One of the first things you get to know when meeting a new person is their name. Although a name is just like a label that doesn’t actually mean anything or say much about them as a person, certain bad names for boys sound truly weird and have unpleasant connotations.
People can’t wrap their heads around parents still choosing those weird names for boys and girls. Of course, they want their child to be one of a kind, but in reality, unique, strange, and unusually spelled names may cause confusion and inconvenience to the name holder.
If you would like to know which strange boys’ names people would like to see forgotten, then this list is for you. They are the collection of worst names for boys from the thread created by SpiritualNut.
Along with strange names for boys, the list also contains a few R-rated bad boys’ names. So, ensure you don’t read this list in front of minors. Without further ado, let’s check out these awful names!

Ld
I have a great uncle who’s full name is LD. Those aren’t his initials. That’s his full name. When he was trying to get a social security card he wrote LD and they sent it back saying no initials. So he wrote “L Only, D Only.” They sent him a card that said “Lonly Donly.”
"LD" was not an uncommon boy's name in the early 20th century. My quick search found over 500 men with that name and several stories of receiving documents with their names as "Lonly Donly."
X Ae A-XII
X Ae A-Xii
Leave it to celebs to name their children weirdly. Shannyn Sossamon named her boy Audio science.
Lartholomew
Knew two twins, Barry and Larry, which was a bit too cliché already. However, after figuring out their full names were Bartholomew and f*****g *Lartholomew*, it was pretty clear the second one was a surprise and they really didn't have a name ready.
Honourable mention for a Dutch couple I knew, Richard and Willianne, who chose to go by D**k & W***y de C**k.
Bartholomew is a bad name already, but LARTHOLEMEW!?!?!?!? watch these parents then wonder why their children are getting bullied.
Kevin
I gotta say Kevin.
Sorry to all Kevins, but as a German married to an Aussie, this name is tough. To my husband it's a completely normal boys' name, and when we discussed names for our firstborn, I had to explain to him that "Kevin" is completely off the charts because in Germany it's used as an insult.
I think I've heard of scientific studies that have proven that teachers expect less from a boy who's called Kevin, compared to other boys' names. Prejudice is strong about that one. There's a couple of others, but Kevin's like the "godfather of unusable names" in Germany.
Michael Hunt
I worked with a guy named Michael Hunt. He INSISTED we call him Michael. Entertained me to no end.
Jackson
Teacher here. Jacksons are a******s almost 90% of the time. Don’t get me started on Aiden, Ayden, Aden, Caiden and Brayden etc…
Hardik
Here in India, kids are named Hardik. Now imagine he goes to an English speaking country and how his name will be pronounced
Lamie
Met a guy on a dating app named Lamie. Like Jamie but with an L.
My great-grandmother's name was Laime! She was the only person I had ever heard of with that name...until now.
Trebor
Trebor. Not a typo. Apparently this kids dad n grandad where named Robert. So they decided to just name him Robert backwards 🤔
Bushrod And Balzer
Two of the worst real names I've seen - Bushrod and Balzer
Hampy
Going through a family tree project, I found out my great great uncle was named Hampy.
So.... Hampy.
Haven’t found any particularly odd names in my fam tree. I kind of wish I would, as my dad ‘s family is impossible to trace thanks to more than 5 generations the same 12 names repeated over and over by every member of the family who had kids. I think at one point there had to be like 12 Williams, 6 Betty, at least 8 Edwards, and so on living at the same time. Bet those family reunions were great.
Elmo And Hardass
I have two and I've encountered both in the wild.
Elmo - the guy's full name was "Elmo J. Faggins". His parents are ...I don't even want to think about it. This name was just - mean and cruel. I felt sorry for the guy. I could only imagine how much grief he got in school. Not sure if he is still alive or not. This was many years ago.
Hardass - a kid who was a victim of a mother who used drugs while pregnant with him. Thankfully the boy was removed from her care (if you want to call it care) and adopted by a wonderful couple who live near me. They had his name changed, new ssn and everything to prevent his mom from causing any more harm. That woman is a piece of work.
Ahmahndah
Any normal name spelled in a "unique" way to help it stand out. Ahmahndah instead of Amanda comes to mind. Unless there's some places with a different culture where this is considered a normal spelling, but if both of your parents are Anglo in heritage, and they chose this as your name, I'm sorry, it doesn't make you seem "unique" and I feel like it will have ramifications when applying for jobs.
Jaxon Or Jaxson
The name Jackson is fine but I hate when people spell it Jaxon or Jaxson. It makes me cringe so hard for some reason
There was a kid in my elementary school named Jaxon. He went by Jax.
Jaxom, the Lord Holder of Ruatha on Pern, and his white dragon, Ruth! /nerd moment
I had 3 kids in my 7th grade class all named Jackson. Jackson P, Jackson H, and Jaxon. They were all really annoying...
Same. I really don't know why, but these "unique" spellings of perfectly normal names drive me absolutely nuts.
I worked at a maternity clinic until about 6 years ago. I remember in one day, 7 mom-to-be told me they were going to name their sons "Jackson, but spelled with an x, to be different ". It was hilarious, and I didn't have the heart to tell them.
There's a hot Aussie stripper name Jaxon. The name suits him just fine
They have evolved to Jacxksen, Jaxxen, Jacksyn, Jackksen, and Jaxxxenn.
My daughter’s best friend named her kid Jaxson and thinking about the spelling drives her insane lol
A co-worker’s son is named Jaxon. I think he was named after a character on Sons of Anarchy. Those are the tricky situations. I know someone else with a unique name based on a character and if I were gonna have kids (I’m not so the closest thing would be future pets) I probably would have a favorite character name as either the first or middle. Granted the name I’m thinking of is Jack, but still.
I know someone who named their son Jaxom… No it was never meant to be a version of Jackson… Jaxom was the main character in her favourite book growing up. She named her daughter Menolly after the same series.
My friend's grandson is named Jaxson. His cousin is named Braxton. When Braxton was born, her ninety-something year old dad sai
Nimrod
My late husband's great uncle's name was Nimrod. Literally on the mf's birth certificate any everything. So. Nimrod.
Nimrod was the name of a philosopher I’m pretty sure, and then Bugs Bunny used it sarcastically in Looney Tunes and so it became an insult
Laberboi (Lover Boy)
My friend was a nurse, she said some parent named her kid Laberboi (Lover boy)
Prince
Prince, I dont know why, but they all think that they're actors or something
Blade And Chevy
Literally know a kid named Blade. Also, another couple named their son Chevy. Should have just named him Budweiser and gotten it over with if you ask me.
Vanden And Brecken
One of my cousin's named his kids Vanden and Brecken. I've always hated those names.
Arminas
There is a lithuanian name Arminas whey you say it it sounds like arm in a** yeh not a good name
Ashley And Kaiser
I grew up with a guy named Ashley. Whenever he’d get called out of class by the front office over the intercom, they’d give him female pronouns.
Also, I know someone who named their son Kaiser. I have a lot of questions about that choice, but I’ve never asked them because I probably don’t want to know the answers.
D**k
D**k, I don't get how someone names their son d**k!
Gary
Apparently Gary is so bad that it’s a dying name, and no one has named their kid Gary in a few years.
Well; I thought this name would be revived since Spongebob has a cat named Gary.

