That sounds like you either used a tampon that was too large for you and/or didn't insert it quite right. If you can still feel it while wearing it, it's not in the right position. (The part where it is supposed to sit doesn't have any nerve endings) Most people take some time to learn how to use them. You might want to try again.

I hate them as well. Have you ever tried a moon cup? I know, not erverybody likes that idea but for me they are so much better than tampons or pads.

Well, I don't have a vagina, but I know for once, that is you forget to change a pad, it's okay because, pads are friendly and harmless. But if you forget to change a tampon in eight(or something) hours, it starts to plot against you until you get an infection. That's why tampons suck.*I guess. Just thought this was the reason some girls just prefer pads... Don't get me wrong. Just an opinion.*

Daria, honestly, I thought so too. But its not painful at all, you dont even feel it, there are lot of different sizes and materials and if you use lubricant its really easy. Also its a lot cheaper than pads etc. There is even an online test (Cupfinder or something) which will tell you which cup would work best for you. I guess you can tell im a fan.. :)

Yep, thank you, Martha. I'm considering that option. But no hurry, I don't need it for now, as I'm good with including my precise menstruations within my schedules. But maybe someday.

Ahaha Yeah, MauKini, I see that you're a fan. Honestly, it's good to see you so satisfied. These things are important.

You should at least try them. It can take a bit of experimenting at first to figure out how to put it in the right place at the right angle, but once you learn how, it's great for those really low-flow days or when you want to wear a swimsuit and such. I used them exclusively for many years; only as I approached menopause and my periods started getting much heavier (that happens a lot, unfortunately) did I have to switch to pads, or at least add pads to avoid messing up my clothes. But I love tampons, they're comfy and so convenient. Even throwing them out is easier than pads!

@diane a There are diapers for grown ups. During the years I had a really heavy flow I was thinking about getting some at least for the nights but never actually did.

diapers?? sure my husband would have thought I looked lovely - lol - I was quite accustomed to my 3 x heavy-duty tampons for 3 whole days a month - barely knew they were there and I felt safe. Not tight white trouser safe - but close enough

Re leaks - you just have to remember to change regularly. From my late teens to early 30's ,other than a few years on the pill, my periods were so heavy I had to wear 3 of the largest size tampons (super-plus) at the same time - then set my alarm to wake me at 4am to change. Cant think of a pad that would have coped with that.
