Seems Like A Great Company
Had an emergency with one of my kids (age 20+) My manager jumped in. Another asked me why I was searching replacement for a fixed shift two days later, she could and would do that. My co-workers kicked me out. She is important, not we. Might take a while but ..... We'll figure out where you where in the project. Years later those are still the ones i'll never tell no and will go an extra mile for.
What a compassionate and thoughtful gift you were given! So sorry for the loss of your dear mom.
‘Balika Manch’ Is A School Club In The South Tripura District In India
It was created by the District Magistrate of South Tripura, Saju Vaheed in 2020.
His goal is to teach young girls leadership skills and to prevent them from dropping out of school because of a child marriage.
If a family pressures a girl into marriage, the club intervenes and tries to dissuade them. If the family doesn't want to comply with the laws, a second layer of officials, including counselors and legal practitioners, intervenes.
If the family still persists, the police step in.
Today there are 158 school clubs across the district where girls from upper primary and secondary classes can meet, discuss, and find solutions to the issues they face as adolescents.
Balika Manch prevented 90 child marriages in 2022 and the state government is considering expanding this inspiring school club for the rest of the Tripura region.
I saw a documentary done by an English reporter about the red light district of Calcutta. She lived with the women for several months. She said the most surprising thing was the children. They were intelligent, curious, everything children are everywhere. A lot of them were specifically interested in the photography part of reporting. The woman ended up buying about twelve of the kids their own cameras and taught them to both shoot and develop. Being the children of prostitutes, they weren't eligible for anything but the most basic education. One ten year old girl said on camera that she wondered what she could have been if she'd been allowed an education, just as casually as anything. The reporter fought (I've forgotten how) to get the children permission to go to secondary school. Eventually, the government agreed that they could go if a school would take them. Out of that first group of children, one got married, and one slipped away into her mother's lifestyle. Several were fostered to England and America. That little girl grew up to be a cellist.
Didn't see that one but I've seen children in poverty in other countries. Often the country itself is poor which seems to go hand in hand with less gov. benefits. In the 80s I was in Olongapo in the Philippines when the nearby big naval base was still run by the USA. There were a lot of clubs and "companions" catering to the sailors. I saw some street urchins there. I don't know if they were the kids of working ladies but some of them probably were. And I saw some sad things related to begging to get by, lack of medical care and so on. I never thought to ask about school. Kind of related - I also visited a home for deaf kids. It seemed they were treated like second class citizens. I took a sign language book (USA ASL) to compare signs. Found out they had never seen a sign language book. I ended up leaving it with them since I could buy another one. There is sadness and poverty in some parts of the USA of course but I think many Americans do not appreciate how hard some have it.

Many thanks, it means a lot to parents of a premie to know somebody cares. My son had an octopus. He loved it.
My SIL is a nurse at the neonatal unit at Edinburgh Royal - I'm sure she must know of him!

As a L&D RN I would crochet hats on slow nights for newborns, but apparently that wasn’t allowed so I was told I couldn’t do them t anymore. FYI I worked 7p-7a and anyone who works L&D knows it’s feast or famine.
Back In 2016, Wanda Dench Mistakenly Sent A Message To Then 17-Year-Old Jamal Hinton
She informed him that the Thanksgiving dinner that year was at her house on November 24 at 3 p.m.
The text shocked Jamal and he wanted proof. The teen asked for a photo, and Wanda sent a selfie of herself. Jamal realized it was a mistake but asked, "Can I still get a plate tho?"
“Of course you can. That’s what grandmas do…feed everyone,” Wanda texted him after she realized her mistake too.
Since then, they have spent every Thanksgiving Day together and are now also business partners. There is even a Netflix film in development about their unlikely friendship.
“He’s in my heart for life,” Wanda commented. “He’s changed my life a lot, I know that.”
This is my favorite thanksgiving story. They still celebrate together.
If I remember correctly, Jamal welcomed his first child last year and Wanda accepted the title of Great Grandmother.
Two strangers being decent to one another and leading to a wonderful friendship; we should all aspire to that level of humanity and respect
Heman Bekele Lived In Ethiopia Until The Age Of Four. There He Witnessed People Constantly Working Under The Hot Sun
So, when he grew up and became a middle-school student, he decided to do something to help.
He developed a soap that could help in the treatment of skin cancer. It is made of compounds that reactivate dendritic cells, which guard the human skin and fight cancer cells.
Heman, now 14, participated in the 3M Young Scientist Challenge, where he won the top award and was named "America’s Top Young Scientist."
After winning the prestigious award, Heman told the judging panel that he hoped his soap would become a “symbol of hope, accessibility, and a world where skin cancer treatment is within reach for all.”
As a resident of the country with the highest rate of skin cancer in the world, I hope this talented and intelligent young man goes far.
words cant describe how amazing this is!!!! I wish him so much success!
It's a fantastic invention, but am I the only one to secretly hope Heman fulfils his destiny and defetes Skeletor...?
Is this soap on the market yet? If not, why not? Heman, you did a wonderful thing, thank you.
How wonderful!!! ...if there's a soap to help skin cancer then?¿?¿?¿¡!¡!¡!?????¿¿¿¿¿
Marcel Lebrun, A Canadian Millionaire, Developed What He Calls “12 Neighbours”, To Help The Homeless People In His Community
This innovative gated community encompasses 99 compact tiny homes that offer residents their own private living spaces. Each home is equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom along with a modest front porch. Solar panels on the rooftops provide renewable energy to power the homes.
“I see myself as a community builder, and really what we’re doing here is not just building a little community, but we’re building a community in a city, like how do we help our city be better?” he commented.
Since its beginning, the project has received $12 million in additional government grants to expand further. Marcel’s plan is to build a community center, a teaching kitchen, and a silk printing business for people to find employment.
It's a shame this is only #60, so it's likely that many of the people who say all rich people are evil won't see it.
Its a shame most cites will not allow tiny homes due to all the minimum requirements. If it's better than what they have now, let them live in tiny homes, then when they get on their feet it can be passed to someone else. Too much NIMBYism (not in my backyard).
I own my condo but honestly, if they built a tiny city, I'd move.

There was this guy sitting there crying and she asks me 'did you see that man crying? What's wrong with him?'
I said yes but I'm not sure maybe he's just sad...She said, 'maybe he's hot and thirsty' she walked over to him and goes 'hi sir be happy it's a nice day it's not raining. Are you hot? Why don't you go home the ground is dirty?' He says I have no home but I will be ok.
She looked at him with the saddest face and goes 'so that means you're homeless. So you have no food because you have no refrigerator.' She gave him a few dollars out of her purse and her drink and said, 'Please go eat. It would make me happy. I like McDonald's you should go there.'
I could tell she made his day. On top of that 2 more people came up and gave money as well. We had a small conversation and he explained his trailer burnt down and he lost everything including his wife. I felt for him. It just warms my heart.
A 6 year old lead by example this morning. AWESOME! Kids see no color and that's exactly how it should be. It's not just a statement saying that the children are our future, it's a FACT.

