I have a gorgeous pedigree 3 year old Maine c**n the same colour, called Orson. However, although he's an adult and fully grown, he's smaller than the average pet cat. He was the runt out of a large litter of 14 and 1/5 of the size of his brothers and sisters. The breeder neglected him, didn't advertise him or anything and just by chance we visited her house a few hours before she was going to "humanly dispose of him" (read break his neck and kill him) I was sat on her sofa when I felt this little brush of fluff against my ankle and picked him up. He was tiny and could sit in the palm of my hand! He snuggled up on my chest and his piercing blue eyes engaged with mine. I asked her about him and why she never mentioned him and she explained his size, how he wouldn't get money that the others would and thus her plan and I told her I would pay his vet fees and take him with me. He's one of 5 cats I have and I'm sure he knows I saved him that day.

Many years ago I adopted a cat from RSPCA who looked almost exactly like this. He had been treated *very* badly, and displayed behavior that would be called PTSD in humans. Now I am guessing that I had the privilege of living with a Maine C**n for a while. With lots of care and love he rehabilitated very well. And had a lovely life for a few years. Still I miss him.

As a dog person and a fan of adopting (you don't see many Maine Coons in shelters), however, I will probably only ever be able to enjoy them from afar. We had 53 acres and were animal people...we were given a Maine C**n...not this huge but it was big...it ran all over with our 2 Australian Shepherds. I intentionally had a bright orange collar on it so hunters knew it wasn’t a Leopard as it was marked just like one.

Didi, this is a normal pattern for un-sterilized males. Sadly they will usually go on to die early from fights ( and the infections/diseases from wounds) or being hit by cars.

Awsome creatures but over-bred and overpriced. My cat - a rescue, was large and perfect champagne beige colouring to his long fur. We rescued him a second time when the pond was lightlyfrozen and covered with a coating of snow. We saw him investigating it and inching out onto it . I just managed to grab him by the scruff of the neck as the ice broke under him. Damm cats

It is like having your very own mini lion in your house! What an amazingly beautiful cat he is! I've heard they have gentle and almost dog-like personalities too. Of course, I adore all cats so I may be the wrong person to ask. *L*

Yes, this is a big beautiful kitty, but the perspective chosen for the photographs make him look bigger than he really is.

Lotus is def a Maine C**n Cat. You can get a better perspective on them if you visit Robert Sijka's FB page & drooling over his photography of the breed. Many, many Maine Coons that look a lot like Lotus. Sigh. To be owned bu one of these Big Cats....

Damm cats

The adorable monster cat sat patiently at the patio doors holding my favorite Koi Carp in its mouth as "a gift"
