Being only 12 years old, I never imagined I would be in a situation like this, and maybe some of you are feeling the same way right now. Schools being closed, not being able to visit anyone, or even leave my house, and not having any idea of when this will all end. I know if I didn’t have my pets, this situation would be beyond stressful and hard for me. Having severe anxiety and sensory processing disorder has made it even worse for me. The uncertainty of it all makes me worry, and I’m sure many of you out there are worried too. But there is one thing I can always count on to help me. My pets.

Ollie, Rosie, Poppy, and Figgy have changed my life in extraordinary ways. But never have I thought they would help me in a way like this. Sadly, many people portray Sphynx cats as being “mean or ugly”, and they are always the “bad guys” in movies. But what I think people need to realize is Sphynx cats are more than “mean, ugly cats”. They are incredibly sweet, loving, and playful kitties. My cats have truly helped to brighten every one of my days, and this wouldn’t be the same without them. I see them as not just pets but as family. Every day is better than the last with them in my life. They always cheer me up and make me happier.

If you are struggling with the stress of this pandemic as well, why not go to your pets? You may not realize it, but they are always there for you, ready to give endless love to you. Take some time out of your day to really love on your pets and then you may realize that you may have been taking their love for granted. Especially if you have to be out working or taking care of others during this time, going home to your pets could be a great time to sit and try and relax with them.

This is a very unprecedented time, and your pets may be able to help you more than you think. If you don’t have pets, still take this time to think about ANYTHING that you may have taken for granted. Or just go watch some videos or photos of Rosie and her family and let that brighten your day!