Back In 2013, James Anderson From Burnley, England, Made A Promise To His Baby Son, Who Had Passed Away
He vowed to become "the man that he would have grown up to be."
So, in 2017, when he witnessed a repairman "manipulating" an elderly man, Anderson decided to fulfill his promise. In time, this led him to establish his own plumbing company, which he named DEPHER (Disability and Elderly Plumbing and Heating Emergency Repair).
Anderson's company offers free or heavily subsidized emergency plumbing and heating services to vulnerable, elderly, and disabled people.
Since founding his company in 2017, Anderson has assisted more than 17,000 people across the country.
He has also provided personal protective equipment to nursing homes and the NHS, established a food bank, and organized surprise birthday parties for children whose parents had been furloughed or laid off during the pandemic.
In 2023, he received the British Citizen Award for his contributions to the community.
"I've got the best job in the world," Anderson commented. "I can give."
I've owned several for-profit businesses, but I always cut some of my customers some slack. If they were on a fixed budget due to disability or age, they got a terrific discount or free service. Just made sense to me.
Unfortunately there are a number of controversies surrounding DEPHER - I'm not going to list them here but Google can direct you.
"This Abandoned Pit Bull Is Sheltering … In The Southwest Part Of The Park… I Take Him Food And Water But He Will Not Let Me Close To Him"
"He only has 3 legs and is visibly the victim of severe abuse and neglect… I’ve rescued 4 abandoned dogs from the park but this guy is too aggressive for a non professional to take, ” Roger Massey, of South Hills, TX, wrote on Facebook.
Saving Hope Animal Rescue responded, but the dog named Pappas trusted no human. After three weeks, he got exhausted, making it easier for the volunteers to get hold of him.
As soon as the pup realized he was safe, he surprisingly transformed into a sweet dog seeking only love.
Pappas is now in a foster home. Hopefully, he will find a forever home to get the warmth and love he needs.

