People have always been taught to consider things in context and to consider different perspectives of a given issue, but screw that, sometimes taking things out of context just for kicks is good old-fashioned fun.

And what better way to do this than to use Wikipedia tables of contents? I wish I was making this up, but it was a thing for a very short period of time in internet history when Twitter user @ZeeZeeMooMoo posted a screencap of the table of contents of the Wikipedia article for the 1859 Pig War.

If you know what it’s all about, this all looks rather normal, but picture knowing nothing about it, knowing absolutely no context. It does make you wonder how the heck is this a thing, how did whatever this article is talking about come to this, what happened, now I need to know?!

The short-lived, but still noteworthy little thread is all neatly posted in a curated list below for your enjoyment, so check it out, vote and comment appropriately, and tell us what you thought of it in the comment section!

I had to do this! This is pertaining to the pig war of Vancouver Island. It's actually kinda hilarious. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_War_(1859)

The famous pig war that nearly started between Canada and the US. Simplified History did a whole video on it

This was probably the story of the Pig Wars in the 1800s in disputed land between the US and the UK

Is this by any chance the Pig War that the great Oversimplified made a video about?

The boring explanation would be that this was a border dispute between America and Canada. The better explanation would be that this dispute got escalated when an American farmer on disputed territory shot a British pig for eating his potatoes.

I thought Early, Pizza and Death were the ultimate stages of life, but this escalated things to a whole new level.
