Hey, I’m Amir Lopez; I’m based in Melbourne, Australia, and create “Wyatt & Blu” comics.
While during lockdown (which we’re back to again recently), I created a unique, wholesome, and funny series of lockdown-ish comics that were inspired by my daily life with my fiancé, friends, and other things going on in the world right now. I’m still creating more for this series, but here’s the 36 I’ve made so far.
Despite the gloomy times, I aim to find the positive and funny side of things, which I think is essential, as there’s so much negativity in the world. The aim of “Wyatt & Blu” comics is to bring a smile to your face, as we need it sometimes to get us through.

Here's a little about me. I'm a Filipino-American living in Australia. I moved to Australia a couple years ago for work, and then met my wife here.
I have a corporate job as a marketing professional and do these comics on the side. I studied marketing and communications in university and didn’t think I was going to be a creative of some sort, nor was comics ever in my mind at that time. But I always did love writing and entertaining, so it eventually and surprisingly led me to comics somehow. And now I love making them.
i feel like even though i have so much time i just don't have the motivation to do anything
I, seriously, got into art around freshman year of high school. Outside of class (actually, sometimes in class), I wrote a lot. Mostly hip-hop stuff and poems. It continued into university but slowly came to a full stop. I then graduated and started working, and have always thought about writing again, but was trying to find out what that would look like. At some point, after a couple of years, I discovered webcomics, and I was like "Okay, I'm going to do this." And now, here I am.
uff i honestly dont understand why ppl just wont stop this nonsense about having the freedom to choose to stay inside, its like all rationality has left their brain
The reason why I love making comics is that it’s a creative outlet for me, so I enjoy being able to express these ideas that I have in my head. Secondly, I enjoy the entertainment people get from them.
I get my inspiration from daily life, current affairs, and pop culture. I aim to find humor and amusement in things that I believe will be relatable or understandable at a broad scale. The ideas sometimes come out of nowhere and I write them down, or I, purposely, sit down and think of comic ideas.
My favorite webcomic artists are War & Peas, Poorly Drawn Lines, Mr. Lovenstein, and Sundae Kids. In addition to The Awkward Yeti and Enzo Comics, all the webcomic artists I’ve mentioned have influenced my comic writing the most. And a special mention to Jim Davis, creator of Garfield, who inspires my diligence.
Tell her "some random person on the internet told me to tell you your awesome" because I did:)
Load More Replies...I can't freaking wait to get my hair cut, my neck is so itchy it's unbearable.
Halfway through I got desperate and took clippers to my own head. I'm a mother. But dang if it didn't help to get through the hot summer last year!
well theres nothing wrong with wearing a pretty mask as long as it is safe
Some of you might've noticed that I've changed my comic title from Wyatt & Blu to Amir Lopez. Initially, I thought my page would just be the Wyatt & Blu series, and any new comics would just get their own page. But later down the line when I started thinking of trying other comic series and one-off comics, I decided it would be better and easier to share it all from one page. So with that in mind, I changed the name of the website and social profiles to something more broad and all-encompassing - my name: Amir Lopez.
Should've said a month later. It takes years to learn to be one however during quarantine.. that changes everything when you're really that bored out of your mind
I've been asked to give some advice to those who would like to try making comics. My advice is to just do it, and, ultimately, find your voice. I understand everyone will have a different objective with their work, either to do it casually or to be commercially successful. But for either, you've got to start somewhere, and at some point, an important part is to find your unique voice.
My plans are simply to just keep doing these comics regularly and see what it grows into. I’ll likely trial a new series at some point, but I need to flesh out what that will be. Hope you're enjoying my comics! Follow me on social or my website. I plan to continue these comics regularly so if you like wholesome, funny, and quirky comics—you know where to find me!
If sleeping were actually a sport, I would get all the first place medals in the world
Why do people even bother lying? Nobody is fooled. You work, you get money, that's it.
Yeah. That's how it works. Just don't assume you need to let them use you as doormats.
Thanks you! Yes, we intend to keep making them :D