I was named after a chandelier. 100% true. I'm adopted and when my parents went to attend my birth, they didn't have a name ready. So they called my grandma to tell her and my sister that I was a girl, and to ask for suggestions (my sister, who was 6, was staying with my grandma). My grandma looked up at her bedroom ceiling at her crystal chandelier, and said, "Why not name her Crystal?" And lo and behold, an entire lifetime of hearing the phrase "Is that crystal clear, Crystal?" began. I loathed my name for most of my life (the kids called me "Crystal pistol" and my mom's nickname for me was "Cryssie"), but once I was old enough to actually legally change my name, I didn't care any more XD I do wish more people called me Crys, though. EDIT: My sister has a weird name too. My parents called her "Melanie". She's their biological child.
uhm Melanie is a perfectly normal name in Germany? Less so since 2000 but we had some in our school.
Load More Replies...True story..... when Star Wars Episode 1 came out, the DJ on our national radio (Radio 1) commented how popular culture influenced parents choice of names, as in after Titanic was released, Jack and Rose became very popular, similarly in 1977, Luke became a popular choice. Later on in the broadcast, he received a fax (yes that long ago) saying "I wish I was called Luke. From Jabba the Smith"
There's a girl at my school named "Paighttonn" and honestly i feel so bad for her
I'm beginning to wonder if these spellings are used to disrupt google searches. Hard to cyber stalk someone when you can't spell their name?
Load More Replies...One of my neighbour's dad is called Cornelius and one of my distant relatives was called Septimus. They're interesting names rather than bad though.
Was Septimus born on the 7th of the month or was he the seventh child? Or did they just like the name?

Working many years ago as a nurse, a woman named her twin girls Chlorine and Florine. Nope, she wasn't a chemist, don't think she knew about the periodic table of the elements, either.

Ah, the old Puritan pilgrim names. The Barebones were a fun lot. My favorite of theirs is If-Christ-had-not-died-for-thee-thou-hadst-been-damned.

