At the end of it I emerged victorious, the raccoon and my twin both having been killed and partially eaten by me. Now, nothing offends me.
Probably not. Those parents would be sentenced for life and this person at a week old could not kill a raccoon and eaten both twin and raccoon. This would be very rare.
One week old? Sounds far fetched. It was probably 1 1/2 or 2 weeks.
It's the same as it always was: there was always a bunch of people who are easily offended. Sometimes, people forget that it's much easier to communicate to the world at large via social media now. Before, when people where so easily offended, they could only vent it to the circle of people around them.
I wish I could give this comment 5 upvotes because it's perfect!
It's makeup and pastry and red-colored icing. They took their emotions from a frightening event and turned it into something fun. If you look at the origins of Halloween traditions, you'll find that this celebration is very much in keeping with them. Just because a child had a rocky beginning is no reason not to have fun now!
Um you do realize those aren't real brains right.... it's not like the woman killed someone or went to a morgue or anything it's all fake....I know, I know everything in the internet is real but this one thing isn't so your argument is invalid
He will probably love these pictures when he's older. Wishing death on someone's child makes them the bad person, not the parent of this fighting boy! Just look at how much fun he's having.
I know... I can't believe someone was able to wish that on anyone, especially from one mother to another.
Load More Replies...I totally agree with you. It's all innocent fun. Everyone defines fun in their own way: for some it's watching paint dry, bird watching - those are boring to me. The a,aging thing is, the ones who safeguard and shelter their kids end up either constantly bailing their kids out of the penile system often, identifying their bodies in a morgue or paying monthly for someone to listen to them while they tell their lives from a couch in an office. Also, I have friends who kids ate their chicken that fell on the floor, the parents just picked it up, dusted it off and gave it right back. Kids are healthy adults to date (and that was back in 1990). So I'd say, keep make you son happy they way you choose hun. Don't let these wet socks drench your fun.
"Don't let these wet socks drench your fun." I'm going to need to steal this :)
I would rather have baby pics of me like this, than the naked-sitting-on-the-toilet ones my mom aways pulled out to show off! LOL
I would say that wishing death on someone's child clearly makes the one doing the wishing the bad person.
Fitting name. Rises from the ashes. Also I wish people didn't make snap judgements. At least of the bad kind
Exactly ! The name says the whole story in just one word!
Load More Replies...“...because maybe you would know how this feels.” How what feels? To have your baby eat a brain cake? I don’t understand what that person is getting at. Was her kid a REAL zombie and little Phoenix is rubbing salt in the wound? Will someone explain this to me?
She's making the huge jump between zombie costumed baby and mockery of actual dead babies. I mean I assume she also verbally attacks adults who dress up as zombies for Halloween because real people die and thus they are terrible people for dressing up as a dead person.
The thing is that she does know what it feels like to lose a baby. For thirteen minutes, that's what happened. The difference is that the doctors were able to use modern medicine to save the child. There's probably many cases like this, and those parents call their children miracle babies. And let's consider what it says about someone to wish their child had died so they could feel pain and anguish instead of using dark humor about a situation that turned out fine.
Even without the backstory - who the f*ck cares so much about these pictures to create an internet outrage?? The pics are fantastic and the kids seems to have a ball. And it's actually healthy for the immunesystem to play in the dirt (and, yes, ingest some of it, too.) People are such morons... -_-
"And it's actually healthy for the immunesystem to play in the dirt (and, yes, ingest some of it, too.)" I didn't know that, and I thought I had the world figured out sobbing
Load More Replies...As an archaeologist who has worked outside digging in the dirt for over 10 years, I rarely caught a cold, never got the flu, and I ate 5 lunches a week with dirt-covered hands because I never had access to a sink or washroom, and drinking water was too valuable to waste (and you had to carry your water in so you didn't want to bring an extra pint for hand washing-water is heavy). We just viewed dirt as dietary fiber.
Great-Grandma here ...born with catalogue of disasters and protective momma determined to protect me from every germ. Her nickname was Clorox Queen. In grade school when doctor explained exposure to germs can help build immune system... let child play outside, let her get dirty, let her eat a mud pie or two. His advice worked. Grew healthy, fit, and still going strong after 7 decades.
*add a line break at the end of .)" and figured out; one of the major things that makes me want to quit boredpanda- and please don't mind the "*figured out sobbing" message
I'm not a doctor or scientist (just a librarian), but I am convinced that the "over-sterilized" child-rearing these days is why we see SO many more allergies! I do work with children at the library, and roll my eyes at the parents who chase their kids around with hand sanitizer. Hey, maybe that's why little Connor is allergic to every damned thing?? I literally ate dirt as a child, and have been fairly healthy for 41 years; I do have allergies, but they're mostly of the seasonal/nature type.
