What's the best thing about watching Game Of Thrones? Reading everything about it after you've watched it! We know a lot about the famous show's characters: their likes and dislikes, their passions and fears, whether or not they're involved in an incestuous relationship, the number of dragons they possess, etc. The performances are so captivating that we often forget that Game of Thrones actors are real people beneath Cersei Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen. Often these famous actors and actresses have appeared in many other productions before their appearance on HBO's most popular series. And since we already know who's going out with who, now is the time to see how our beloved Game of Thrones cast looked when they were young (or in some cases - kids) in this 'then and now' photo compilation.
Take a look at this list, compiled by Bored Panda, and see if you can find your favorite GoT cast member before they arrived in Westeros. If you're yearning for more Game of Thrones trivia - check our post on Game of Thrones Facts That You Probably Didn't Know.

Jason Momoa As Jason (In 2003's Baywatch) And As Khal Drogo (In GoT)
I saw him with his family last weekend at a local restaurant. He still has the long hair ( wears it in a man bun). He is a big guy. It's like a God came down from Mount Olympus. I couldn't concentrate all day after.
Diana Rigg As Emma Peel (In 1961's The Avengers) And As Olenna Tyrrel (In GoT)
I wanted to BE Emma Peel growing up in the 60s.
Load More Replies...Always a stunner and I think her casting alongside Natalie Dormer as Grandmother and granddaughter was perfect!!
Wow Magaery looks just like her younger self! Sure they're not really related ;)?
Young Kit Harington And As Jon Snow (In GoT)
Do you notice Theon Greyjoy behind Jon Snow in the first picture!? :))) And here is another cool thing: http://www.boubaltii.com/diabolic-tutor-vs-ramsay-bolton/
Apart from being gorgeous he is quite a good actor, seriously putting all into his part. I expect much more from him in the future, but I fear that his size might deny him many good parts. Nowadays a man must be tall! God knows why!?
Gwendoline Christie As Lexi (In 2012's Wizards Vs. Aliens) And As Brienne Of Tarth (In GoT)
it's the same nose, just photographed at a different angle and with different lighting. It's a beautiful., classical 'Roman' nose. Don't understand the comments about it.
Load More Replies...She is a much needed example of honor and oath keeping. These two attributes are much needed for the women of the world
She is beautiful, truly, in GOT she had to look more manly, more like a worrier
Brienne cleans up well. Oh Jaime... Jaime Lannister... Forget about yer crazy sister/wife. hehe
Iain Glenn As Carl Galton (In 1988's The Fear) And As Ser Jorah Mormont (In GoT)
he'll probably look even better in another 10 ~
Load More Replies...Peter Dinklage As Finbar Mcbride (In 2003's The Station Agent) And As Tyrion Lannister (In GoT)
Peter more than any other actor on Got has over come tremendous prejudice being a dwarf has not stopped a great actor from showing the world he is not to be overlooked or typecast
CALL ME ELF ONE MORE TIME!!! **he's an angry ELF* Awesome!
Load More Replies...I think he is a very good looking man! I am 5'4" and that is tall for my family, except my children. My mother was 5', one sister is 4' 10", another at 5' 1", and my 16 year old daughter is 5'1". The term dwarf annoys my daughter to death, when she gets called a dwarf she says, "Do you see a battle axe?? NO?? Cause dwarves carry battle axes and I don't!"
Peter Dinklage, is an awesome actor, but that top picture is just not him!
He truly is the most famous dwarf in the world ! Most of all he is the greatest actor and the most honourable man I have ever known. I wish very much to meet him and to know him in my lifetime here on this planet. I know we have much in common. He knows much.
Young Kristofer Hivju And As Tormund Giantsbane (In GoT)
Wow young one is ... wow!! Would date without a second thought. But I bet that present one must be quite nice too once he went to shower.
Brienne is crazy. Bring me that wildling. hehe Brienne should reconsider this man. DAMN!
Charles Dance As David Carlton (In 2002's Ali G Indahouse) And As Tywin Lannister (In GoT)
I adored him as the hit man with the glass eye in Last Action Hero! Hilarious!
Lena Headey As Young Mary (In 1992's Waterland) And As Cersei Lannister (In GoT)
I think u should show a pic when she was queen Morgana in 300, proves she can play a strong beautiful smart queen role even on the good side ????
Cersei Lannister was the 1 character of GOTs for the first 5 seasons i must be honest & say i truly hated but her ending was not appropriate to say the least
Very good! I may even prefer her younger version. It is nearly like shape-shifting!