Because of parents like these lol, Portugal hás a law that you can only name a child from a list of authorized names ( around 1000 ) of course that in Portugal ( and most Latin speaking countries ) you don't just have 1st name, you have 2 first names, followed of your mother's maiden name, and then your father last name.
I tried to explain this to my friend once. He didn't get why and just laughed how we are all called Antonio or Manuel or Carlos. He's a British guy named William.
Load More Replies...I went to school with a Tony Orlando. My sister knew a Mason Dixon. (As in mason-dixon line, the dividing line between the "north" and the "south" during the US civil war. Yes. We lived in the south. )
The Mason Dixon line is actually the result of a war that Pennsylvania and Maryland fought over the border of the two colonies. By war, I mean about 12 guys in a field kinda shooting muskets at each other. It became the traditional border between North and South. However, Maryland, despite remaining a slave state, stayed with the Union during the Civil War.
Load More Replies...I used to live across the street from a family with two little kids: a girl named Flower and a boy named Keebly (named after the Keebler cracker elf). No, I did not make that up.
I have 12 brothers and some of their names are weird. We took a vote one Thanksgiving and decided that Bowan is the weirdest name in the family barely beating out Archer.
When I was in elementary school, a new boy joined our class. He was the only child in our class who was adopted, and he was very comfortable telling us all about what that meant and he was generally a very friendly and intelligent kid. His name was - I kid you not - Foster Holmes. It took me years to figure out why my parents thought I was kidding about his name when I told them about the new kid.
When I first started highschool there was a boy in my class called Shug, everybody even the teacher called him Shug and I only found out about 4 years later that his name was actually Hugh but for some reason in Scotland people name Hugh are called Shug or Shuggie😂
There's a singer by the name of Christopher Cross. Wonder what his tolerance is for being called Chris? ;)
Load More Replies...My Dad's only brother was Bernard, it's a common name in Britain, from Irish. My middle name is Bernadette. My first name is the same as my Mam's only sister. My parents both denied I was called after their siblings. It was just coincidence. Right. 🙄
Load More Replies...For the love of God, don't name your girls Sanita. In Latvia, it means 'healthy little girl', but it means 'toilet' in Portuguese. There are a lot more Portuguese speakers in the US and Canada than people anticipate. I won't forget the first time someone introduced themselves to me, as Sanita. I wasn't sober at the time, so my first instinct was to say something along the lines of "no, your parents did not name you that!' (this was in NJ, lots of Portuguese immigrants). She wasn't pleased, at all, but after explaining to her what her name meant in my house, she then realized why some people looked at her weird, avoided her, or would laugh whenever she was around. So please, for the love of all that is holy, research the name you want to give your kids, so you don't end up naming them 'toilet'.
My sister is a childrens mental health professional. She swears up and down, do not ever name your daughter Hannah. Hannah's are bananas
I would pronounce it Hardick, not hard d**k, you dirty minded people. Tomorrow's lesson; Phuket
I'd like it to be today's lesson just because I'm curious. I had a friend named Phu, pronounced Fu. Would it be like Fu-ket? Or is it literally fück it?

