Many of us deal with anxiety and intrusive thoughts, and people develop different coping mechanisms to live with them. This one, put forward by Tumblr user bulbubsaur, may just be the most hilariously effective method so far.
Dissassociating from intrusive thoughts and experiencing them instead as coming from an annoying or laughable stranger seems to work for many people, the ability to ridicule and laugh the interlopers off gives an element of power and control back to the suffererer. After bulbubsaur shared her method, many others jumped on the thread to tell their own stories and ways of coping with their demons, and it is truly enlightening while darkly funny at the same time.
Of course, if you do suffer from anxiety or any other condition that gives rise to a troublesome inner voice, seek medical and psychological help. But at the same time, learning from the experiences of others is a valuable resource! So scroll down below to see bulbubsaur’s hilarious tip, and check out what people are doing to cope. And it’s all served with a healthy dose of humor thrown into the mix!

One of my friend, not anxious, but badly under depression, started helping neighborhood dog shelter everyday for 2 hour in morning and 1 hour in evening, and just in couple of months there was huge improvement in his condition, he was no longer suicidal, didn't need 24*7 watch, medications reduced and after a year, just turned back into completely normal being. Since then, I always advise people to try and get some animal in their life if they are depressed or anxious or feeling out-caste, specially from a shelter, it boosts up the moral. It might not work for everyone, but it worked in one case at least which I know of, so I have enough faith in animal power, and I believe in it.
@ Ladies and Gentlemen: Any kind of volunteer work can help in this way. And there are always organizations who need help.

hought i would be the only one doing this. 😂 i associate my negative thought into the whisper of Gaea. ( since i love percy Jackson ) so whenever i have negative thought "why are you so ugly" I'll said say the girl who her face constantly being stepped on by billions of people. 😂😂
O mi God, This is the MOST brilliant thing I've ever seen! I have two sons battling mental issues, and I wish I could love on this a zillion times! Brilliant!
For Deadpool fans out there, I like to think I have a yellow bubble and white bubble in my head when I'm about to have an anxiety attack. One of the voices will lead me to focus on reasonable solutions and the other will crack jokes to lighten up the mood. I swear it won't turn you into a crazy merc!.. maybe just crazy.. XD
It ties in to some of Eckhart Tolle's writing, the main idea being: you are NOT your thoughts. Sometimes you must step back, and simply watch the thoughts go by.
I've never really given that voice a name, but I've often had internal conversations with it like this. I felt kind of betrayed when I started feeling my heart race for a panic attack while my rational brain was still engaged. It's like, I was able to recognize what was going on, and calm myself down, and become constructive again. But it was like, "Seriously dude, now you're skipping me entirely and just going straight to the body to screw me over. Not cool, but now that I know you've got a new trick, I'm on to you."
I'm glad that my silly post is actually helping people, of all the kinda trite that I produce on the internet LOL. Little thing though, I actually identify as nonbinary! So instead of "woman", I would prefer "person" :) thank you for the article!
Really glad this of all my posts was the one to take off haha. Though I identify as nonbinary, not a woman!
jk rowling started this, it is called the "Riddikulus"-charm against boggarts
I am so thankful, Guyz! Not only for the tip how to deal with those thoughts. But also for the fact seeing I am not the only one who suffers from this. Thanks! And all the Bests! ❤
I used to be made fun of for being gay but that stopped the day I was shot in the leg and in the shoulder jumping in front of bullets to save a corporal and nearly bled to death by the time medics got their a few years ago in Afghanistan
The Mad Eye Moody one got to me… (as in I had the feeling before you cry) cuz it's awesome idea!
Had experience myself a long period of time of panick attacks. I felt observed and people would find me ugly and fat. I can still be, however I learned to deal with it in a very funny way, and that worked. Most of the times it happened while in a mall buying groceries, so I had this idea to wait before to enter for somebody who did look to me more fat and more ugly, and just follow him, so people would've been looking at him, not at me. Hell that worked. Only problem was sometimes those people felt somebody was following them so I learned quickly to start browsing items even if I was in the tampon aisle.
This is so simple, why haven't i thought of it before? "Evil jax" says "its because you're stupid and everyone hates you" ...F off evil jax im too busy to listen to you! Hmm, this could actually work!
Y'all that thread is so cathartic I literally started crying. I struggle a lot with those thoughts and reading this madr me feel less alone and gave me great ideas!
I still don't 'get' this or understand how this works. I read the entire page and examples twice, thinking I'd missed something important, but I"m still confused here.
People hear negative self talk in their head...in their own voice. If your imagine it in someone else voice, it helps you distance yourself from it. Use a voice of someone that is easy for you to ignore or shut down.

Because to some racism is a one way street that can only be committed by white people.