I feel bad for the dog but I would not be able to approach a dog like this if it was injured. I would call a rescue charity.
Rose Hunter From Lincoln, Ne, Is A Self-Proclaimed “Houseplant Addict”
She regularly visits Campbell’s Nursery that is close to her home.
However, this summer, after a sudden change of plans, she decided to visit Campbell's second location in her city. Upon arrival, she noticed something unusual in the parking lot. Initially, she mistook it for an oil spot. But as she approached to inspect it, she realized it was, in fact, a baby kitten.
Unable to locate the kitten's mother, Rose took it home and contacted a vet. After posting about the situation on Facebook, she found a foster cat mom who took the kitten in as her own. When the kitten reached six weeks of age, Rose brought it back home and adopted it.
“He’s now like a little cartoon character,” Rose commented. "Just so playful and funny and such silly and expressive facial expressions.”
Not necessarily. I think a lot of people forget that animals don't remain as helpless as humans babies for as long. In the "wild" at 6 weeks, a kitten is typically no longer nursing, they are fairly coordinated, etc, and they are already learning to stalk & catch their own food. I know that kittens are precious and we think of them as helpless because they cute us into doing all the work for them, but they're really not. Lots of feral kittens grow up to be adult cats with no intervention from humans or their mothers. Even at 6 weeks, they are capable. Source, I'm a mixed practice veterinarian
Load More Replies...Has America got stray kittens everywhere? Cause I haven't seen any in Australia which is good, but I still would love to stumble across one and keep it.
Every night before I go to bed I look out onto the street in case there's a kitten that needs rescue..... There never is!! :D
Load More Replies...I'm really not trying to be cynical but I always think did you take a photo of this random oil spot in the parking lot and then walk up to it and see it's a kitten? Or did you notice the kitten, walk a few metres away and take the photo? It's a bit like people finding animals on the road that are injured but they're filming up to the point when they discovered it, like you just happen to be filming the road while you're driving along? I mean I'm really grateful to the kind people who save animals but the process confuses me sometimes.
I can’t figure out if her name is Rose Hunter or if that was a description of her… 🤷🏻♀️
Singer Billy Joel Was Disappointed That The Best Seats At His Concerts Were Always Full Of Unimpressed Rich People
"The guy's there with the girlfriend...'Okay, Piano Man, entertain me,' and they don't do anything. It was a drag and you'd hear all the kids yelling in the back and you know they didn't get a shot at those tickets," Joel explains.
That is why he decided to create a new policy for those front seats. He now holds the tickets and sends his road crew to the back of the room to bring people from the worst seats to the front rows.
"This way you've got people in the front row that are really happy to be there, real fans," he added.
If all performers banded together and refused to let their concert tickets go for hundreds through a ticket broker, maybe we could all go back to concerts. I shouldn't have to pay $800 for nosebleed seats.
Billy Joel is such a nice person. Also, time start a war: Billy Joel's music is better than Taylor Swift's
No need to start a war. Different tastes make the world more interesting
Load More Replies...Not Billy, but for other concerts, I would muscle my way down to the front because I loved whichever band was performing. I've managed to get front row seats but in concerts without seating, I've had roadies pull me up on stage to the side to watch the performance. I consider myself very fortunate.
I read this before here on BP. Still very nice of Billy Joel to do this.
Healthcare Workers At Martin Luther King Hospital In Compton, Ca, Recently Admitted A Patient In Critical Condition
Security watched how the patient’s dog followed the ambulance all the way from their home to the hospital’s door, as the patient lived within view. The dog, later named Hilary, tried to go into the emergency room with her owner, but they couldn’t let the dog in.
The loyal dog remained in front of the hospital, waiting for 10 days for her owner to come out.
Sadly, the owner passed away. The hospital staff wanted to rescue her, but Hilary refused to leave the parking lot.
They were concerned about the dog especially since a hurricane was coming. The employees finally decided to call Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy dog rescue, for assistance.
Suzette managed to lure the dog with the smell of warm treats just as the winds were starting to pick up. She then took Hilary to Camino Pet Hospital to recover.
“She’s still mourning,” Suzette commented. “But we’re going to find her the perfect home. She just needs to heal first.”
Hilary has since been adopted.
Mark Donovan, An Entrepreneur, Earned His Wealth From Wooden Ships (A Women’s Sweater Brand) And A Soaring Tesla Investment
He used some of his money, together with a $2 million contribution from the city of Denver, to support the homeless. That's how the Denver Basic Income Project was born.
The basic-income plan enrolled over 800 people last October, but they had different stipends. The first group got $1,000 every month for a year. The second group got $6,500 at once and then $500 monthly, and the third group got only $50 each month.
"Many participants reported that they have used the money to pay off debt, repair their car, secure housing, and enroll in a course," Mark Donovan commented. "These are all paths that could eventually lead participants out of poverty and allow them to be less dependent on social support programs."
The guaranteed income also contributed to a reduction in homelessness, as many participants found their own homes or apartments. Furthermore, people reported improvements in overall mental health and increased feelings of safety in their current living situations.
Direct cash payments has been proven over and over again to have the greatest impact. Give disadvantaged people cash and stop moralizing about what they'll do with it. They'll do what they need to do.
But without the constant threat of homelessness and starvation, who will work for laughable wages? /s
Load More Replies...Since US billionaires basically don't pay taxes, this would be a wonderful opportunity for them to "invest" in. Not only can they easily afford providing monthly incomes to the homeless, they wouldn't even miss it. No one can spend billions of dollars in one lifetime, but they can make a life for millions.
UBI is needed. Capitalism and the patriarchy and billionaires are the downfall of us all.
And this in turn can also be one of the best ways to decrease negative environmental impact.
The sooner we get universal basic income, the better. With AI about shake up the middle class labour market beyond recognition, it's urgently needed. Tests in various places have been very successful.
and thats socialism for you, you know, the thing amerikkka hates
Yeah... Sure... Not like homelessness had kinda increased... I live near Denver.
We Are So Incredibly Proud To Share This Story Of Our Boys Cross Country Runners!
At the Neenah meet on Friday, the Stevens Point Boys Cross Country team showed talent, determination and amazing sportsmanship! Aloysius Franzen set a course record and took 1st overall!
Right after though, a Marquette runner was heading in for the 2nd spot, but lost his footing and stumbled, unable to get back up, exhausted from the efforts. Cooper Erickson was in 3rd and passed him right before the finish line. Noticing the fallen runner, Cooper stopped short of the line, returned to his fallen opponent along with Ethan Olds. They were able to encourage the Marquette player up and across the finish line, see picture below.
It was such an amazing show of sportsmanship! No one would have faulted them for just running past and finishing the race, it is competition after all. The sportsmanship shows the character that we aspire for all of our athletes and many have it! That character will serve them (and us) well after they are done competing and living in our communities!
Thank you Cooper and Ethan for showing us what sportsmanship looks like and making us all proud to be a Panther!!
If everyone did things like this every time we saw an opportunity, the world would improve overnight :) xx
This is my old school!! I'm a Panther alum and I love seeing this story!! Awesome job boys!
Of course this level of sportsmanship was realized. It was in Wisconsin. I lived there for quite a while and got to observe, not just the talents in a variety of sports, but the kindness and sportsmanship this state has to offer. (I don't know how to make sportsmanship gender-neutral, my apologies).
Mexico City Police Officer Arizbeth Dionisio Ambrosio Was Deployed To Acapulco After Hurricane Otis To Provide Relief
There, she came upon a crying, hungry four-month-old baby. Dionisio, who is a mother of a 1-year-old, nursed the baby boy after his mother could not.
Images of Dionisio's compassionate act went viral. She was promoted for her service and for bringing honor to the department.
This is how it should be. In the U.S.A., I worry she would be slapped with a lawsuit and fired instead. She did what she had to do with consent, and saved his life!
I would have done the same for every hungry baby in the world if I could have when I was breastfeeding mine.
As A Young Boy, John Kahekwa From The Democratic Republic Of Congo, Witnessed How Hunger Drove Poachers To Harm The Local Gorillas Out Of Necessity. He Was Determined To Put An End To It
Later, in 1992, John founded the Pole Pole Foundation. He initiated tree planting and has since planted more than 4 million trees. Those trees now form a zone between the protected park and the communities.
Today, the Foundation runs farming projects that grow low-cost, nutritious foods, while helping former poachers gain new skills. The foundation also cultivates mushrooms and spirulina to combat malnutrition, providing daily meals to approximately 150 children.
Back in 2021, John’s Foundation was one of the finalists for Prince William’s inaugural Earthshot Prize.
''We are a small organization with big dreams, and we now feel like we can make those dreams come true, working with communities to protect and restore nature in Congo and beyond,” John commented.
It's so easy for us in the West to demonize poachers when we don't know the full story. Well done for this man to see the whole picture and come up with a solution that best serves everyone.
When governments fail its people, it's up to communities and individuals to pick up the slack. You see this community spirit of helping others across the globe enriching the lives of those who would remain destitute and desperate.
Tammi Arrington Was Visiting Dallas, Tx, From Mississippi When She Witnessed A Car Burst Into Flames
She immediately ran to help out the driver who happened to be a wheelchair-bound local, Dennis Brown.
She managed to drag Dennis out of the car before it exploded.
"I'd like to appreciate her for her heroic act," Dennis commented. "She went into harm’s way to save me. I'd like to thank her."
Can you imagine telling this story to someone? "Once I saw car burst into flames, and the driver was paralyzed and couldn’t get out, so I rushed over and pulled him out just before the car exploded!" - "Yeah, sure, and then everybody clapped…"
Grandpa Wanted His Family To Know He Is Always With Them - Even After His Passing
So before he passed away, he had his favorite shirt made into a pillow, and attached a powerful note.
‘This is the shirt I used to wear. Whenever you hold it, know that I am there. Love Granddad’
A good friend had one of these made for me after my father passed 11 years ago. It has a pocket on it though and in the pocket I keep his favorite pair of cufflinks, a picture of us together, & the Aurora fountain pen he always used. After all these years, idk if it really still kind of smells like his aftershave or if I'm imagining it does but I still do a big whiff & cuddle when I'm missing my poppo.❤️
My best friend had given me one of his old nightshirts along with other items to donate, but I kept that dumb old plaid nightshirt. At the time, I couldn't tell you why. But after he died, it became a cherished possession.
Whitney Braley Adopted Banner, A Three-Year-Old Husky, When She Was Just A Puppy
Whitney trained her as a service dog to help her with her disability.
One day, Banner was nervous and restless. She urged Whitney to follow her into the forest. Knowing that the dog has an excellent sense of scent, Whitney followed her to see what was wrong.
In the forest, they found a sealed cardboard box with 7 newborn kittens near the end of their life. Banner very carefully took the kittens out of the box one by one with her mouth.
Later in their home in Menlo, GA, Banner took on the role of the kittens’ mom. She cuddled, hugged them, and took a nap with them as if they were her own babies.
“I’m so happy that now because of Banner, these kittens will go on to live their lives with loving families. It warms my heart,” Whitney commented.
Normally, I'm not a violent person but I get MIGHTY violent urges towards people that leave helpless animals in sealed boxes to die.
I’m the same. Cruelty just makes me see red. We can join up, and one of us can hold the a******s down, while the other gets busy with a Louisville Slugger. We can take turns doing both. No regrets.