Well, I'm talking normal dirt, not radioactive waste :-) But, yes, dirt helps you to build a healthy immunesystem. That's the whole point about playing outdoors. Same with animals - because they drag in dirt. (Again, some exceptions). There's even therapies that help with certain gut and immune problems where you basically eat specific kinds of dirt (via kapsules)
My friends' pediatrician advised not vacuuming the nursery for this reason. The idea is that babies are at their most hearty in the first year when they are sleeping all the time and getting an immune boost from the mother's milk. You want to expose them to as much natural germ and bacteria as they would get exposed to outside so that they create a wide array of antibodies in a similar way to how vaccinations work.
How are you (not YOU the all encompassing "you") going to tell a mother that you wish her baby had died so she could experience loss?????? And then they have the nerve to call HER disgusting and vile! These people need a lesson in common human decency and not being hurtful pricks!! I just cannot imagine EVER telling a mother I wished her child died so she could experience loss... I'm sorry that one got me and it really makes me mad that people say those things and really freaking mean it!!!
a little dirt, in the first world, won't hurt him. it may even do him some good. it might help prevent food allergies. it might not, but as i said it won't hurt him.
It not just “may“ do him some good, it has been scientifically proven that it does a lot of good.
Load More Replies...People are idiots. Ignore them and raise your kid. This was a very cool idea too. Zombie themed birthday parties in the future too.
Does anyone seriously believe, that this toddler had any idea about what that cake actually looks like? Or that he is imitating eating another person? Gosh no! For him, it's a red cake, end of story. Not to mention, how many imitating and playing something like this does not make any damage, because it's a game, and yes, kids can make a difference.
So... they're calling her vile and disgusting for doing an innocent themed photoshoot with her kid, yet someone wished death upon her kid so she could feel what loss is... Maybe people should stop feeling so attacked by everything. Not everything is about you or even targetting you or anything that happened to you in your life.
It's hard enough to stop babies from eating pure dirt, let alone cake that's only touching it ^_^ Anyone criticising her for that's gotta be hypocrite, and the costume is awesome and totally poignant
I am 35 and would still eat cake off the ground. I get why some folks could see this in poor taste, but I am sure the kid will have bigger things to worry about when he gets older.
I think what that hater said is worse than anything she could be doing...
goodness me my oldest ate snails out of the garden (and I didnt wash them) dirt didnt kill him his Muscular Dystrophy did, he lived a normal life eating dirt , plalying mud pies and having a ball stop putting your kids in cotton wool, let them live the real life. dirt and all. my boy lived to 27 year not the 16 I was given, gee could have been the snails and dirt.
i ate half of the earthworm(we call them rainworms- those pinky ones) as a bet in a kindergarten. and i survived.... although i was promised a lollipop for it and i never got it :(
Load More Replies...and you are still alive , wow and that worm being a rain worm would have been clean, I would still demand the lollypop if you see those kids ever again
@Gillian Back: in kindergarten(and also in the village) we've had a bully boy. he was big and cruel. and that's how he started- tricked me to eat a worm... i wouldn't demand anything from him, we all smaller kids kept the safe distance :D
I ate a mealworm last year (fist day of seventh grade) because my science teacher asked who wanted to try one. It tasted like pool water with a hint of apples.
I really don't like kids, can't stand them, won't have any of my own AND I KNOW DAMN WELL IT'S NONE OF MY BUSINESS HOW OTHERS RAISE THEIRS. People claiming they love kids and parenthood then talking s**t like they know everything, get out your own a*s, there's a whole world out here you really ought to discover.
"I wish you would have lost your son." Wtf? What kind of sick person would say such a thing? That's disgusting. This photoshoot is cute, and the kid doesn't even know that the theme is "morbid." He's just eating cake and getting messy, and kids LOVE that. You can tell he's having a good time. Just look how happy he looks in the second last photo. Adorable!
I wouldn't have an issue with someone writing that the images upset them because their child had died. I draw the line at wishing that someone else's child died. That's basically requesting that a child die as punishment for hurting one's feelings. I wouldn't wish anything on the woman who wrote that, other than the realization that she should not ask that a child be put to death to compensate for her loss and bereavement.
And if nothing else, the poor thing was born on Halloween. What the kids in his classes are going to tease him with will be much worse than a zombie cake at 1 year old!
People need to keep their negative comments to themselves. They have no idea what the story behind what she chose to do was nor was it any of their business. She is the mother and she can do whatever she dang well pleases. It grates on my nerves to no end when other people try to tell someone how to parent...stay in your own lane and mind your own...
"damage his mental health" over eating a cake on the floor and dressing up like a zombie at 1 years old? LOL PLEASE plus if you never told the kid anything about this when he grew up he wouldn't even remember so that's b******t
What this mom has done is AMAZING. Nobody should take that away from her. Life is amazing. Bringing a new life into this world is the most amazing thing as well. Having your baby come back to life??? This mom can do whatever she wants and get away with it. She and her baby are both amazing.
