We all have some weird food combinations that we absolutely love to feast on while our friends watch us do it with utter confusion on their faces. Melon and Parma ham is one such concoction that I adore, but others find it strange for some reason. The truth is, I know people who drink milk with meat, so I’m really not the weird one here. However, none of these even compare to the bizarre cravings that some women get while pregnant.

Mia Challiner, a TikToker with a whopping 1.6 million followers, thinks so, too. In fact, she was so intrigued by these weird food combos that she decided to try them out! The result—a series of glorious videos where she tastes and rates pregnancy craving foods. Peanut butter & mayo toast and chicken nuggets dipped in ice cream are just the tip of the gastronomic iceberg.

The best part? Mia shows us that some of these weird combos that we’d be too afraid to try out can actually taste incredibly good. I for one am going to try them out. But I’ll start off with something easy and approachable like cheese and honey instead of the more… eldritch things.

Mia was kind enough to answer some of my questions about her videos, the inspiration behind them, as well as what her best and worst cravings combos are. Scroll down for Bored Panda's interview with her.

"As a content creator, I’m always searching for fun, original ideas/trends to bring to TikTok in order to entertain my audience. As I was scrolling through YouTube, I stumbled upon a video entitled 'testing women’s pregnancy cravings,'" Mia shared with Bored Panda how she decided to start making the videos about cravings herself.

"I thought it was a really cool concept that I had never seen on TikTok before so I decided to film myself trying some of these interesting food combinations. Originally, my plan was only to make one or two videos testing these weird pregnancy cravings but the response I got after the very first video was uploaded was phenomenal. Since then I have made over 20 videos entitled 'Trying Women’s WEIRD pregnancy cravings,'" she said that this video series has been a roaring success.

Hey face says it better than any comment I could make about this monstrosity.

Mia opened up to Bored Panda about the best and worst food combinations she's tried so far. "In my opinion, some of the best pregnancy cravings have been chips and honey, apple and cheese, and ice cream on toast. The worst pregnancy cravings I’ve tried are either plain flour, cornstarch or apple and toothpaste... ew!" And now we know what to try and what to stay away from!

Student Mia points out with a hashtag in her videos that she herself isn’t pregnant. The woman, who is British, currently lives in France. Her rise to fame on TikTok was mainly due to her testing and tasting the weirdest foods. Some of these are so peculiar, I’d be hard-pressed to find the courage to try them out. However, Mia seems to have more than enough courage.

They serve cheese with honey or tomato jam in restaurants too. It is common and tasty.

I feel like we're leaning heavily on ice cream here. I'm not saying it didn't taste good...I'm just not a fan of the oil and milk combo.

The content that Mia features is a mix of her own research, as well as the suggestions that she takes from her adoring fans. That, dear Pandas, can lead to some truly unforgivable food mixes being tried out. Like blue cheese and brownies, strawberry and mayo, and sardine with cereal. I really hope that this won’t put you off your breakfast, lunch, and dinner, dear Readers. Though it seems like I’ll be embracing intermittent fasting until I get my appetite back.

Pregnancy cravings aren’t all that Twilight Zone-esque once you look at them closer. Intermountain Healthcare points out that a number of things can cause these cravings, including hormones, nutritional deficiencies, and a heightened sense of smell and taste. Usually, cravings begin in the first trimester and are at their peak in the second trimester. Though, of course, every mom and her body are different, so how and when these cravings appear can be unique, too.

Something that pregnant women are stereotypically portrayed to be munching on in films and TV shows is a food that I personally love munching and crunching on—pickles. If you’ve got a craving for pickles, odds are that you have low sodium levels. The plus side is that pickles are also very low in calories, so you shouldn’t feel guilty about snacking on them either way.

Another favorite is chocolate. To oversimplify things a bit, chocolate helps our brains produce serotonin and, by extension, endorphins which make us feel happy. It’s a great way to get you feeling less blue when you’re down in the dumps (tried and tested, believe me), but the downside is that it’s not the healthiest of foods to binge on.

Though going for organic, eco-friendly chocolates that have more cocoa in them could be a good way to satisfy your cravings and avoid some of the sugar. To be fair, when you become aware of such weird food combinations like the ones that Mia tries out on a regular basis, chocolate and pickles seem far from weird. In the mood for some more deliciously peculiar foods? Check out Bored Panda's previous post about the most bizarre dishes that pregnant women love right over here, all photographed in fine-dining style. It's a colorful way to perk you up.

For a very hungry person. Both are caloric and with a neutral taste.

Avocado's taste is buttety and somewhat neutral. So it fits in a lot of combos.

Chesse with apple or more commonly pear or raisin is a common desert where I live. Also, with some toasts, on breakfast.

Why would you eat raw flour? Also...if I'm not mistake that will cause serious constipation.

Heh, when I was younger after all the pickles were gone I would pour myself a glass. It’s so good, still do it occasionally.

With bread (in a sandwith), jamón and nocilla/nutella is a thing a lot of children in my country "invent" and like. But not adults... as far as I know.
