Meet Sonia Yeo, a Singapore-based artist who has been creating comics for quite some time now. Her cartoons draw inspiration from real-life events involving animals. She created Corgiyolk, a collection of heartwarming comics, in the hope that it brings smiles to people's faces. The comic revolves around a lovable corgi character that appreciates the beauty in all animals, whether big or small.

"With every animal Corgi encounters, we can find lessons in personal growth, self-love, and encouragement for those moments when you feel overwhelmed or inadequate. Through these comics, I hope to help you appreciate nature and the animals we share our lives with," the artist shared with Bored Panda.

Maybe... But in the meantime I'm waiting and suffering in a state that feels like my actions are inconciquential as I receive nothing!

Sonia's comics feature her original character, Corgiyolk whose main aim is to spread pawsitivity. "I experimented a little and finally came up with Corgiyolk. It’s exactly as it sounds — a corgi mashed up with an egg. With Corgiyolk, I created slice-of-life and positive comics to brighten up people's day."

Oh gosh, I think I needed this today. As someone struggling with sexuality and unsupportive parents and some friends, this made me feel a bit more love.

As a good boy, Corgiyolk goes on adventures with his friends - Shiba Inu or Shibe and Otter Eggo. "I’m happy that my comics are able to reach out to people who may find it inspirational, helpful and hope it brings a smile to your face."

Maybe it would also help your self-esteem remembering that a Dumbo octopus can swim into the deepest sea and has been seen swimming where it was 7.000 m (7 km)deep. I have never heard of any bigger octopus doing that.

"Whenever I felt down or found myself mindlessly scrolling through content, I always sought solace in corgi-related material. This led me to the decision of creating a corgi character, whom I named Corgiyolk as a nod to my favorite food. My intention behind featuring this character in my comics is to spread comfort and joy," Sonia shared how she came up with the corgi as the main character for her comics.

The artist revealed to us that when she first started creating comics, people often commented on how cute the character was. "Overtime, as I tell stories of the corgi aiding other animal friends or overcoming personal challenges, readers have told me how my comics have resonated with them.

Every interaction with my audience holds significant meaning for me. Whether it’s readers expressing longtime support at booths, sharing how their own corgis resemble characters in my comics, or reaching out to convey how relatable and timely the stories are, each interaction fills me with warmth and gratitude. It’s heartening to hear how much joy and inspiration my comics bring to them."

"At times, I craft comics to convey a specific message, while other times, I create them as a means to navigate my emotions. Whether I’m feeling lost or joyful, creating comics serves as both an outlet and a form of expression. Ultimately, it’s my passion for storytelling that motivates me to make comics."

And sometimes you have to say this to yourself because no one else is around to say it.