Other people don't need to censor themselves for your sake. How she ignores every moron that said anything negative about how HER family celebrated. F**k 'em.
wishing death on someone's child because she let him eat a brain cake off a log? Cmon people how cruel can you get??? there is no reason for that no matter the situation!
Jesus Christ, I dot understand how this is offensive!! All I see is a child doing an amazing cosplay photo shoot. If he were to get ill, he build up an immunity. He probably won't remember this too clearly never mind affect his mental health. And the story was just so heartwarming. :>
People need to mind their own business. Unless someone is abusing or neglecting, shut your judgy mouths.
Everyone just overreacted SO much then "I wish you had lost your baby" she almost did you incensitive sh!t
What is the matter with people? Does his mental health look at all damaged, looks like a happy smiling little boy to me :) And what wrong with eating a bit of dirt anyway ;)
I just love little Phoenix's hair!!!! People sometimes just get too offended over things that they decide they must voice their rude opinions on.
I hope she tells those FB Mom groups to jump off a tall building....Personally I hate parties where they have clowns, but since it's not my party I keep my mouth shut !!!
I cried ;v; also to the mothers on that group, good luck trying to keep toodlers from trying eating dirt, my mom tried her best but I still ate sand and licked rocks untill I was 1 year old :U
Pardon my language, but f**k those guys. Your kid looks happy. Good for you
Zombies aren't real, they are make believe. I think this little guy is a bad a*s. Just look at his face.....
People need to not be offended by something that thry cant controll. And i must say those pictures were adsorbable
Too many people get offended at the drop of a hat and then expect the rest of the world to follow suit and demand public outcry and satisfaction thst their feeling were bruised. Geez people. It's just a little boy eating cake. He'll have absolutely no memory of it except thru the photos he'll see when he gets older. Was her child hurt, damaged, devestated by the photo shoot? Only thing that happened to that little boy that day was he got an awesome sugar rush.
The old saying don't judge people till you have walked a mile in their shoes come to mind, get off the PC wagon people and just enjoy it for what it is :)
It is so DAMN CUTE!!!!! And his smile!!!! What an absolute cutie patootie!! And hands up who, as a child, ate dirt anyway and are still here to tell the tale??!! Blooming keyboard warriors s**t me, they have nothing better to do than shame people.
It's gorgeous! Women are so cruel and judgemental until they want to do the same ting to their own child. Bravo Amy!! Phoenix is divine.
This is awesome, and im sure because of this, this kid is going to grow up and be awesome too!!
In other news I think the photo shoot is adorable and fantastic and fitting AND even if she didn't have that story (which is so fitting it's insane) I would still love the shoot because I love zombies and I think zombie kids are exceptionally creepy and this makes my crotchety, child hating a*s smile so THANK YOU for having a sense of humor
How wonderful! I think this is adorable. People need to stop being so overly sensitive.
Hence Phoenix - risen from the ashes. Great name. Long and happy lives to you all. Celebrate like crazy! And I don't think little Phoenix is really eating off the ground. It looks - to me - like he's eating off the inside of a piece of cake on the ground. And I don't care how "offended" someone gets - wishing a child dead is so much more disturbing than any of these photos could ever be. Whoever said that ... get a grip already. If that's part of your personal story and pain, be happy this adorable little guy is around.
This is FABULOUS! And SO fitting for a Halloween baby! <3 <3 The hater? HEY! She DID "lose her baby" - and if you think 13 min is only a second of time, think again. That had to be the worst, and longest. 13 min of her entire life! Celebrate, Mom! I just love this! And, if you have one, think about the picture-board at HS graduation! SO many kids are gonna be SO jealous! Love it love it love it!!!
It's as though modern society, at least the part that speak so loudly online, has forgotten the notion of art through pain and healing through the macabre. Yet, they see no problem with wishing a mother's child to be dead. And although the beautiful irony of this story may not permanently keep the the collective siege of hatred and judgement at bay, I find hope in this family's victory over stupidity.
Sometimes I truly wonder what happened over the last few years. How is it possible that these days people are offended by any fart on twitter and any pic or video that does not answer the needs of the boring mainstream. Now that is something that I call vile and disgusting. To all snowflakes and all other keyboard heroes without a own soul: screw you all :)
I wish I would have thought of this when my daughters were younger ... I raised my oldest on horror movies so this would have been a walk in the park ... I raised both my daughters to understand the difference between reality and fantasy and why horror in cinema is entertainment based on the skewed realities of life ... they get it ... somebody mentioned the word "coddled" and I am full agreement that those parents have been coddling their children hoping they don't have to witness the "horrors" of reality when we all know they will ... the biggest disservice we can do to our children is sheltering them to the point that they are left clueless in the face of reality ... I'm done ranting ... kid is adorable and mom is all right / alright in my book ...
