With the wedding season in full swing, many of us are excited to witness how two people venture on a journey together through life. We're eager for elegant ceremonies and magical moments, and we expect to cherish these memories for years to come. But in the real world, weddings are far from the dazzling and perfect affairs many of us imagine. Because you see, some couples seem to go out of their way to show everyone that taste really is a matter of preference.
To prove that some celebrations of love look like anything but fairy tales, members of the 'Trashy' subreddit shared snaps of the wild and tasteless things they’ve ever spotted at a wedding. With the tagline, "All things Trashy!", this online community has set out on a mission to expose the low-class nuptial disasters.
From outrageous invitations to mothers-in-law who turn up in bridal gowns, we at Bored Panda wrapped up a compilation of photos that vividly illustrate how bad things can get. Continue scrolling, upvote the ones you loved hating the most and be sure to share your own stories with us in the comments! And if you think you can handle even more wedding horror stories, check out our earlier publications about nightmare wedding guests and the most shame-worthy wedding examples.

Since 2012, the 'Trashy' online group has amassed over 2.8 million members. A few thousand people scroll through the page at any given time and are always on the lookout for some juicy pictures to pop up at the top. The moderators stated that this is a humor subreddit where they forbid bullying or toxic behavior. Moreover, they don’t allow heated discussions about social and political topics, explaining that you’re not going to change the world by arguing in a place where people laugh at drunk people making fools of themselves in public.
According to the moderators, this is a perfect place for people to poke fun at "trashy stories, trashy glamour, all things fake, plastic, and downright trashy, low-class, no-class, white trash, bimbos, and damn proud." Those looking after the page also added that posts on the group need to be funny, and they need to be a celebration of trashiness. "If it makes you angry then it doesn’t belong here," the moderators added.

But this does beg the question, what does trashy actually mean? Well, the internet meme database Know Your Meme stated that the term trashy is used in a derogatory way to describe something extremely low-quality or inappropriate. "It is used as an antonym of 'classy' and typically refers to human behavior that is undesirable. Someone who is considered 'trashy' or behaving in such a manner typically exhibits selfish or grotesque actions with no remorse, especially when being inconsiderate," they explained.

Weddings Are Fun
I'm actually an officiant for weddings. After the first one had this issue, I always make an announcement before the ceremony starts that "the couple has paid good money for a professional photographer. Please keep your phones down"
I made it clear to the couple when they hired me. I told them to tell their friends not to take photos. It, of course, was not always successful, but it helped.
Load More Replies...Yea. No. I asked for a phone free ceremony at the request of the photographer. The audio didn't come out on the professional video, but the person who ignored our request got video of our vows with audio. I love every single picture I got from the photog, but the phones got some great pictures too. One uncle ignored the request & wound up getting some photos that the photog used. One uncle, who brought his camera, followed our request & missed some shots he really wanted to get. My point is, as a photographer you should be able to maneuver around the amateurs or be able to politely tell them they are in your shot.
Like. Yes, don't move in the way of the photographer. No, don't ban other photos. There are more photos to be had than the photographer can take. And they're free. I don't like the idea that the photographer has a monopoly on photos. And people have brought cameras to weddings long before there were phone cameras.
Load More Replies...Don't photographers take a 1000 photos at these weddings? And tbh these photos are often displayed for a short time and most are stored away. Or tossed after a divorce.
Thousands. And we don’t actually charge by the photograph. We charge for our time. Our time is spent mulling over those thousands we took, batch editing, then creating the absolute pile of projects our CLIENTS paid for.
Load More Replies...When I was hired to photograph weddings I really hated those people.
That’s 1 of about 12 reasons I stopped doing wedding photography.
Load More Replies...Same. And if I hear one more a*****e talk about how photoshop works, I’m going to scream.
Load More Replies...I don't blame the photographer for being upset. Yes, put away the damn phones!!!!!!!!
My sister in law is a 'Sister' (nun) and tends to use that to her advantage. She did this not at one, but two of my children's weddings. At the first, my daughter, it was a very small 'Covid' wedding in the backyard but we did have a prof photographer. Sister was constantly getting IN BETWEEN the photographer and the subject of the photo. Not candid shots- posed shots of bride, groom, etc. She would walk right in front of the photographer with her iPad! Fast fwd 6 months to my son's much larger wedding. Inside cathedral. Priest had to literally remove the iPad from her hands. It was so embarrassing and she just laughed it off. This is a 67 year old "woman" who has zero clue on life. Then she got drunk at the reception. Just
Not even the same picture on the phone. Looks like someone just wanted to ruin the shot. Besides there are far more discreet ways of taking a picture than getting in the way of the photographer. I have a few cute photos of my little bros wedding that I took from the sidelines out of the way of the photographers.
I'm confused. Is this photoshopped? Guest's phone has different image.
A relative brought her IPad to my daugher's wedding and held the big, whomping thing up in the air to record stuff. It was blocking the view of people standing behind her and no one ever saw the video she was recording.
At my age, I should no longer be stunned when I see people who truly seem oblivious to the fact that they are not in a bubble. She seems SO focused on her task, not only is the photographer not considered, but neither the bride and groom are either.
Drew the same conclusion at school events, all these nimmies videotaping something they should be watching live and likely might watch once on video - in the meantime a pro videographer is inconspicuously filming the whole thing for free distribution.
I’m sure the bride is happy with this guest ruining these shots too.
Why do people need to do that? Just request for the prints from the couple if you want them.
Erm, walk to the left to get a clear shot? It's your job to work around these issues. Also, this looks photoshopped.
No, it is not your job to work around idiots. A professional photographer sets up angles and backgrounds. Using this fake post as an example, the background is great. If the photographer has to take steps to the left, the background changes and that takes away the value of the shot. I went to rehearsals to set up angles, lighting and more to make sure the value received by the couple was the best. Some shots are split second. Aunt B*tch standing in front of me with her iphone is not going to print out a 10x12 photo with the head partially chopped off and her thumb showing.
Load More Replies...I am very confused? Is this just what……what r they saying, is it the groom or the father?
I think the photographer is annoyed they couldn't get a clear shot of the bride being walked up the aisle by her father to the groom because of the obstruction, which also blocked the groom at the other end
Load More Replies...Why can't you just take another photo.? It's all digital photography now anyway. It's not like years ago when you only knew a photo was rubbish when you developed it. And the guest may well be wanting to keep their photo for a special reason. Like a picture they can frame or put into a family album. It's not just the bride and groom that want to have momentos of the wedding day but friends, and relatives too.
I believe it was just the photographer making a point without calling out any customers in specific.

