The World Health Organization has announced time and again that COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be safe, effective and life-saving.

What’s even better is that the new analysis by PHE found for the first time that 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be “highly effective against hospitalization from the Delta (B.1.617.2) variant.” So as the contagious new variant is sweeping across the country, getting a COVID-19 shot is now basically a matter of not getting severe complications, and for some, it’s a matter of life and death.

But when it seems like all the evidence of the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination is more than obvious, some people still find the excuse of not getting it. And honestly, some of their reasoning is beyond insane.

From believing that a COVID-19 shot will turn you into a living zombie to claiming that Jesus himself is enough of “a protector and a mask” to protect from the virus, it’s one hell of a read. Treat it as a sci-fi read at most or utter craziness, and scroll through some of the worst excuses people shared online down below.

lol62056 Report

Ever since the pandemic emerged, vaccine skeptics have pointed to the fact that the coronavirus vaccines were available only under emergency-use authorizations. So when the Food and Drug Administration this week fully authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, COVID-denialists and anti-vaxxers have taken desperate measures to prove their points.

Some employ arguments found on fake news websites, others go deep into conspiracy theories that revolve around mistrust in government and science. So in order to find out what’s at the root of the mind of vaccine sceptics and COVID denialists, we reached out to Robert Gifford, a Professor of Psychology and Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria.

Robert is best known for his “The Dragons of Inaction: Diagnosing and Slaying the Barriers to Positive Climate and Environmental Action” study. According to this theory, these dragons are a compendium of psychological barriers that hinder a person’s desired actions. Robert argues that “they have mainly been gathered to help explain why a person agrees that climate change and environmental sustainability are important problems, yet does not take enough action to effectively deal with those problems.”

I really don't get how people can think of science and be like "Well why do the scientists get to decide what's truth and what's not?". You really have not been paying any attention in school. Like, at all, for consecutive years.

“However, the dragons may apply to other things, such as COVID denial,” he explained and continued: “In particular, without data, my opinion is that COVID denial is strongly related to Mistrust, one of the Discredence genus of dragons. Deniers do not like scientists and governments (unless they are populist governments that also are skeptical about both COVID and climate change).”

Right. Don't vaccinate your kids. Well....except for the ones you want to keep.

Not vaccinating one's kids seems like a very slow and expensive way to have an abortion.

As with most conspiricies there is half a truth, a misunderstanding and some spekulation leading to a an incorrect conclusion in what she says. She is kind of right though... But she is missing one important point, namely that that disease has been renderet harmless before it injected. The old fasioned way to make a vaccine was to grow what caused it (bacteria or virus) until you had the needed amount and then kill it (e.g. by boiling), whereby it is broken into the bits it is made up of. Those bits cannot function on their own, but they still look enough like the virus/bakteria for the body to learn to reconise that kind of stuff and prepare for a later fight against it. Moderne vaccines are a bit more sophisticated since we know know about DNA, so we can choose to just replicate the small bit of a disease's code that is nessesary for the body to reconise it, and only inject that part of the genom into our bodies.

Measles and chicken pox are still out there more than people realize. How do we know that? People who aren't vaccinated against it come down with it. And in case you're wondering, Measles can kill. Kids and adults.

Yes, that's exactly how all vaccines work. You get a micro-dose of the disease, which motivates you immune system to attack the disease when the real thing comes along. Not scientifically worded, but why waste time.

I gotta laugh at all these comments and they sound like they are coming from a younger crowd, which explains a lot. My mother didn't believe in vaccination and she had 5 kids. I've never had polio, pneumonia, flu, etc. Growing up on a farm gives you a pretty strong immunity system compared to city kids that are pampered. I didn't vaccinate my kids either. Didn't see the point as they were all robustly healthy. Grandkids won't be vaccinated for the same reason. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. What you government loving people on here seem to forget is that your own healthcare is no one's business except yours. You do you and I'll do me. The government is here for one reason and one reason only: to protect our rights. Sounds like not so much as one of you has ever read the constitution or has any idea what your rights even are and it shows.

Sad thing is, some kids decide they want to get vaccinated & their parents end up going crazy over it. I once saw a news article somewhere (I forget where) about a boy who chose to go against his mothers wishes & got vaccinated behind her back; her reaction was to kick him out of her house. I think social services/CPS were involved in the story, but it was so sad. Kid just wanted to be protected against diseases & his mother punished him for it... 🥺💔🤷‍♀️

If parents choose to not vaccinate their children and their child dies they should be brought up on murder charges the same as the "pro-lifers" would like to have women brought up on murder charges for having an abortion.

The professor continued: “Of course the Mistrust dragon is rooted in the Limited Cognition genus dragons called Ignorance and Confirmation Bias (that is, lack of factual knowledge and the tendency to pay attention to media that echoes one’s existing beliefs).”

When asked what to do when encountering a COVID denier, Robert suggested keeping an extra-large distance. “That’s about all that one can do. The other approaches are futile,” he said.

it's interesting how keeping a pregnancy of one single mother, is everyone's business.... But taking a vaccine against a virus that can affect anyone, and kill them even tho the "immune system is strong" , is a private choice, that should be respected.

Literally nothing in life is risk-free, but which risk would you rather take: the slim risk of side effects from a highly tested & researched vaccine being used by a large portion of the world, or the risk of losing your child to an easily preventable disease?

There is some truth to this “SOME” being the operative word. Kids raised in super clean environments are more likely to suffer from things like allergies, this is due to the immune system not having to work, so it ends up attacking more things we commonly come into contact with, like asthma which can result in death. Google the term “Bored Immune System” to start your education