He deserves all her love. I can't understand why people have to disagree with such hateful vitriol. I used to make mud pies and eat weeds.
U is one cool momma & he has the most amazing smile & eyes xxx ignore the haters - he will love this when older Xxx
Love it, but then I am obsessed with The Walking Dead ! It’s brilliant, the cake looks so real ! He is far too young to think anything but cake ! I think the way his mum thinks is healthy, this life is short be thankful for everything you have and have fun, this is obviously what she is doing, so good on her. He is a very cute baby zombie 🧟♀️
Halloween is all about dressing up to celebrate life (All Saint’s Eve) by remembering those who have passed on. This little boy is all dressed up to celebrate his fight for life and he certainly looks like he’s enjoying it. What a lovely littl boy.
That still won't stop people from dissing her. I think it's great. She's celebrating a LOT of stuff right there. P**s on everyone who can't understand!
Remarkable outcome after this mother being thrust into such a disparate state after what she & baby Phoenix experienced. nothing short of a miracle that on Halloween, after 13 mins. baby Phoenix arose for the first time proving how hard he fought to live & mom never really gave up hope. love the fantastical photos of that incredibly beautiful boy in appropriate costume/makeup devouring his red velvet & cream icing brain cake w/ his hands like any other kid would do. it's on a log after all & as kids we all ate a little dirt pies or cakes along the way...
His birthday isi 31st of October. the day of the dead zombies.. what better birthday treat, and kids eat c**p off the floor all the time- i did. it helps fight MRSA ! idiots who live with OCD i feel ya pain.. more hand sanitizer- purile.
I think it's AWESOME....and he is obviously having a great time!! Anyone who wishes the death of someone's child on them is a horrible person and shouldn't even be acknowledged!
I was puzzled by the 'make the child sick eating cake off the dirt'. Is that the worst thing they have to worry about? Have they never had a toddler? Toddlers eat all kinds of c**p, and unless it's actual faeces, vomit or some such, they don't get sick, they build up immunity. Or at least, they should do, they used to, before people got so a**l about hygiene.
How the HELL can you wish someone's baby had died? These so-called mothers are the nastiest, judgiest bunch of bitches.
Even if this adorable kid hadn't almost died, I can't understand the backlash by some people. Why all that hate and negativity? Just a funny and pretty cool photoshoot. What kind of a person would wish another human being to lose their child? Especially over such petty reasons? I hope the mom is doing okay and didn't allow this to get to her.
Some people make me sick. That little guy has the coolest parents in the world I love their sense of irony.
Some people make me sick. That little guy have the coolest parents in the world I love their sense of irony.
People are weak... they are only reflecting their own pain, and doing it on others is so not cool...
People are pansies... The haters are only reflecting their own pain is all..
Even without the back story how the heck do you get from 'child dressed as a zombie' to 'mocking the pain of people who have lost babies'. It's a Halloween costume for goodness' sake. There's plenty of actually offensive costumes out there (every year a few idiots pick some recent tragedy and dress up as victims for a start) and this is what they're getting upset about?
As a horror fan, I can say that people misunderstanding your intentions is annoyingly pervasive. This zombie baby is waaaay more adorable than those pic of babies pretending to be flowers. Flowers just sit there until they shivel. This kid is going to conquer the globe--especially given that he already eluded the Grim Reaper once. Go Phoenix!! Go Phoenix's mom! Not for nothing, but anyone who would wish death on your child because they didn't like a photo shoot is far more monstrous than any zombie baby.
HAHAA BRILLIANT. What a cutie, He'll be a lady killer when he grows up.
Whoever said they wished she had lost her child is just pure evil. She KNOWS how it feels! She felt what it was for your baby to be dead so why the horrible backlash??? Why are people so bitter? There's no point to it...
Of course she could always just bring her child up the way the PC crowd demands which seems to be a contributing factor for increased teen suicides and school shootings.
Well apparently because she DIDN'T lose her son she's not allowed to be happy about it because that hurts other people's feelings. People are deranged.
People can be so judgmental without knowing the truth. When I looked at the pics, I just thought 'how cute' and how great for the little man to have such a fun-loving mum.
That stops people from having an opinion about everything. And without even knowing the whole story start scorn people. I think it is creative, and a little dirt will not kill him.
I'm not "offended", but I find the reason behind it more questionable then the initial photo. Also, putting it on facebook knowing full well there would be a back lash is also questionable.
So you're only half "offended"? How does that work? Why is the 'reason' questionable'? Can you not comprehend what you read? The lady put it on Facebook for the same reason EVERYBODY does. To share a small piece of something she enjoys with others. I question your knowledge of backlash. Are you a closet practitioner? Not everyone expects 'backlash'. Most of us enjoy are fellow man, with no judgments. Your 'questionables' show you are a closet hater/judgemental person. It also shows there is no enjoyment in your life. You need help.