This lady who also I believe act as a Queen in yet another historic film, the Vikings. she is a good actor.
A couple of nasty hags called Lena an evil pretentious b***h. Pot calling the kettle black! I love Lena and Cersei. She has and amazing capability of love that drove her. Sadly she lost her babies... and she always knew it would happen. F*****g twat millennials.
Emilia Clarke When She Was A Child And As Daenerys Targaryen
She is one to watch she made a terrific Younger Sarah Conner in the terminator reboot this last year she has the acting chops to go a long way
They could have put a photo from 2010's Triassic Attack Screen-Sho...00x175.jpg
Either way she's beautiful, & Daenerys Targaryen was kinda of naive @ 1st but became very vindictive & cruel
I agree with Aaron, she is an actress with greatness in her. Yet so is nearly all the cast of GoT. Her face as a child did not promise such beauty as she shows now.
this has been stuck for a while in my mine but why cant they do something with her eyebrows color? blond hair yet brown eyebrows is just so weird
Sean Bean As Horace Clark (In A 1984 Episode Of The Bill) And As Ned Stark (In GoT)
Yes, Boromir is still my fave character played by him!
Load More Replies...Ned stark got the raw end of the deal with joffery when robert died & i totally totally felt sorry for his 👪 for what happened
could have post a pic from golden eye that was much better and hotter
Carice Van Houten As Suzy (In 1999's Suzy Q) And As Melisandre (In GoT)
actually, this young photo is not like her. 578c93c7558d0.jpg
All other actor photos I could mix and match them back. Not this one. Looks like an entirely different person.
This lady on GOTs was just as Aryan stark said you're a 🧙♀️ & how right she was about it i spotted it from the moment she appeared on the show
Maisie Williams When She Was A Child And As Arya Stark (In GoT)
And of course you had to take the GOT picture where she looks the most awful ever... -_-
If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all then!
Load More Replies...Cuteness overload is right but, have to say i love Arya stark as she grew after Ned's death, & how she survived
Maisie, she is good, but her accent is bad and also she needs to work on her pronunciation, some words cannot be understood; e.g. “ I’m going to kill the queen” in that scene with the soldiers in the river lands, sounded like:” ..I’m .goin to ill the queen “... very bad slouching of words! You have to think hard to understand her sometimes. That will hold her back in her career. That is not too much to ask!
Very sweet, as she was growing up in the series, and she is an actress to watch as well!
Sophie Turner When She Was A Child And As Sansa Stark (In GoT)
Poor thing. Has to frown on the show all the time when she has a beautiful smile
Sansa Stark could& should have told the truth when confronted by Cersei & Robert about what Joffery had done & i understand why Arya hated her for lying, & she paid for it throughout her life in king's landing
No, she didn’t! But she was a beauty in the making. Though there was not too much smiling to do on the “show “.
As a Queen to a tyrant child child king, her performance is commendable.
Young Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson And As The Mountain (In GoT)
World strongest Viking, world strongest man - always finish in top 3! Amazing man
Aidan Gillen As Frank (In 2000's The Low Down) And As Petyr Baelish (In GoT)
Dude- he was in the maze runner and was like the most hated character ever. I did not need to say that but he killed my favorite character and I will forever hate the actor and whoever he plays in any movie because of it-- that was to emotionally draining smh
He's great. And this picky and secretive look he has like he's always planning something in his head - this is professional play!
Petyr Baelish was a man not to be trusted & alot of people learned that the hard way....smh though he's a great actor...his character is very very cruel
Wherever he is slithering about, I can recognise him already by his voice and his way to speak. He is working a lot these days!
Rose Leslie As Gwen Dawson (in 2010's Downton Abbey) And As Ygritte (in Got)
Seen Kit in an interview and he said he hates that little saying,You know nothing Jon Snow.He said ,I know lots of things.
Load More Replies...She will be most probably be remembered as Ygritte and Chloe, more than the rest of her roles, in the years and decades to come...
Load More Replies..."Jon Snow knew more than you Ygritte" obviously as he lived, & you died 😢...even your boss the king beyond the wall died so who was right in the end???
A true English girl, though I don’t like her backyard accent. She needs to lose that! I wish her a lot of happiness with Kit !
Natalie Dormer As Victoria (In 2005's Casanova) And As Margaery Tyrell (In GoT)
Margaery Tyrell was in my opinion a black Widow 🕷 who marries men & then gets them killed for the $$$,& jewels & moves on...