This is why you need to have your pets spayed/neutered - unless you are a reputable breeder.
California Has Been Battling Wildfires Since The 1980s. They Have Become More Frequent, More Destructive, And Larger
In 2021, the state suffered unprecedented damage after wildfire burned more than 960,000 acres (3,885 sq km) of land.
In an attempt to reduce the hazard of future fires, the city of LA now lets goats graze grass, leaves, bushes and dry weeds all over the state.
Michael Choi, a local resident, is a goat herder. He runs a family business which leases goats to city agencies, schools and private clients to clear brush from difficult to access hillsides. There has been increasing demand.
"I think as people get more aware of the idea, and environmental impact, they become more conscious about which methods they want to use for clearing weeds and protecting the landscape from fires. So, there's definitely a bigger demand, and it's a growing trend," Michael commented.
If you read the story it says they use goats to difficult access hillsides. So it would be areas where humans have a hard time to access. So goats would be a alternative solution since they can easily access those areas.
Load More Replies...Several years ago I had to clean a bunch of kudzu and other plants from the back yard of a property I oversaw. I hired a company that uses goats, and it worked out very well: 1) reasonably priced, 2) goats were fun to watch, and 3) they left some free fertilizer.
Load More Replies...Goats are actually not the best to clean wild environments. They like to eat the bark of trees which can make the trees more susceptible to diseases. Llamas and alpacas are a better choice. But all are better than nothing or heavy machinery.
What about sheep, or deer, I wonder... As llamas and alpacas are not native here...
Load More Replies...We have wild horses doing that job. We are happy to have them, to protect our unique and delicate eci-systems, and nobody ever will get it into their mind of hunting and killing them, be it by helicopter or other means. They have to sort themselves out, the only managing done is pulling out male yearlings if there are too many, to train and sell them as riding horsed. No salami.
This is a great service but it is important to make sure you have someone herding the goats. Attended goats help reduce fire danger. Unattended goats just eat everything and strip the land so the next batch of rain causes a mudslide.
Is the author confused about the difference between the city of Los Angeles and the State of California?
Poorly referenced, maybe. But goats are used all over California for weed abatement, not solely in LA.
Load More Replies...When the idea was first brought up, the locals were against letting the goats graze the canyons because it would deprive the deer of their food. They have now decided (correctly IMHO) that the deer can move on to find food and the canyon will re-grow, but it won't sustain a forest fire and their homes might just stand a few more years! We have been using goats to clear riparian areas for years in both Colorado and Wyoming.
Ed Savitt, From London, Was A Student At The University Of Newcastle. At First, He Couldn’t Work Out How The Washing Machine In The Uni House Worked
So he decided to reach out to the previous tenant, Heidi Parker, seeking help with the washing machine.
The two of them started chatting and soon became close. In 2015, they got engaged and the next year they married.
One evening, they were at dinner with their parents. Heidi’s mom mentioned that when Heidi was 6, she had a little boyfriend called Ed while on holiday in Turkey. She showed them a photo of Heidi and her ‘boyfriend’. They were all astonished. The 6-year-old kids in the photo were Heidi and her now husband - Ed Savitt.
"I was so shocked I actually had to lie down," Heidi commented. "I have no memory of meeting Ed as a child, but from the photos we had been spending an awful lot of time together while we were on holiday.”

“We do a birthday party for unique kids. I call them unique kids because I don’t like the name ‘special needs’, because I think they’re unique,” she explained.
The 'community birthday party' began two years ago with just 25 kids. This year, there were more than 50 children, all of varying ages and with different needs, who were invited. Everything is free, and there's no need for anyone to bring gifts.

Roman Mcconn, 12, Started Serving Animal Shelters At The Age Of 4
That is when he realized the harsh reality these animals face if they don’t find a forever home.
The fact that they would get euthanized shocked him. So, he made it his mission to find homes for as many dogs as he could.
Together with his mom, he started visiting animal shelters, filming dogs and spreading their sad stories.
And Roman’s efforts didn’t stop there. With the help of his parents he started the Project Freedom Ride (PFR). He transfers dogs from high-k**l areas, like Texas, to areas where the demand is higher than the availability.
Furthermore, PFR connects online shelter dogs with forever parents from all the Pacific Northeast and Northwest.
In November 2018 he received the ASPCA's "Kid of the Year" award. In 2019, he appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show where Ellen gifted him $20,000 for his organization.
Now Roman has his own TV series called "Roman to the Rescue," and has rescued more than 4,500 dogs so far!
Sometimes heroes come in size small. What a beautiful kid. Parents must be proud.
Where do I find this boy? Can I just give him a hug for this?
I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest but I cannot, for the life of me, locate the Pacific Northeast.

"So grateful to our front line workers serving so kindly. The gesture was amazing but the kind words and lovely conversation they shared even more so," Neil wrote in his post.
I have been getting them on and off as I read this post.

In 2009, When He Was Just 13 Years Old, Jacques Ruffin’s Mom Purchased A Trumpet From Allegro Music Centre In Fl, USA
She had to make repayments for the instrument to James W. Jones, the owner of the center.
But during that time, it was the peak of the global financial crisis. Jacques’s mother was ill and lost her job, so she couldn't afford the repayments. When the owner found out, he decided to forgive the debt.
Years later, while Jacques, now 21, was cleaning his mother’s closet, he found the letter. He was amazed by this act of kindness.
That inspired Jacques to launch a fundraiser that raised $3,000 for music programs in "impoverished areas."
"I really appreciate what he did. He is a hero in my eyes," Jacques commented.
Pay it forward has been my motto long before it became a cultural term. This system works.
In Early 2023, A Doctor Prescribed Erlend Bore, From Norway, To Some Fresh Air More Often
Erlend bought a metal detector and started taking walks.
During the summer of 2023, he made the "gold find of a century" on the island of Rennesoey, near the city of Stavanger.
He uncovered nine gold pendants, three gold rings, and ten gold pearls. Someone wore these fancy pieces of jewelry some 1,500 years ago.
According to Norwegian law, objects predating 1537 and coins from before 1650 are considered state property. That is why Erlend promptly turned over the treasure he discovered to the Archaeological Museum at the University of Stavanger.
Associate Professor Håkon Reiersen, from the archaeological museum, dated this gold to around 500 AD. This period in Norway is known as the Migration Period, which occurred between approximately 400 and 550 AD and was marked by widespread migrations across Europe.
The treasure will be displayed at the Archaeological Museum of Stavanger, located about 300 kilometers southwest of Oslo.
I feel like Europeans / other countries have it better than the USA when it comes to metal detecting as a hobby. The USA is young enough I might find a ring but I'm never going to find royal artifacts of some Roman or Chinese emperor or a chest of gold hidden by the Spaniards or whatever. On my property I'd probably just find a couple of old car parts or something. :)
I’m from the west coast of Canada, and we often find Hudson’s Bay Company or First Nations artifacts :) if you’re really, really lucky there’s some Viking stuff around too. I bet the USA has some cool old stuff kicking around in the dirt too, especially in the east coast where a lot of migrants settled.

The State Of Texas Passed House Bill 598. This Is An Important New Law That Prevents People Convicted Of Animal Cruelty From Owning Pets For Five Years After Their Conviction
The measure covers a wide range of animal cruelty crimes, with no exceptions for owning service animals during the ban. Violating the law carries consequences ranging from a Class C misdemeanor with fines of up to $500 to a Class B misdemeanor for a repeat offense that potentially carries fines of $2,000 and up to 180 days in jail.
5 years?! No, these sadistic creeps should be banned for life from even being within so many feet of an animal.
From the other side of the rainbow bridge, a lot of happy barking, meowing, squeaking, chirping, etc.
Hasn't it been proven that there is a correlation between animal cruelty and violence towards people?
They forever have forfeited the privilege of sharing the companionship of an animal.
Many Single Mothers In Zanzibar Used To Farm Seaweed Until 2009
The job was tough and very low-paid. On top of that, rising sea temperatures caused low yields and poor quality of the seaweed.
Things changed when the Swiss nonprofit Marine Cultures established sea sponge farming in 2009. Marine Cultures help improve gender equality in Zanzibar while protecting the region’s natural habitat.
The organization trains divorced women and single mothers how to swim, dive, use equipment and gear, and how to care for the sponges. It also teaches them book-keeping, marketing, and grading the sponges for sale.
The women sell each sponge for 37,000-74,000 Tanzanian shillings ($15 - $30) depending on its size and quality.
“I earn a stable monthly income enough to meet my family’s needs,” Hindu Simai Rajabu, a single mom of two, shared.
Some people like to wash themselves in the shower / bath with them.

