Man Stands Woman Up On Their First Date, Then Sends A Voice Message So Bizarre She Had To Expose It

“I’ve dodged the biggest bullet,” said a young Australian woman after hearing a bizarre voice note from a man she met on a dating app.

At the end of a four-hour flight journey, Harmony turned off airplane mode to find a particularly interesting notification from the man she matched with on Hinge.

“You guys just wait to hear what he had to say,” Harmony said in the caption of one of her viral TikTok videos.

In a series of TikTok videos, Harmony has been chronicling the story of how her Hinge date stood her up.

While there’s nothing novel about being stood up, what came as a hot surprise was the man’s response after leaving her alone at a coffee shop, waiting for him.

Rather than simply apologizing for missing their date, the man provided a bizarre explanation for why he failed to show up.

On the day of their planned date, Harmony had messaged the man at around 7:38 a.m. to confirm whether they were still meeting at the coffee shop as planned. 

“Still keen on Gather and Grounds at 8:30?” read her text.

Despite the lack of response, Harmony still showed up at the coffee shop on time.

When it was crystal clear that the man stood her up, Harmony decided to get herself a hot cuppa and sip on it by the beach. 

She later dropped a sarcastic text for the man at around 10:58 a.m.

“Coffee was great this morning if you were wondering!” she texted her no-show date.

Later, after getting on a four-hour flight, Harmony revealed in her TikTok videos that she landed to find a particularly interesting notification pop up on her phone.

It was a voice note from the date who never showed up.

“F***, I’m so sorry,” he began.

“Just landed after a four-hour flight to a 37-second voice note from the guy,” Harmony wrote

The man claimed he overslept and had to rush for a Jiu-Jitsu appointment on that “silly morning.”

“I slept all the way in,” he said. “Didn’t even check my phone because I had a 10 o’clock appointment with Jiu-Jitsu … I said I was going to be there to help a competitor train, so I was there doing that from 10:00 till 11:30.”

“But I slept in till about 9:30 to do it, so very rushed and silly morning for myself,” he added.

His explanation took a strange turn when he said he was actually “jealous” of Harmony for going to the coffee shop, completely ignoring the fact that he was the one who left her there alone.

“I’m jealous because I wanted to go to Gather & Grounds before you flew out … I’m jealous that you went there without me,” she said.

Harmony’s videos captured her laughing with her friend at the bizarre voice note.

“I hate him,” the friend said before mocking his logic.

“I’m jealous that you went to our date and I didn’t turn up!” the friend said. 

“I’ve dodged the biggest bullet,” Harmony quipped, while her friend added, “That is the funniest thing.”

Harmony was seen laughing away with the friend, mocking the man’s strange logic

They also joked about the man seemingly recording the voice note mid-way through his meal.

Netizens were equally baffled by the man’s response, saying, “I have the ick” from hearing the voice note.

“The way he’s acting like he didn’t stand you up,” read one comment.

Another wrote, “Boys are really out here thinking they’re the prize, and it’s embarrassing.” 

“Men are not lonely enough,” read another comment.

Several viewers poked fun at the man for doling out his explanation while having lunch.

“His campsite bowl and spoon is GRINDING my gears!” one said.

“‘I’m having lunch by the way’ through a mouthful of food is diabolical,” wrote another, to which Harmony replied, “Bro couldn’t wait to finish his lunch before sending the voice message hahaha.”

“Can you send a voice note with you just chewing your food. Then say sorry I had an appointment with this burger,” read another comment. 

Harmony and her friend did exactly that. 

In one TikTok video, they recreated the voice note with the man’s audio playing in the background. 

They theatrically pretended to eat from an empty bowl and mocked him for giving his bizarre explanation while eating.

“I’m definitely gonna start using that ‘slept alll the way in,’” read one comment
