I observed clouds like that above my hometown, three years ago. They were stunning and other worldly, definitely not the normal for this arid steppe. I couldn't stop staring...until it started pouring.

I live in Oregon and this was the most bizarre thing I've ever experienced. I know so many people who lost homes. Don't feel to bad for them though, they were second homes. I drove through town with my phone taking video as I narrated for a friend from high school who's overseas. It spooky yo watch them.

A lot of people thought this image was edited, as someone who lived just outside the evac zones and had 2 family member lose their homes to this fire, it really looked like this. And it hurt to breathe outside. It was so scary.