Over The Course Of Two Decades, Koala Populations In Australia Have Declined By Over 50% As A Result Of Deforestation, Drought, And Bushfires
That is why the government of New South Wales has recently imposed a logging ban in a region, which includes 106 "koala hubs". It is a significant part of a planned 315,000-hectare Great Koala National Park.
"This decision is also a recognition that logging has a devastating impact on koalas and biodiversity," Nature Conservation Council acting chief executive, Brad Smith, commented.
It is a proven concept in my country, that wild horses keep forest areas (and unique, delicate nature areas) in a perfect shape for other animals to find shelter, food and safe breeding conditions. And prevent spreading of fires, by keeping the grass and undergrowth short. Unfortunately Australia uses unrealistic fertiliy rates, claims an infestation and kills all of them. Reason: They are not native. Following that, of course all sheep and cattle need to be removed as well, they are not native, tol.
I wonder if the newspapers in NSW have the same sort of negative opinion letters because of this that Vic got when we stopped logging some of the forests near me. All about how local jobs disappeared because of the decision, which of course is the only thing we should consider.
Michael Rayner, An American Based Juggler, Started Practicing His Tricks Two Years After High School
In 1982, during a country fair in a village near Michigan, IN, the crowd showed their talents. Michael performed a few tricks and won $25 ($79.19 in today's money). He practiced more and decided to make a career out of his hobby.
Since then, he has performed in Japan, the Cayman Islands, 40 states, and more (even Canada). He appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden and America’s Got Talent. His videos on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok have millions of views.
But when someone left a hateful comment on his TikTok video, Michael made sure to respond. He revealed how his juggling career allowed him to get a two bathroom house, a car, and among other things, allowed him to pay for his daughter's college education.

“In the meantime, my dog decided that she was going to look after them. She was cleaning them, and within a few hours, was making milk,” Sue commented. “She doesn’t make enough milk, so I’m feeding them as well but she does everything else which is marvellous.”
Sue will keep the kittens until they are old enough to go to their new homes, which have already been found.
“She stays cuddled up to them all night. If anybody comes in who she doesn’t know and the kittens have gone astray, she’ll pick them up and put them back into bed,” Sue added.

One In Six Species In The UK Is On The Brink Of Extinction
Fortunately, multiple local wildlife restoration projects have gained popularity across the country.
The nature restoration project Back on Our Map has successfully reintroduced seriously endangered species, such as the hazel dormouse and small blue butterflies. This project involves prison inmates and mental health clients.
Landowners have joined the Woven Earth Project in Derbyshire and the WildEast conservation group in East Anglia. These projects encourage landowners to leave part of their land uncultivated, leading to increased biodiversity.
Wild flowers sprouted and attracted invertebrates and insectivorous birds like the spotted flycatchers and swallows. This led to a “massive increase” of weasels, badgers and deer.
“We have seen new species arrive and numbers of local species grow,” Eleanor Atkins, a volunteer, commented. “It is a joy to watch the seasons change in this natural oasis.”

A Research Team At The Ecole Polytechnique Federale De Lausanne In Switzerland Has Reported A Groundbreaking Achievement In Bioelectronics
They have managed to use common E. coli bacteria to generate electricity.
E. coli bacteria are found in a wide range of environments, including wastewater. The EPFL scientists used a process called extracellular electron transfer (EET). They managed to bioengineer the E. coli bacteria to be highly efficient "electric microbes."
They have created a complete EET pathway within these bacteria, spanning the inner and outer membranes of the cell. This leads to a three-fold increase in electric current generation, surpassing all other known approaches.
“Instead of putting energy into a system to process organic waste, we are producing electricity while processing organic waste at the same time - hitting two birds with one stone,” Professor Ardemis Boghossian from EPFL, commented.

Through the non-profit, Schuindt and his team offer free music lessons and instruments to children aged 7 to 17.
Petrochemical company Braskem donates polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes that are usually used in construction and hydraulic installations. They are then turned into violins and cellos for the young musicians.
The production process is quite time-consuming. It consists of 42 steps according to Ivan da Silva Oliveira, a luthier who makes violins for the Locomotive Project. The PVC pipes are cut, heated, framed, and then trimmed.
But the savings are worth all that effort. A crafted violin can cost up to 8,000 reais ($1,540) while the cost of the PVC string instrument drops to 300 reais ($59.83).
“It’s a sensational thing, knowing that a pipe that carried water now brings music,” Gabriel Santos Espinoza, 11, who received a PVC violin, commented.

After A Little Bear Cub Caught Its Paw Inside A Crook In A Tree, A Florida Fish And Wildlife Conservation (Fwc) Official Came To The Rescue
The FWC official, who arrived at the scene first, called in a bear biologist to help. The two of them spent about two hours trying to help the little bear without much success.
They tried moving the tree back and forth to free the cub. They even tried dipping its leg into dish soap to make it slippery enough to escape. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful.
They needed a new plan, so they located a local resident and borrowed his chainsaw to cut the tree.
One of them held the cub, trying to avoid claws and teeth, while the other cut the tree and set it free. They performed a quick medical check and made sure the young one was okay. After that, they let it run back into the wild and find its mommy.
I hope it really did find its momma and she didn't abandon it, otherwise letting it go was a death sentence..

I’ll never understand how people have the heart to abandon their senior pets. We pet owners everywhere pray to get more time with our old pets, refusing to part with them. How can spend so many years falling in love with your fur babies only to give them up when they need you the most?!
Usually not a choice. An elderly person going into a home or no longer able to care for the animal, this may be the best choice they have. Also, death makes a lot of decisions for us
Load More Replies...I have a friend who does this. She adopts the most senior dogs in the shelter and takes care of them through the end of their life. After one passes she goes and adopts another oldie. She usually has 2 at a time. I'm not sure I could handle that emotionally, but she's an amazing person!
Canadian Actor Michael J. Fox Became Known To The Public In The 1980s, With The TV Comedy “Family Ties”
His “Back to the Future” movies also had immense success. What remained a secret to the audiences for years was that Fox had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s when he was just 29.
In 2000, Fox founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The goal of the organization is to help fund research into this disease and find an efficient cure. His outstanding advocacy work helped raise more than $1.5 billion, all of which goes for the cause.
In November 2022, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences honored the actor. Fox, 62, received the 2022 Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for his contributions to humanitarian causes.
“It is humbling in the deepest way to stand here and accept your kindness,” Fox said while receiving the prestigious Oscar in front of an A-list crowd of stars. They all gave him a standing ovation.
He was at the BAFTAs this year and when he was announced as presenting the last award, the reaction was awesome, standing ovation, cheering, the lot! At the after parties he was mobbed by stars asking for selfies!