Load More Replies...wait, you mean he's not an ACTUAL ZOMBIE?! hahaha, this is awesome. there isn't a single bit of this that isn't awesome. the fact the kid survived, the fact the mother was able to deal with the situation instead of letting it defeat her, the cake, the whole. damn. thing.
I see a very tough little boy having a great time. The offended snowflakes can go melt. The evil b***h wish death on a little boy because she's offended - well, there's a special place in hell for someone like that.
Do not! For even one second feel like you need to defemd your decisions. YOU know your story! Zombies are. Big thimg today. No one neeeds a reason for this. People think just because its not fr them they need to feel superior by making so!eone else feel inferior. Ridiculous. Mind your own business! Its fkn erfect! In the words of P!nk!Im a Mommymof a stillnorn, not the same. Its always different. But, you know! Its all yours. And HIS! Hes lucky to have an awesome mom like this! 💓 💓
Some vile creature actually wishes this little boy was dead. That is what's disgusting, not these awesome zombie pictures. The mother of this little zombie is ace and doesn't have to explain herself to anyone, let alone an utter d**k who thinks a baby dying is a suitable life lesson in understanding what 'it' feels like. Grotesque.
Absolutely ADORABLE!! I would have done the same thing or similar > People need to grow up and stop judging.. Way to go Mama.. this will be something you two will laugh at for years to come.. :)
I thought it was funny. Before I read the story. Now I think it is adorable
Dont worry bout other people,,hes your child...If I were in your shoes,,I would make it his theme every year and post the hell out of it!!! Theres always gonna be goody two shoes runnin around with their jaw flappin,,let em flap,,,screw em
It's cute. Leave her alone. Btw, my 4 yr old wants a zombie themed birthday for his 5th. So I'm going to have to get a zombie themed cake & decorations. Hope the parents that bring their kids don't get mad at me.
Never judge another! Their story might just prove how stupidly wrong you can be.
I thought it was clever. Because little kids eat cake like zombies eating brains. So I thought it was funny and clever and smart and it’s Halloween too so yeah
Trolls online grasp at straws to make up for their own pathetic lives. Never listen to them :)
I'm reminded of the episode of Family Guy where Brian makes a racist joke because he went to see Baywatch and when he got out a girl threw her soda at him and a mob was outside the theater.
That's sad that people are like that! If we were in her place we would have done the same thing it's creative and cute And It Has A Lot Of meaning Behind It
Those are some really, really horrible comments. 'I wish you had have lost your son.' Don't make judgements until you know the full story. Also, cute photoshoot! Not my sort of thing personally, but I think it's a neat idea, and the kid won't get any sort of mental damage from something like this.
Even before I read the story behind the "Zombie" birthday idea, I thought that those who were so up in arms over it were ridiculously over reacting! Please , he's 1 yr old, he's to young to be scared by it. As long as they wait until he's able to understand to explain it, it's just a dress-up Halloween birthday celebration, and most kids understand the Halloween dress up thing. She is NOT a Terrible Mother! She's celebrating her sons survival! It may be odd but it's her choice! I love her little zombie, and am glad he survived! I'm glad she celebrated!
Don't judge someone by the chapter of their life that you walked in on
I liked It! I also agree he will totally LOVE it when he grows up. It is a very unique birthday theme. Amazing!
Hum seems to me he waited for halloween to be his bday. i say he is special and so should his bdays be. i luv it.
These are wonderful pictures. This family will cherish them forever. Haters are going to hate and that is the terrible truth. So what there is to plate, fancy table cloth, it's all going in the trash anyway. He isn't going to eat that much of it, he is only 1 years old. That brain cake looked so much better than those penis and vagina cakes that are all the rage at adult parties. He probably got way less dirt in his system than playing in the back yard.
It is the Joy of Life that has caused this Mother, the best Mom ever, to take these hilarious and oddly life affirming pics. As for the TROLLS who would wish that her child were dead I say unto you , heavy troubles come unto those who would dare harm one of my smallest of creations. I quote the bible and I don't know from where.
Wtf I think this is cute.... Obv those who said she wished she'd had her child taken or said this was morbid hasn't raised boys...... I mean COME ON XD He's going to ask for this again later in life. Boys are so wonderfully weird to raise. They (most of them, anyways) like blood and guts and especially zombies. Y'all need to chill XD This mom can raise her kid better than any of you can, just simply because its HER KID and mommies know best. XD This will not scar him. Jeez. Too many extra dumbasses in this world XD
It is digusting! But it's Halloween!! It's perfect and he looks thrilled.