Tom Wlaschiha (In 2008's Spoons) And As Jaqen H'gar (In GoT)
Because the first time we met him he gave a fake name and it kinda stuck for us to call him by
Load More Replies...Er war auch in Krabat schon großartig... Aber in in Game of Thrones ist er göttlich <3
Ross Mullan As Puppeteer (In 2007's Bear Behaving Badly) And As White Walker (In GoT)
Thomas Brodie-Sangster As Sam (In 2003's Love Actually) And As Jojen Reed (In GoT)
Very cute and I recognise him anywhere. Saw him as a gambler in a film about a famous check player. I like him very much.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau As Martin (In 1997's Nightwatch) And As Jaime Lannister (In GoT)
Probably the hottest actor on GoT!!! He has one warped sense of humor too.
Get your facts straight Boredpanda :) It's 1994. The 1997 one starred Ewan McGreggor. Cheers.
my only comment on this character was eww when it came to him & cersei they were brother/sister but also lovers that is wrong on so many levels & their father didn't know or chose not to know it???
Young Kristian Nairn And As Hodor (In GoT)
Aww need more votes! Love he still plays World of Warcraft and got a tattoo on his arm of it. Probably why Hodor always wore long sleeves, lest they have to explain Lady Sylvanus to GoT fans lol
Young Gwendoline Christie And As Brienne Of Tarth (In GoT)
She looks more girly like with a fringe. In GoT she had to look and be more a man than a woman
Michelle Fairley As Teresa Doyle (In 1990's Hidden Agenda) And As Catelyn Stark (In GoT)
She was a great woman, & mother & had to give her applause when she slit the little wince throat in wardley Frey house as they killed her whole family & pregnant daughter in law in front of her
Jennifer Ehle would have been great as Catelyn Stark, though Michelle Fairly did an impeccable job as well.
Max Von Sydow As Antonius Block (In 1957's The Seventh Seal) And As Three-Eyed Raven (In GoT)
Have long been a fan of Max von Sydney ever since I first saw him years ago , he was a great planetoligist Kyle in the David Lynch Dune 1984 ,
He made a good Ming The Merciless in Flash Gordon. He was Ming The Merciless In Flash Gordon.
Young Iwan Rheon And As Ramsay Bolton (In GoT)
Holy c**p, it never occurred to me how similar he and Andy Serkis look! o.O
Load More Replies...It's so hard to watch him here; he was my favorite on Misfits and he was such a little dork!
He played that one creepy kid in Misfits. I guess him being bullied snapped his brain
Richard Madden As Young Andy (in 2000's Complicity) And As Robb Stark (In GoT)
Proof that the nerd you bully and laugh at will one day make more money than you and be hotter than hell!
"Someday i will be a king and my bullies will bow to me" sorry for your future, kid
What? He is just a boy, still... when the first grey hairs come, he will be more serious
Liam Cunningham As The Onion Knight (In 1995's First Knight) And As Ser Davos (In GoT)
What! The Onion Knight, haha, that is his name in GoT too... he was destined for this role.
This was a misprint *sigh* His character in "First Knight" was Agravaine. He was not called "The Onion Knight" in that movie. That's only what Davos is called.
Load More Replies...WTF???.....of his name wasn't the onion knight in that movie....it was Agravaine....how do these people think that they can get away with such c**p
what??!....he was not called the onion knight in the first knight....he played agravaine...a knight of the round table...
Oh FFS. He WAS NOT called "The Onion Knight" in "First Knight". He was Agravaine. The only character that's called the Onion Knight is Davos. On a side note: I also loved him as Captain Crewe in "A Little Princess" <3 One of my most favorite childhood movies
*facepalm* He was NOT called "The Onion Knight" in First Knight. That's a nickname that Davos carries. He was Agravaine in "First Knight". JFC Also, LOVED him in "A Little Princess" -- one of my most favorite movies from when I was a kid! :D
Mark Addy As David 'Dave' (In 1997's The Full Monty) And As Robert Baratheon (In GoT)
Mark Addy must be a good actor because I know him from other roles but never recognized him on GoT.
Also very convincing! Was he fat or did he have to put on extra weight for that part ?
Alfie Allen As Arundel's Son (In 1998's Elizabeth) And As Theon Greyjoy (In GoT)
I think his core competency is crying in a way that makes you feel sorry for the character
His character is very complicated and hard for playing... But this guy is doing great!
Whatever he shows, he truly embodies it. His terror of Ramsey, I could feel it through the television! And his dilemma of being of two big houses and having to choose one, he shows that very well!