5-Year-Old Tobi Okunseinde, Of Haworth, Nj, Was Diagnosed With Sickle Cell Anaemia Before His 1st Birthday
This painful and life-shortening disease is generally known as incurable.
However, last year, his parents found out about a curative therapy through a bone marrow transplant. The Okunseindes were relieved to discover that Tobi’s little brother, Kwasi, was a match.
The transplant surgery took place at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital in NJ. In May 2023, a year after Tobi received the transplant, he was officially considered cured.
"Going to kindergarten as just a 'regular kid' has just been the most fantastic experience," Tobi's father, Folu, commented.
Fun fact sickle cell anemia is a mutation of the body to help fight against malaria but in the modern world it is considered a disease.
I’m pretty sure sickle cell occurs when someone inherits the mutation from both parents and when only one is present the body is better equipped to deal with malaria. Sickle cell anemia most definitely is a disease though, the red blood cells are misshapen and die in 10-20 days instead of the usual 120 days a healthy red blood cell lasts which causes fatigue because there isn’t enough oxygen being distributed throughout the body. Other symptoms include pain and swelling, vision issues and something about the spleen was mentioned in the web md article I just read as well. Children with sickle cell tend to be small, have delayed puberty and spend a great deal of time in hospital.

Despite his busy life, he decided to go back to university to complete his master's degree. Over the past two years, he worked three jobs while attending college. He also made sure his 9-year-old son, Desmond Jr., was fed, loved, and always completed his homework.
Desmonds was motivated to succeed, and all his efforts paid off. Earlier this year, he graduated with a master's in Arts and Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. He was invited to deliver a commencement speech.
"You have to know why you do what you do and as long as you know your 'why' it's gonna drive you every single day," Desmond commented.
What an impressive man. I just wish everyone could live in an economic system where people could live decently with one job and get free education. 😐
as someone unable to yawn and think at the same time, I am always admiring these successes ! great for them !

Researchers From The Chalmers University Of Technology In Sweden, Have Developed A Recycling Method That Recovers 100% Of Aluminum And 98% Of Lithium From Used Electric Vehicle Batteries
Unlike traditional methods, this innovative approach uses oxalic acid derived from plants to recover lithium and aluminum first. This method reduces the waste of valuable metals such as nickel, cobalt, and manganese.
The researchers pointed out that this method is environmentally friendly and can be scaled up for industrial use.
This is one big problem with electric vehicles - the bloomin' batteries. We need better batteries, more eco-friendly batteries, longer-lasting batteries.
After Noticing A Large Number Of Cats In Boxes In A Cemetery, Animal Welfare Activists In China Called The Police For Help
Upon their arrival, the police found more than 1,000 cats that were supposedly intended for illicit meat trade.
The rescued cats have since been taken to a shelter.
I'm a cat lover and have had several but I do wonder how we've decided that it's OK to eat some animals but not others.
Humans mostly eat herbivorous animals; pigs are an exception. Carnivores apparently taste foul and can contain substances that are poisonous etc.

Phyllis Mueller And Her Husband, Glenn Warren, Moved From Pasadena To Idyllwild, CA, In The Summer Of 2011
During that time, the town’s animal rescue center was holding its first-ever pet election.
Phyllis decided to campaign for her golden retriever, Max I. He won with an overwhelming majority and became the first-ever pet mayor of the city in 2012. She became his chief of staff. Sadly, Max passed away nine months later, but Phyllis continued holding the mantle with his successors.
Recently, his third generation successor, Max III, celebrated his first birthday, as well as one busy year in the office. He had daily appearances in the center of town, visited hospitals, schools, and nursing homes, and encouraged despairing people to carry on.
“With the mayors, I want to remind people that there is good in the world. Every day, people do good things,” Phyllis commented. “These dogs here, they are living angels, and they love you with all their heart.”

I need to make a note so if I ever see a Collettey's, or its products for sale, I'll buy.
Charles “Chuck” Feeney Co-Founded Airport Retailer Duty Free Shoppers Together With Robert Miller In 1960
The stores quickly became popular among travelers, and Feeney soon became a billionaire.
As a philanthropist, he pioneered the idea of Giving While Living. He anonymously donated more than $8 billion to charities, universities, and foundations worldwide through his foundation, the Atlantic Philanthropies.
In the 1980s, he established General Atlantic, a private equity powerhouse. His aim was to invest in high-growth businesses, support visionary founders, and fund the global charitable pursuits of the Atlantic Philanthropies.
On September 14, 2020, Charles completed his four-decade mission to give away all his fortune while he was still alive. He signed the documents to shutter the Atlantic Philanthropies the same day.
“My thanks to all who joined us on this journey. And to those wondering about Giving While Living: Try it, you'll like it,” he commented.

Claudio Barchiesi Is A 20-Year-Old Economics University Student From Barzano, Italy
Earlier this year, he undertook a daring challenge.
Claudio embarked on a 1,500 km (932-mile) cycling journey through Europe, covering the distance from Barzano to his grandparents' home in Suffolk, England. He set off on August 23, 2023, and completed his trip in 15 days.
His journey led him across the Swiss Alps, along the Rhine in France, through Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, and ultimately to England, crossing the English Channel via ferry from The Netherlands.
His goal was to raise one euro for every kilometer he cycled and the result surprised him. Claudio has raised over €4,000 which he donated to AIRC - Italian Foundation for Cancer Research.
“I’ve never been prouder of anything in my whole life,” Claudio’s grandma, Pat Stoten, commented.

In June 2021, The Dutchess County Spca In New York Welcomed Annie, A Charming Black Rescue Cat. But Soon After, The Staff Noticed That She Had Health Issues
“Because she was undiagnosed when she arrived, it took some time for us to learn what the problem was and how to treat it…” Lynne Meloccaro, DCSPCA’s executive director, commented. “So… we rolled up our sleeves and got to work to figure out the best treatment plan for her.”
They discovered that Annie was suffering from hyperesthesia, a rare disorder that causes seizures. So, they administered anti-seizure medication to which she responded well.