I love it! You are such a cool mother!!! When he grows up, I bet, he will show these photos to his friends and make them envy him for his cool mom!
I love the idea of the photo shoot. He is allowed to eat cake with his hands ... on the floor ... and can really mess with the cake - that's the dream of every child.
It's so horrible that people on social media sites can be so vicious, judgmental and ignorant. I think what this beautiful woman did was absolutely awesome. Don't listen to the haters.
Because most people will open their mouths before knowing the stories behind. I am happy that she got her baby back.
People need to grow some sense of humor (and balls). I'm 32 and I remember my dad (RIP) used to take me to the movie theater to watch zombie and horror movies all the time and here I am, sane and raising a kid myself. Who the hell raised all these judgmental cry babies!? they are the worst of humanity.
How the hell could this possibly scar the child's psyche? He's friggin' ONE! As for dirt...unless you think there's anthrax in it, it's probably a whole lot more hygienic than most other things he's already put in his mouth (keys, coins, toys at playgroup...) And to the cow who said she should have lost her son: what f*****g right have you got to say such a sick & hateful thing to ANYONE? To Amy Louise: great & original idea beautifully executed! Ignore the sickos & trolls - you shouldn't bother to defend yourself against their ignorance by enlightening them with your back story since it's none of their business!
This kid is going to have a great life with this hysterical mom. Halloween is my favorite day of the year to just relax and have fun with it!
I would've loved to do this photo shoot!! Imagine Phoenix showing this to his friends when he's older. They will love it!!! People need to stop being offended over every single thing! And for the mom who said she thought the baby should've died, she needs to be smacked in the face. Many of us have lost children and that should never be wished on ANYONE!!! Grow free and beautiful, Phoenix!!!
Like my brother, he'll use these to snare girlfriends. (My brother spent his first 8 months in intensive care. He took mom's pictures and showed them to girls, and got a lot of 'oh, how *cute* girlfriendsthat way!)
It never ceases to amaze me that complete strangers can make such snap judgements about someone else's decisions. You don't live in my house, you don't walk in my shoes and you don't pay the consequences. BUTT THE F**K OUT of other people's choices. I, personally, am not a fan of the whole "Zombie" craze. That's MY choice, obviously not hers, so it's basically NONE OF MY BUSINESS how she chooses to photograph her child. She's not causing any"irreparable"harm - the kid's eating CAKE for Christ sake. How upset could he possibly be?
If this was his first birthday photoshoot, I can't wait to see what he and his mom come up with for future birthdays and momentous occasions. It's creative and just plain awesome
well it;s weird no matter the emotional story behind it, but everyone has to realize the kid is so young, he has no idea what;s going on. all he knows is his mother is taking pictures of him while he pigs out on yummy cake. The only emotional scars that would come from this are the ones the parents bear from everyone else trying to bully here into feeling guilty for nothing
I wouldn't have done a zombie theme, I would've done more of an angle theme, I'd considered this baby a miracle, not a monster!
I think I would've done an angel theme, more than a zombie theme. I'd call this baby a miracle, not a monster :)
He is sooo cute!!! And I love the zombie theme and the quirky sense of humor. What a little miracle!
Some people are so quick to judge others for any perceived failures that they can't see that it is themselves who are the ones who are at fault for their ignorance on other people's lives and for then holding their own prejudices as fact. Looks like wee Phoenix has grown up to be a happy wee man in a loving family, glad you shared this !!
Who cares did the child enjoy it and have fun if so that is the whole point everyone gets so upset by things like this when there are so many more bad things happening in this world far worse than a kid eating a cake
I am not fond of these photos, but the little guy seems to have so much fun - plus I don't think that at this tender age he would know what a zombie really is - so let them be!! As for the woman who wished that she lost her son - her behaviour is 100x more shocking and disgusting than any of these photos!!!!
Concept brilliantly executed. Let the haters yell their throats out.
What's worse making a cake for your son in which he has no understanding of the imagery or people verbally attacking his mother and wishing he was dead? Good thing he was not older cause he would have seen the real ugly side of this world.
People have become so judgemental over every little thing! I think it's a great way to celebrate his birthday what with the back story. The boy will not get traumatized, it's just a cake, which i bet he found delicious. And if you only knew what kids eat when they are small. So a little dirt won't harm him. You can't bubble wrap your own kids and then flip out that others don't do the same. I think people should mind their own business and tend to their OWN kid instead of pointing fingers at other mothers. I send all of my sympathy to this mother, and i want her to know that she is doing a great job.
What will the baby think? You know what? He will think, "OMG! CaKe!!!!!!"
It is proven that very few people remember things from their past before 4 years old unless there are pictures. Even so, I doubt this was traumatizing. It looks pretty damn cool to me.
