Youth is like a mask. As we age that mask fades and we are forced to reveal our raw selves to the world. I like shooting older people because years of smiles or frowns are carved right into their faces.
I wonder what choices or events led to the particular destiny these people are living. Some people appear to be living in hell. Others maintain a child-like state of joy, while others appear just aimless as they’ve always been.
Taipei is a place where many paths of life converge. I’ve traveled all over this city shooting the people that stand out to me. I try to imagine myself as each one of these people.
