That’s why we decided to use humor to brighten your day with the help of some absurd and hilarious memes from ‘thehomie’ Instagram page. There’s a clear reason why this account has 3.6 million followers, and all of the photos in this list are designed to make you laugh out loud or at least snort some hot air from your nose.

Memes aren’t just little jokes to laugh at on your way to work or while scrolling in bed; they’re serious marketing tools that can propel a company’s growth through humor and social commentary. According to Pulse Advertising, a tech-enabled social intelligence company, the global meme industry grew from $2.3 billion in 2020 to $6.1 billion by 2025.
Tongue-in-cheek marketing campaigns can help businesses get 60% more organic engagement. Companies like Duolingo also use this strategy with their green owl mascot to get people to download their app and keep up with their lessons. Even customers seem more likely to buy from brands that post casual memes, which shows the power these simple jokes and photos can hold.
Memes aren’t a modern invention; they date back to 3 B.C., when archaeologists uncovered a mosaic from the ancient city of Antioch that showed a three-frame bathing scene. The first section shows a servant preparing a bath; the second frame shows a young man running away from the bath and being chased by an older servant who can't catch him; and the last section shows a seemingly happy skeleton of the young man sitting casually with a jug of wine. This seems to be one of the first memes in existence that teach people to live their lives happily.
According to Independent Lens, these funny pictures and drawings represent people's feelings, thoughts, and ideas. They don’t need words to convey complex concepts, since an image or moving picture can say it all.
The term "meme" was introduced in 1976 by the evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, who described it as a cultural unit of information. He derived the word from the Greek words “mimeme” and “gene,” and said these concepts spread through imitation just like biological genes.
These hilarious pieces of information tend to act almost like a virus, getting replicated and transmitted from one person to another; from there, they can also evolve and mutate at random. Richard Dawkins’s initial explanation helped coin the term "meme," and over time we have seen many incredible ones, like the dancing baby in 1996.
Before you know it, you might end up scrolling through a ton of memes, and it’s so easy because they’re simple for our brains to process. Since they usually don’t have much text and include many icons or photos, we can quickly grasp the concept and share it with friends and loved ones.
According to Sentius, which provides wisdom, insight, and knowledge about things, this effortless comprehension feels good, and since we can use memes to connect with other people, it can feel like we’re all in on a joke together. This sense of belonging is what prompts people to share more funny photos and keep the cycle going.
Ooh yes! Extra points if you buy a cheese that nobody else in the family likes
When a meme is born, people worldwide learn about it, and everyone wants to join the conversation. This online community begins the moment someone clicks ‘share’ and continues until the trend changes. Some classic gems like the famous Rick Roll never seem to fade into oblivion.
Although you might enjoy memes on your own, most of the time people share these funny photos with their loved ones. This keeps the conversation going and also sometimes acts as a form of bonding. That’s why brands and companies try to capitalize on this idea to build better online engagement.
Memes are more than a simple conversation starter or something to chuckle at; they can also offer escapism. As most of us seem to be bogged down by a 9-5, or in some cases, even more demanding schedules, seeing funny GIFs or wacky photos can help take our mind off things.
These posts also tend to make light of serious topics, which can help people lighten their load, at least for a short time. Since laughter has long been seen as the best medicine, humor can act as a magical dose that can even change the way a person’s day is going.
So far, we’ve talked about how memes can be funny, lighthearted, and make people feel better, but these simple posts can do much more. According to researchers, these pictures have had a huge impact on social movements by encouraging people to voice their opinions and take action for a cause.
In the #MeToo movement and the Black Lives Matter protests, people made many memes to spread knowledge, raise awareness, and get people talking. Although this might seem like a simplistic way to build a base that can bring about change, its impact is clear and has reached many generations.
Climate change memes using the ‘This is fine’ dog have helped emphasize the urgent need for environmental action. These funny photos are also effective, simple ways for people to express their displeasure with the government or laws and even demand change.
Memes had their greatest impact during the U.S. presidential elections in 2016 and 2020, when political parties tried to sway voters. Folks turned to these sources to stay updated with news, but that also encouraged many extremist groups to spread misinformation through silly photos. The power of memes should definitely not be underestimated, as they can reach terrifying levels if in the wrong hands.
Lord Farquaad being based on Disney boss Michael Eisner will never not be absolutely hilarious. Don't get creatives pi.ssed off at you; this is how we do revenge.
Now that you know how powerful memes truly are, take the time to immerse yourself in the ones featured in this post. How else will you have a truly spectacular day? With laughter and joy, of course, that these silly photos can bring.
We’d love to know what your favorite meme is, and why that one stands out the most for you. Do share your thoughts in the comments below.
Looks much more comfortable than my equivalent of one niece on each knee and nephew in the middle
MapQuest is better than either; they ignored the orange buffoon and stuck with Lake Ontario.
And here's me unable to see to even thread a needle! This is incredible ❤️
This movie had the exact message I wish I'd known earlier in life. I threw everything I had into succeeding at what I did. And then I got what I wanted and was ultimately left with no idea what to do next because I'd never had any other goals and no further plans for the future. Then I went through the painful realisation that most of my "friends" were just industry people making nice, and when I lost my success I lost my social life as well. And after that I essentially had nothing at all. No wonder the therapist I subsequently went to asked repeatedly if I was having thoughts about checking out early considering what a hole I'd fallen into emotionally. It's been a decade and I'm still recovering.
In what way are gas stations not a drive through? Are they not the original drive through?
I like my hot dogs with the lot i.e. they need some fried onion, sauerkraut in there, and melted cheese on top
Greetings from the arrow-shaped part, which I have, indeed, called home for my entire life (though I have visited many areas north of the yellow).
Without collapsing the cone is impressive. Bizarre, but an achievement, demonstrating mastery of a profoundly useless skill.
I saw a video of two adult men posing as one really fat guy (with one dude making up the gut) to get into a movie with only one ticket, and it WORKED.