A Few Years Ago, A Woman Who Beat Cancer Had An Idea On How To Cheer Up The Little Patients At The Hospital
She suggested having police officers rappel down the hospital building dressed up as superheroes.
That woman, along with officials from Children’s Hospital Colorado, approached the police department to make the idea a reality.
Superheroes gathered on the roof of Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora, CO. These were members of the Aurora Police Department SWAT team. Dressed as Superman, Spiderman, Catwoman, and other superheroes, they showcased their rappelling skills down the side of the hospital building.
Following their descent from the roof, the officers enter the hospital to spend time with patients who are unable to move to the windows to watch them. Since then, this has been an annual event, taking place in October to bring the Halloween spirit to the kids.
“We come out here and we do it for the children,” the officer dresses as ‘Iron Man’ explained. “We'll try and wave to them, give them thumbs up, go upside down, maybe try and do a 360. It’s all about them.”
I live in Denver and they still regularly do similar things at the hospital. Construction crews, window washers, and others dress up as heroes if they will be near the windows. I've also heard they do a where's Waldo thing where a volunteer wanders around outside dressed as Waldo.
The Remote Isle Of Eigg Lies 15 Miles Off Scotland's West Coast
With just 110 residents dependent on weekly ferries, island life has always required sustainability. In 1997, facing an uncertain future, the community bought the island to take control.
Since then, Eigg has become a leader in renewable energy. In 2008, they launched the world's first entirely off-grid power system relying on wind, water, and solar energy. This system has provided stable, affordable electricity while reducing the island’s carbon footprint by 90% at times.
By sustainably managing local woodlands and establishing a tree nursery, Eigg residents also meet most of their heating needs through renewable wood fuel. Their stewardship of the land has even supported the return of wildlife, such as sea eagles.
Wow! That’s cool! I’m curious how they pay for it, if everyone chips in? (Also, missed opportunity to call those birds Seagles)
Nvm I googled it 😊 if anyone’s curious: “The island is 95 percent powered by community-owned renewables, giving islanders 24-hour electricity for the first time….. In August, Ann Scarborough Bull, a marine biologist, and her colleagues traveled to a shuttered oil platform named Holly with a research vessel. They discovered thousands of juvenile rockfish, waving white anemones, clusters of mussels, and silver jack mackerel.
Although not natural structures, the platforms have penetrated deep into the muddy seabed, becoming a home for mussels and barnacles. They also attract larger fish and sea lions.
“These places are extremely productive, both for commercial and recreational fisheries and for invertebrates,” Bull commented.
Above All Things I Regard Kindness Of Heart, And Over The Years I've Tried To Live Like That And Teach My Child To Do The Same
About 2 months ago we met a wonderful man named Tony at the Caltex by the fire station. Vaughn was very sick, and within moments the attendant had him laughing and smiling.
Since then we regularly visit the station and Vaughn eagerly looks out for his new friend. Tony always takes the time to talk to Vaughn about the various bikes we haul to Giba and back and listens so obligingly to him as he chatters away.
So when Tony asked us to look out for a reasonably priced bike for him Vaughn promised to find him one.
Vaughn has been collecting all the silver money around the house for months, saving for a "holiday" for us. One night he came to me and asked if I really wanted a holiday and upon asking why he said he would rather put his savings towards helping Tony get his bike.
And so today, we cracked open the piggy bank and took all the silvers to Game where he bought his friend a bicycle.
Our children make us proud on so many occasions but today my heart and his are so full of the joy on the kind man's face as he, rather stunned, accepted his gift from this 10 year old boy.
Prawn Fish it will be years until your mom allows you on Facebook but when you do see this post, know that today of all your days on this planet so far my heart is the fullest and most proud of you it's ever been. Keep being kind, and generous, with your time and money and remember bringing joy to others can bring just as much joy to yourself.
Honestly i do her really teary at these but honestly my jaded self wonders how many times a person or adults use their kids for social clout instead of actually just doing the right thing. He didn't want anyone to know because what use is it if everyone knows he's done it unless asked by the peoples he's helped that is.
The U.S. Department Of Agriculture Has Announced The Launch Of A New Program Called The Community Eligibility Provision
This program aims to make more students in low-income communities eligible for free breakfast and lunch at school.
Previously, parents had to fill out individual applications to participate in such a program. Now, schools that join the program receive federal funding based on income data to provide free or low-cost meals to all students.
This change is expected to benefit about 5 million students in 3,000 school districts.
The voters of Colorado passed Proposition FF which provides free school lunches to every student in the state starting with the 2023-2024 school year.
Our school still requires an application, but there are no income barriers for free meals
This still blows my mind. I only had to buy food in highschool (private school). Every other time we were provided food free of charge, no paying going on for students.
Engineers From The Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (Mit) And Shanghai Jiao Tong University In China Have Come Up With A New Desalination Device
It efficiently turns seawater into drinkable water at a rate higher than any other device currently tested.
The system is passive, solar-powered, and doesn’t need additional electricity to run. It avoids the salt-clogging issues that plague other passive desalination devices, by creating swirling eddies that flush out the salt. That gives the device a lifespan of several years before needing replacement parts.
The system can be scaled up to the size of a small suitcase to meet the daily needs of a small family, producing 4 to 6 liters of freshwater per hour. By some estimates, the water production rate and price are cheaper than tap water.
“...for the first time, it is possible for drinking water produced by sunlight to be cheaper than tap water. This opens up the possibility for solar desalination to address real-world problems,” MIT graduate student Yang Zhong explained.
Amazing! All of these inventions should give us hope for the future. There is a lot to be done, but there are so many magnificent minds working hard every day to prove that humanity is capable of overcoming tough challenges.
For The Past 20 To 30 Years, There Was No Tool Capable Of Destroying Pfas - The So-Called “Forever Chemicals”
Recently, Tacoma, WA, startup, Aquagga, the created an effective PFAS-destroying prototype named “Eleanor.”
Its size is relatively compact, and the unit is housed inside a 10-feet-long by 8-feet-wide shipping container. Aquagga’s device uses a process called hydrothermal liquefaction to convert PFAS from wastewater into harmless substances.
The device was tested in Alaska, at a lined underground pit containing 20,000 gallons of water contaminated with firefighting foam high in PFAS. “Eleanor” managed to reduce the foamy toxic water to 1,000 gallons - effectively purifying the rest.
“It’s been quite impressive. Seeing it onsite is pretty amazing," Elise Thomas, environmental program manager, commented.
Researchers At Massachusetts General Hospital In Boston, Ma, Have Discovered A New Method For Treating Alzheimer's Disease (Ad)
They developed 3D human cell culture models of AD, which demonstrate that the major factors contributing to the condition are twofold - the generation of amyloid beta deposits, followed by tau tangles.
While researchers knew that physical exercise reduces the levels of amyloid beta, they didn't fully understand why. Recent research has revealed that exercise increases the levels of the hormone irisin. When irisin was injected into the bloodstream, it reached the brain directly.
This caused brain cells known as astrocytes to increase the activity of the beta-amyloid-degrading enzyme neprilysin. As a result, this leads to reduced levels of amyloid beta and therefore a potential treatment for AD.

Just two days after the hotline launched, they started receiving up to 700 calls per hour. "That this went viral is really a testament that we all still have a lot of healing to do," she added.
The hotline is still active today. However, they depend on sponsors and individual donations (which are very low) to cover the hotline fees.

Shortly afterwards when the staff told the group that a random couple just paid for their meal the look on their faces was priceless as was their reaction as they said (nearly in tears) "We go out regularly together and the next time we are out we are going to pay for someone's meal to pass on the kindness...
If that couple wants to come forward Robs Ranch House would like to treat them to a meal on us.