I don't know how the wear these costumes, they look like they hurt.
He was just made out to be stupid & an idiot & ramsay Bolton took advantage & took it too far turning him into a mentally challenged man who was afraid of his own shadow
Ever since his...incident with Ramsay, he's Theon Greyjoyless to me
Didn't like him much at the beginning of the series, but he's in my top 5 now... Thanks to Alfie and the way he plays Theon.
Young Jerome Flynn And As Bronn (in Got)
With my daughter at a local village event in 1999 near where we both live, totally lovely bloke. 28August-1...c7ceb6.jpg
Jonathan Pryce As Sam Lowry (In 1985's Brazil) And As High Sparrow (In GoT)
He was also Elizabeth Swan's father in Pirates of the Caribbean! :)
You are brilliant!! I knew I recognised him but couldn't for the life of me figure out where I'd seen him!
Load More Replies...Wow yes Brazil is an EPIC must see film ...a bit dated but truelly for its time ground breaking
He is made out to be a indecent man & i think he was a scapegoat for cersei & him for her as what they did to her was awesome & she had it coming...
Rory McCann As Kenny Mcleod (in 2002's The Book Group) And As Sandor Clegane Aka The Hound (In GoT)
He was also the Yarp guy in Hot Fuzz and he was in an advert for porridge oats. :D
I saw it on Youtube - yes, I would buy those oats :)
Load More Replies...Do you select every actor by his or her “sexiness “? That is a bit flat, don’t you think? These actors can do much more than just being sexy( in your eyes) , not in mine.)
Still can't believe this is the "Yarp" guy from Hot Fuzz too, still blows my mind.
Conleth Hill As Roache (In 1992's Blue Heaven) And As Lord Varys (In GoT)
According to Peter Dinklage, Conleth is the most hilarious person on set. You wouldn't know by how he plays Varys, but I could see it.
👀 him with hair is kind of scary after 8 seasons of,GOTs without hair...but is a great actor
Just saw him on the stage in Macbeth with Frances McDormand and he looks different from either of those!
Isaac Hempstead Wright As Tom Hill (In 2011's The Awakening) And As Bran Stark (In GoT)
I didn't either and I just watched it a month ago!
Load More Replies...Bran was 10 yrs old & got paralyzed because he climbed the tower on his family property & saw something he shouldn't have...but didn't let it get him down!
Charles Dance As Anthony Bowles (In 1988's Pascali's Island) And As Tywin Lannister (In GoT)
distracted by Helen Mirren. I hope I could be half as hot as her at her age.
Why did I automaticaly assumed that it was blood on the sheets in the first picture? Too much GOT. -_-
Jack Gleeson As Little Boy (In 2005's Batman Begins) And As Joffrey Baratheon (In GoT)
He's a fantastic actor, but I don't envy his agent when trying to find new roles for him :-D
Load More Replies...we all hated his guts when he was a part of GOT. That alone proves how good he played his role.
Batman made him promise to do something great in life. I don't think he meant this :P
Are you really hate him that much? So the GoT pic you put is his death picture? LOL...he's a good actor though...
He played one role and the whole world started hating him. This speaks enough how great he played!
Omg could've showed a different still of him, frightened the bejeebies out of me that did ????????????
Ik this is probably wrong of me but the way he treated people the way he died was fitting. No matter who did it
Stephen Dillane As Michael Henderson (In 1997's Welcome To Sarajevo) And As Stanis Baratheon (In GoT)
Richard Brake As Pierce Tencil (In 1996's Subterfuge) And As Night's King (In GoT)
Michael Mcelhatton As Raymond 'Rats' Doyle (In 2001's Paths To Freedom) And As Roose Bolton (In GoT)
Oh common! What is the fun with everyone strutting the same nose?!
Load More Replies...David Bradley As Colin Woodcock (In 1971's A Family At War) And As Walder Frey (In GoT)
From Filch to William Hartnell (the First Doctor) to Solomon (also on Doctor Who) to Walder Frey...I have such conflicting feelings about his characters he portrays!
Walder Frey is much better in Harry Potter than in GOTs...still a grouchy old man but better in Harry Potter..sorry
I liked his character in "Broadchurch". I think that's the first time I've liked a character I've seen him play XDDD
That isn't Ross Mullan in #20's before pic, that's Barney Harwood. Ross is much older.
Huge improvement for the majority of them. Ramsey looked pretty damn good in both his pictures though .. :3