John Tissue. I tell people my mother was a mean woman. As a biology teacher, it is pretty cool to have that as a last name. I give the kids the challenge to come up with "joke about my name I haven't heard."
My grandma was named "Betty Louise" after her aunt Betty, and always went by Louise to avoid confusion. But all her legal documents were signed "Betty Louise". Then when she retired she went to sign up for Social Security and found out her birth certificate actually said "B. Louise". Her first name wasn't Betty. So we teased her about not being legally married to grandpa.
Dad went to get a copy of his birth certificate from the county he was born in while visiting. He was never registered with his name just baby boy and his last name.
Load More Replies...I met a teen girl around 2005 named Reignbeau. It's pronounced rainbow. Never met her mom but her dad was a bicycling, hackie-sack playing, camp outside all the time type of guy. I think he was the black sheep of the family because his cousin (my friend) and his side of the family were very reserved, "stick up their butt" type of people. They could not be more different.
Neveah, heaven spelled backwards. I also used to know a lovely guy who was called Wayne Kerr.
My Grandfather's maiden name is Pugh, pronounced Pew. In the US it's like a nickname for pee-ewe, so her family was teased quite a bit. Her oldest brother became a long running senator in our state, however, so it later became more dignified because of that.
Had a great-great uncle who's name was Goodenough. Youngest kid in a large family. Lol
You say that as I am literally watching Return of the Jedi. 🤣
Load More Replies...Oh the stories I could tell about names from working at a call center. The one that tops them all though is Sh!*head. That is pronounced with the th blended and the ea making a long E sound. It came up in the system, they were a real patient and that was the real name. Poor guy.
Was "blessed" by my parents with a name which technically, in that spelling, is a boy's name, but in 99.98% of cased it is usually a girl's name, just spelt slightly differently. Caused no end of annoyance over the years, particularly with officialdom (for every day use I go by a less ambiguous name). Should have got the damn thing changed officially when I was 18, but too late for that now.
Karen sees tobe increasingly unwanted inthe US. It is however still a legit name in Scandiavia with origin possible back before the Viking age
Heather has disappeared from baby name ranks! I have an endangered name, it’s not even in the top 1100 new baby names. I guess us Heathers will have to wait it out until we are a retro name…. Who would have thought Heathers would be less popular than Louise and Ethel and Agnes. Times change, seasons change, names change!
Friend’s grandmother worked in records, filing birth certificates back in the day. A couple named their boys, orangejello pronounced orangelo and lemenjello pronounced lemongelo. WTF???
My Dad went to school with Merry Christmas. And the brothers Bean. First names? Green and Pressed.
I was working at a high school when a new student enrolled. His name was Swastika.
I went to elementary school with a guy named Hurricane Archer, and his brother was Forrest Archer. I’ve tried Googling them given that they’re such unique names, but I’ve come up empty-handed. Makes me wonder if they changed their names as soon as they were legally allowed to.
I was told about a decade or so ago that when they googled my name they got nothing but a bunch of p*rn. That's when I discovered that the most famous person with my name was a p*rn star.
I once had a neighbor whose first name was Junior. I didn't believe it until he showed me his driver's license. OTOH, I attended elementary, middle & high school with Krystal Glass and Merry Christmas. True story.
I knew a guy called Wayne Kerr when I was a kid. I never made fun of him.
Worst names of people I've met, Femalè from a couple who thought the hospital named her but they system wouldn't accept female as a name, Antichrist older siblings are Jesus/Mary/Satan, Braxton Hicks aka the term for pre labor contractions yes the parents knew, Sarriazieah but pronounced Sarah no answer on why they picked that spelling, Syphilis they just thought the word was pretty, and my personal favorite. Anakin-Joffrery because it's bad especially a double hyphened named
I dated a guy in college named Richard Stains. After we broke up I referred to him as D**k Stains.
I worked with a guy named Nitro. Like the explosive. Cool dude but it just seemed too different
My name's from a book my mother was reading. Hotel Alana I guess? The most unique name I've ever seen, though, was Lavantia. Saw it on a gravestone. It makes me wonder what she was like. Never heard it before that, and it'll probably never become a big name, but it certainly is unique and pretty to me
A nurse told me that a woman, who was quite young, she named her new born twins, and it is spelled as pronounced....orangello and lemongello. That is correct...orange jello and lemon jello!
Found out at my college graduation that there was a guy in my year named Joseph Joseph Joseph III.
In the book "Catch-22," there was an army major named Major Major Major. When the got drafted, he was supposed to be a private, but the army just couldn't help themselves, so they promoted him to just above captain and he became Major Major Major Major.

My mom wanted to name me Tabitha Inez.. my dad filled out the paperwork with Rachel Ann. My initials are RAP but otherwise it's the most dull name ever. And I married an Indian man with 2 last names and a complicated first name 😂 so together I have the most boring name, and he has a very interesting and unique one.
My older sister's name was almost "Buck James," with BJ being her initials. Glad my parents changed it XD I also have a cousin who named their kid Blaydon. And another who named theirs Blaython. One on my mother's side and the other on my father's... I guess horrible names run in my family.
My grandma’s first and middle name and last initial combined at some point to form the nickname Bobdelindebob. Like Bob-de-Lynn-de-Bob. It’s a good thing she told me about it before I ever heard it used because I would have been very confused.
I knew a family where the father was James Sr., and they had four sons named James Jr., Jim, Jimmy, and Jimmy Jr!

At school with a girl called Teresa Green (to be fair, she took her stepfathers name, so was not a plan) I had a tutor with the last name Christmas - his dad was a priest (Father Christmas) my dad claims the vicar of his childhood church was called Neal Down.
Quebec name their babies opposite of what the rest of Canada, and possibly the world does. First every male was named Joseph/female Marie, then your middle name, then your actual name, then your surname. So my name was MMNG. The last letter changed when I got married. Then we changed province and my name became NM instead of MN because the middle name is supposed to follow your name not come before. Trying to explain this to schools for my kids, etc. is not easy. Our daughter didn't have a middle name but our two sons do and they are old names because they belong to their grandfathers and they were forever called by (teachers only not their friends) one of their middle names instead of their actual name.

When the got drafted, he was supposed to be a private, but the army just couldn't help themselves, so they promoted him to just above captain and he became Major Major Major Major.

isn't that a book in the Bible? I'm probably wrong but please don't hate on me I'm not Christian 😅
Load More Replies...My mom worked with two different women named Aquanetta (not at the same job). Aquanet is (or was) a brand of hairspray.
In my family we have Uncle John(60yrs), Little John (40yrs)and Baby John (6yrs)

Load More Replies...Had an ancestor whose middle name was "South", apparently supposed to be a family name. Naming after directions wasn't an invention of the West family.
I have a kid named Aedan but in my defense we had never heard it before.