My birthday is Sept 2 and I share it with my first cousin and a third cousin. I was supposed to be born around Christmas time, but apparently I didn't want to wait that long. Lol
Someone really likes Thanksgiving weekend. Average gestation is 280 days and all 3 kids were born within 4 days of Thanksgiving happy time.
Not sure that's great. The kids don't get their own individual birthdays.
Hopefully that will be the only hardship they face in life. If so, they are blessed beyond measure!

In 2018, IEEE Senior Member Morgan Kiani, an engineering professor at Texas Christian University, traveled to Cairns, Australia.
While in Cairns, she visited a store that sold purses and clothes made by villagers from Melamchi, Nepal. The owner told her that the sales of the products supported the village’s school, which had been destroyed by an earthquake in 2015. The earthquake severely damaged Melamchi’s power lines, and the school had no reliable electricity.
In 2023, a team of IEEE volunteers, led by Kiani, installed an 11-kilowatt photovoltaic system, a 200-liter solar water heater, and a 38.4-kWh battery storage system at the Shree Batase Secondary School in Melamchi.
“Access to reliable power has empowered not only the children but also the other villagers,” Kiani commented. “They now have reliable access to the Internet—which opens up another world for educational content.”
In October, 2023, Teachers Karen Pollard And Rick Gott From Natomas, Ca, Were On A 3-Day School Trip
While they were away, someone broke into their home.
The thieves stole items, including clothes, electronics, and guitars, amounting to approximately $25,000. To help them out, a co-worker of the couple, Sarah Winter, set up a GoFundMe for them.
“Rick and Karen are pillars of the community and have selflessly dedicated over 25 years of their life to their students, their colleagues and friends. In situations like these, the power of community support can make a significant difference,” Sarah wrote on the fundraising page.
So far, the campaign has raised nearly $12,000.
“Our colleagues and community have lifted us up and it is energising and giving us so much joy,” the couple said in a statement.
Zac And Brittney Wolfe, Of St. Mary, Pa, Tried To Have A Baby Right After Their Marriage In 2015
Unfortunately, Brittney couldn't get pregnant naturally.
The couple went through rounds of intrauterine insemination, in-vitro fertilization and embryo adoption. But sadly, all of Brittney’s pregnancies ended with miscarriages.
They decided to go through an adoption process and even found a local woman who was pregnant and wanted to give away her baby. However, they still decided to try one more round of embryo adoption.
"We'd had the failed embryo transfer and we also had so many [adoption] scams," the couple commented. "We knew both of them may not work. So we went for it."
Doctors transferred 3 embryos, and miraculously, Brittney became pregnant with triplets. They also adopted Charlie, the pregnant woman's baby.
Brittney’s pregnancy had no complications and the triplets were born on October 19, 2023. The Wolfes are now parents of 4 children under the age of 1.
I'm happy for them, but also... godspeed! Four under 1s is mind-boggling! I hope they are all finding their way together as a family and wish them all the best of health!
they must be EXHAUSTED. but I'm sure they're very happy too, all of those babies were very wanted and longed for.
On October 9th Of This Year, The Colonial School District In Pa Welcomed 17 Sets Of Twins On Their First Day Of Kindergarten
Seven new pairs of twins will attend Ridge Park Elementary School, six sets of twins enrolled at Whitemarsh Elementary School, and four pairs of twins began their kindergarten classes at Plymouth Elementary.
This group of students is the second-largest group recorded since 19 sets of twins started kindergarten in the region in 2015.
we should be starting a go fund me to raise alcohol money for the teacher, they're going to need it
19 sets 13 years ago as well. I looked up the school - the town it is in (Plymouth Meeting) only has 6100 people. Either there are a lot families in that town that have a strong genetic line of twinning or there's some sort of Estrogenic endocrine-disrupting chemicals being leached into the water supply. There's lots of pesticides linked to changes.
Tamara Loving, 45, Of Huntington Beach, Ca, Was 22 When Her Mom Died Of Breast Cancer
After this tragic moment, she started gaining weight. Following the birth of her son, she reached her highest weight at 269 pounds. She joined WeightWatchers and lost weight, only to regain it multiple times.
In 2016, she joined WeightWatchers for the last time and successfully maintained her weight loss.
During the same year doctors detected suspicious areas, and after a biopsy, they diagnosed her with breast cancer. Tamara underwent surgery and later a double mastectomy. Since then, she has been officially considered cancer-free.
“The doctors have said, ‘I think your weight loss saved your life.’ Because I don’t know if I still had been 260 pounds that anything would have been found in that mammogram,” Tamara commented.
Hard to get behind this story, it's touching but on the same spectrum it's promoting a very greedy company.
Subway Is Adding Footlong Chocolate Chip Cookies To Its Permanent Menu Beginning In Early 2024
The popular sandwich chain tested offering the oversized cookies last year in Miami and saw them sell out within two hours. This demonstrated significant demand from customers to make them a regular option.
On December 4th, National Cookie Day, select Subway locations in Chicago, Dallas, Miami and New York will be transformed into one-day "Cookieways" where the footlong cookies will be given out for free with any footlong sandwich purchase between 1 and 6pm.
The cookie giveaway is meant to offer fans an early taste before they're rolled out nationwide next year. Proceeds from cookie sales in December will also benefit Subway's foundation that provides scholarships to employees.
We have these in my local Subway. Underwhelming is the polite way to describe their taste.
Why is this on here? Like i get the idea but a company who is notorious for lying to it's customers makes a weird cookie and gives it away for a promotion to boost sales and we should celebrate this? I'm sorry but no. This isn't feel good. You HAVE to purchase first and depending on the sub it's 15-20$USD so why should i celebrate a free 2 dollar cookie but lose up to 18 dollars for it?
In 2013, Clon Created Blue Cat
Two years later, Clon created @thecatoonist on Instagram, and he spent all his days sharing Blue Cat’s story at flea markets, festivals, drawing events, and galleries, slowly growing his following and his dream.
In 2021, Blue Cat became the main character of the NFT brand, Cool Cats, and the brand launched into mainstream popularity, with billboards all over NYC. Earlier this year, Cool Cats made their debut at San Diego Comic Con.
And today, Clon saw his character as a balloon in one of the most iconic traditions in the U.S. – Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
“I want to use Blue Cat and my story to inspire the creator that exists in all of us – you never know where it might lead you!” – Clon
I think we all need more of this. More reminders of the good that's happening all around us, every day, by ordinary people. I know I needed it.
No kidding! I hope BP shares more positive stories in the future, we all need more hope and smiles these days 🤞😊

"We promote health and wellness.." with our overly sugary bread that can't even be classified as bread in some parts of the world because of its sugar content. Also cool a dude got to see his character be included in a parade due to the popularity of his nft' artwork that also exploited people with vaporware value when we ask know it was never worth that much.
Is anyone else experiencing this glitch in the app lately? On all the listicles I've seen recently, including this one and the one about tourists making rude comments on other peoples countries, the sentences on every item cut off after about 10 words. It's really annoying.
Hi BP! tbh, no one wants to hear about the “life changing” gadgets you can buy on temu. We want this sort of thing!!