Since the wedding season is here to provide members of this online community with plenty of content, they don’t waste a second and share their hilarious snaps online. Although it’s important to note that taste is subjective — what is trashy to one person may be stylish to another! Moreover, we’re well aware that there is no such thing as a flawless wedding. You may have spent hours meticulously planning your big day, hoping everything to be perfect with a capital P. But the truth is, some things are simply out of your control. Whether it’s the caterer that canceled at the last minute or the ignorant plus ones who drink the open bar dry, some minor mishaps are simply unavoidable.
From A Bridal Facebook Group: Praying With All The Single Women Find A Man
"At our nephews wedding today. The bride offered a special gesture... Instead of throwing a bouquet toall the single girls, she took apart her bouquet and handed each girl a flower and prayed with each girl, to wait on the man that God has for them"
I like the idea of handing out parts of the bouquet to everyone but nah you keep your prayers and Jesus to yourself there lady.

Allison Jackson, the owner of the Pineapple Productions, mentioned that it’s important to remember that your celebration speaks directly to your heart. "A wedding should be personal and reflective of the couple — their stories, shared interests, family backgrounds, personal styles and travels — versus something built on recycled ideas from other weddings," she explained. "I encourage couples to draw inspiration from the stories of how they met, what they did on their first date, and how they became engaged. It’s easy to find a few details from those stories that naturally translate into fun and unique elements on the wedding day."

Agree with shaming a lot of this, but if a woman doesn't want to wear a bra, no matter what size she is, she shouldn't have to.
Another thing to keep in mind is the people you want to share these unique moments with. "Focus on the touch points that allow guests to be present throughout the weekend," Beth Helmstetter, a creative director at Beth Helmstetter Events advised. "For instance, if your ceremony has the possibility of being too hot or cold, make sure to address those issues with blankets, fans, and water. For the reception, always make sure you have enough servers and bartenders. If guests aren’t able to get a drink or wait too long for their meal, it doesn’t matter how beautiful or fun your wedding is. Guests will be focused on their needs not being met and they won’t be able to enjoy the celebration as you’ve intended them to."

Being This Drunk At Your Own Wedding
Most importantly, make sure you enjoy the experience and try to have fun! After all, people sometimes see their big day as the final destination when, in reality, it’s only the beginning of a long and exciting journey together. But if some things don’t go as planned, remember there’s always humor to be found in even the most unfortunate situations. So if you have a weird and amusing story to tell, don’t be shy and share your adventures with us in the comments.

I Can’t Imagine Seeing This At A Wedding
I just don't understand this weird obsession with mothers of the groom, trying and failing, to out do the bride on her wedding day.
like you, i can't comprehend why it would even be attempted.
Load More Replies...So many grooms in daily or work attire.... it almost looks like they want to say, "not my idea this, but had to show up".
The grooms who don’t dress accordingly, where the bride does, clearly show no interest nor have any respect to make an effort. That’s kind of trashy.
Load More Replies...A bunch of these pictures are "Hey, look at these people going casual at their wedding", and while I admit that, for me, a wedding is a formal thing, maybe it isn't that way for everybody. Their wedding doesn't have to please me. It only has to please THEM. I think it would be awful for someone to say "This style isn't really 'me', but it's what everybody else expects, so that's what I'll do." Nah, mate. You do you.
I agree if they both are, but I think if only the groom is, it seems less like something they both agreed on and more like a lack of effort/investment.
Load More Replies...Is it odd that "white trash" is still a perfectly acceptable racial slur?
Not so sure about the racial part, but I find it really awful since no person anywhere should be called "trash" or "garbage" just for their living- and financial situation! Or even their taste. "Trash"-people are those who hurt animals, murder people for fun, rape people or take huge bribes to ruin a country.
Load More Replies...I think I prefer most of these weddings to the overblown, perfect, humorless, bridezilla fantasy ego-fests costing mountains of money.
The amount of judgemental nonsense here about how people choose to celebrate their relationships is bizarre.
I guess this is a personal thing, getting married and all.... I'm not sure why we should judge or shame others for their chosen way of celebrating (except the maga c**p, this should always be discouraged imo)
Agreed. About the maga: I would discourage that especially because it takes the happy day away from the couple and makes it about some other person who is not even there and couldn't care less about their existence. Same as a wedding themed to Putin, or even to Jesus Christ or some other god-thought entity. Weddings (at least those in western culture) are supposed to be about the bride and groom and a bit about the family. Not about the money or the fame or some other person who gets a cake in their likeness. You'll be placed as second (or even last) fiddle your whole life, statistically. Don't put yourself in that position on what is supposed to be the happiest day of your life!

I don’t understand how #10 is trashy? If the single women were not looking for a relationship, I imagine they wouldn’t be included in her gesture.
First, it's not VOWELS...it's VOWS...buy a dictionary, look it up. Second, the really disgusting ones are the TRUMPERS...cake, guy in shorts has TRUMP socks, woman with MAGA dress.