People are way to busy judging other people without even asking about background. Not that it even matters, we should not judge each other unless it's directly criminal
How do you interpret - cute zombie cake photo shoot to not appreciating your kid. Like bruh... wtf. These people are so sensitive that if I poked them, they would want to go to the hospital.
In my opinion everyone is free to theme their photoshoot to their liking. Obvisouly in this case that was a fairly private, emotional reason. I don't think that should be problem. Why the person had to share this private idea with the rest of the world, will remain a secret. Maybe these photos should have been enjoyed in private, according to the nature of their origin...
Dont listen to what others say if it's not true (I think the costumes amazingly well done) And I was so "WOW WHAT!" when I saw that your son was dead then came back to life on Halloween
You know what? It is NO ONE ELSE’S damn business!!!!! You’re his Mom! It’s your right as a parent to celebrate however you want!!! I’m sure there are some stupid birthday party themes in everybody’s past that make them embarrassed & these people so insecure!!!! Lol Having watched my oldest son being taken from my wife’s stomach at 25 weeks gestation in an emergency C-section, I KNOW what it’s like to beg & pray that he lived! He wasn’t considered a live birth! We had to apply for a birth certificate for him to play t-ball!!! He just turned 23 & getting married October 2019!!!! We were once told to raise our children the way we wanted to raise our children! & I think they turned out pretty damn good!!!! I’ll give you that same advice!!!!
Backstory notwithstanding, this photo shoot is AWESOME. The kid’s commitment is extra! LightenTF up, folks.
oh for f**k sake, its a baby dressed in costume eating a cake that looks like a brain, ppl need to either f**k off or lighten the f**k up....where is their outrage at child slave labour or child soldiers
Y'ALL... just shut the hell up and let this woman and her baby have fun. My word!
I have a Halloween baby as well, she is now 31. When she was in grade 4 came home in tears, teacher said she was a devil's child because of her birthdate. In South Africa not much is made of Halloween, but this mother totally broke out and we had Halloween themed birthday parties every year since then, people freaked out. Halloween THEMED parties, not slaughtering babies and eating them!!!
Despite the story behind it is still disgusting and tasteless. This zombie s**t is disgusting anyway. It has nothing to do with humour but with a lack of abstraction ability. I do NOT want to have those pictures in my mind. They make me feel sick.
I don't get why people would see a zombie themed photoshoot with a small child and instantly assume it's making light/fun of those who have lost babies. It makes no sense at all. Since when are zombies automatically making fun of people who had miscarriages or had babies die young?
IMHO: креативно и прикольно. А этим занудам, для которых все это "ненормально" "непраильно" "омерзительно", могу сказать только одно - идите на...!
Although... I am kinda getting tired of the whole Zombies thing, cant we fixate on Mummies, or home made monsters like Frankenstein. I mean there is a whole world of scary c**p out there to imitate. OH! I know resurrected Ronald Reagan fights Donald Trump , and Vlad Putin fights Zombie Lenin, and Werewolf Yeltsin, and Frankenstein's Gorbachev. Yes I am home alone and bored out of my mind, but just think about it.
13 minutes without a heartbeat. Very lucky kid, only time will tell if there will be any permanent damage from it though.
At First I was like OMG how does A Mother Do But I read on I Wanted To Cry,It Had A Heartwarming Ending.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋👶🏼👶🏼👶🏼👶🏼👶🏻👶🏼👶🏼👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧👩👧🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼
Even though the pictures aren't very pleasant it's still amazing what happened to that child.
Lot of sick people hating on this mom for what? He had a zombie cake...he is one ffs, he has no idea what is going on other than he has a cake all to himself! I really loath the type of people who judge someone online not knowing them!
you gotta eat some dirt when you're young, how do these people think you develop an immune system? I feel bad for the kids of the people that had ugly things to say about this. they are the real victims here if there are any at all
I think the photoshoot looks cool, the brain cake looked real to be for a sec 😂😍
I am so happy your little one is alive and healthy ...the only curse you have and that I share is you have a weird sense of humor ...and Jade is right he will love these pictures
All I can say is.....Freekin Amazing!!!!!! Love love these awesome photos!!! Amazing story as well. Rising from the ashes...Amazing!!
I love the photos, and the story behind them. <3 Phoenix is precious little zombie, and he is going to love these photos when he gets older.
Waow these pictures are so cool. All his friends and included himself will think that he got the coolest mom ever
He's just 12 months old, he doesn't understand what a zombie is, or that he's supposed to be eating flesh and stuff like that. How is it damaging to his mental health? If he could grasp the concept of zombies, he'd be frightened and probably 5-6 years older...
While it's not what I would do and I do find it odd, I would never wish her son to have died, THAT is what a bad/evil parent says and she doesn't deserve that at all. He's very cute!
Let's be clear about this, anyone that would wish someone else's child to die isn't a mother. I don't care if the worthless moron has kids, she isn't a mother.
She shouldn't have explained anything. You don't need a reason to be a cool parent and do something awesome with your kid. Just ignore the snowflakes and do it for the rest of us. Very cool !
I don't care what the kid dressed up as. Moms thinking process is odd
i think its cute. for as far as im consirmed he looks like he wanted it to happen and he also looks like he is having fun lay off them hes not crying. theres no signs of him showing he was even crying before the pictures were taken.
I didnt even think that about his namem how perfect! I love this Moms brain!! .... I wish to eat your brain, Mom! Lol see, zombie-appropriate! 💓
Awww his is Just the cutest little zombie ever... and... Really... first birthdays are more for the parents then they are for the kids so... who really cares if its an "Appropriate" themed birthday and his birthday is HALLOWEEN of course it would be a creepier theme... Get over it people O_o
This is awesome. Special story, special even, how can people be so heartless to people?! This is very clever and this kid will love these photos in a few years!!!
It's cool. I think people should stop limiting what other people do especially when it does not concern them at all. This photoshoot is about the mother and the son, let them have it. People who find offense in this need to realize that it was never about them!
Such a beautiful little boy! I love this photo shoot! Can’t wait to see the next and the next. And how in the world would this photo shoot possibly scar him??? That’s ridiculous! May I suggest a Frankenweinie shoot for his 2nd bday!!!!?
I'm happy for you that your son survived his tumultuous birth (I also had a very tiny preemie baby who is now middle-aged!). But I still think the whole zombie thing is gross and stomach churning. However, it's your choice. But you will have to deal with the nay-sayers.
Love it!!! Absolutely no judgement here, it’s an awesome and original way to celebrate his birthday. And yes, I lost a baby at birth, but this has nothing do with it. Lighten up people, it’s all in good fun.
Paedofanatics will Be paedofanatics. They love nothing more than being outraged at anything short of child-worshipping.
Everyone to their own.its only like taking pics of him while he's dressed up to trick or treat.I don't know why the story of his birth would shut haters up though.
by the way have you ever dropped a piece of food on the ground and with ot thinking picked it up and eaten it, i have so I am discusting to
I also call my nephew zombie. He died in January. http://www.stjohns.co.zw/news-college/college-appeal-mhikoyamwari-makonese/
let's just put our thoughts to ourselves. what good will it do to chastise her? it made her feel good, good for her! her posting it on line is her choice too and whatever results she got is her for the taking. i guess our that's just it.
It is creepy and disgusting how hateful some people can be. Often I think we need to do something about those haters. But, we also need to do something about „what you share“ I think this photoshoot is cute, especially with the story behind. But also I think that pictures of children doesn‘t belong in the internet. That this should be something for family and friends. Maybe I‘m oldschool, even if I don‘t think I‘m that old, but I just don‘t understand these kind of sharings with the whole world.
Even with this backstory, for me it's still a NO to this photoshoot. But it's her decision so...
I will say, I think that the reasons given in the article are decent enough. Though I do admit that a violent zombie photo shoot is a little extreme.
Load More Replies...At his age? He knows the cake is chocolate and has lots of frosting he can lick off. ANd mom's lettinghim eat it with his hands. That's all.
So it's okay to dress your 1 year old girl up as a half naked ballerina, and film her falling face-first into her cake, but to celebrate a child coming back to life in an appropriate way for his birthdate isn't? Honey, you're sick!
Actually it's not disgusting the fact of him being a zombie for that photo shoot is representing the fact that she thought she was going to lose her baby but he can back and now he's alive and well and zombies are sometimes known as the walking dead like they're dead but alive. Also she doesn't need people like you in the comments being so negative she already had people telling her she should've lost the baby
And you're a troll for the downvotes and attention.
Load More Replies...I'm pretty sure he's had lots of other experiences in the first year of his life. It's not like it will have any effect on him or his life - he has no idea what a zombie even is. And did you even read why SHE chose a zombie theme?
Load More Replies...If you genuinely are a psychiatrist it seems pretty unprofessional and foolish to make a public assertion about her mental state based on one social media post without having actually assessed them yourself.
Do you actually remember your first birthday? I highly doubt it. Think before you speak/type. Otherwise you'll just be making a fool of yourself
Maybe it's just me, but I don't find a kid in a costume to be creepy, no matter the theme.
Load More Replies...Cici, you are one of the idiots. Do you, and you will be the only who will do you because eww, and leave this woman and her family alone.
Angels and Phoenixes aren't real, but Zombies are - that's obviously why she chose the theme ;-D
Why? He didn't die. I know a woman whose child died at birth, so she celebrates her angel every year. This mother seems to be a lot more centered. The kid was born on Halloween--he's going to get a LOT of flack from kids his own age all his life, just because kids are little monsters! And I can't see ANY young male wanting to be thought an angel.
