32 Times AI Didn’t Understand The Assignment And Created Hilariously Weird Images
Interview With AuthorLove them, hate them, or fear they're gonna steal our jobs, but it looks like generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools are here to stay.
However, these programs still need a bit of refining.
And if you don't believe me, just take a look at the Facebook page 'Weird AI Generations.' It regularly shares the underwhelming results that DALL-E, Midjourney, and other prominent contenders sometimes produce.
From alien-like anatomies to surreal landscapes, their creations can be both fascinating and bizarre at the same time.

We got in touch with the creator of 'Weird AI Generations' and they are very optimistic about the technology's prospects in the coming years.
"I expect AI images to produce even better quality in the future," they told Bored Panda. "In my opinion, they are going to be much more in-depth and more accurate to the request, too."

Some challenges, however, might be ingrained in the technology itself. Ahmed Elgammal, a professor of computer science and director of the Art & AI Lab at Rutgers University, agrees that newer versions of generative AI will give users more control over outputs, along with higher resolutions and better image quality.
However, Elgammal said that "the main limitation, as far as art is concerned, is foundational: it's the process of using language as the main driver in generating the image."

Funnily enough, there was a Swedish fighter jet called SAAB 35 Draken (aka "the Dragon") made in the 60s & 70s. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_35_Draken

"Visual artists, by definition, are visual thinkers," he explained. "When they imagine their work, they usually draw from visual references, not words – a memory, a collection of photographs, or other art they've [already] encountered."
When language is in the driver’s seat of image generation, there might be an extra barrier between the artist and the digital canvas. If pixels are rendered only through the lens of language, artists might have to revamp their creative process, as they will become constrained within the boundaries of semantics.

Half joking and half serious, the creator of the Facebook page also pointed to what seems to be one of generative AI's biggest current problems, stating, "For now, I believe the images would appear much more realistic if they accurately depicted fingers."
Seyedali Mirjalili, director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Optimisation at Torrens University, explained that this is due to the training images, in which hands are often small, holding objects, or partially obscured by other elements.
"It becomes challenging for AI to associate the term 'hand' with the exact representation of a human hand with five fingers," Mirjalili added.

But the researcher thinks it's only a matter of time before the technology will move past this.
"It's important to remember text-to-image and text-to-video conversion is a relatively new concept in AI," he said. "Current generative platforms are 'low-resolution' versions of what we can expect in the future."
"With advancements being made in training processes and AI technology, future AI image generators will likely be much more capable of producing accurate visualizations," he noted.

"So far, coming up with ideas and realizing them through images, even with generative AI, all comes down to how creative you can be," the creator of 'Weird AI Generations' said. "You have all the freedom in the world."
"However, I'm certain that with time, anything you can think of will come to life on screen," they added. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they're right.

AI currently is in nascent stage ; its awkward expression is inevitable , like the first walking steps of an infant . About accused of plagiarism I think AI had created a new thing from incorporating ideas of former things and human order in immature talent . Till ripe time , perfection comes . Even today I had recognized some complicated aspects of artistry AI does much rapider than any humans can . With fast later upgrades , AI would do all magics for humankind .
Load More Replies...Bp cut this s**t out. Nobody like ai images. And the fails are not fun. They are just a waste of everyones time
AI images are only good for shitposting, the kind of stuff made just for a laugh that would never have involved a real artist anyway. AI peaked with the fast food wizards video for Electric Avenue. It will never surpass that.
Load More Replies...Well I thought these were funny enough, and if they are labelled AI, I'm satisfied.
Would be a real shame if someone were to find the servers that house these AI and run a magnet over them.
I don't see where the programmer credits the original artists whose work was used. Isn't this kind of against everything BP used to be?
Hi I’m AveragePanda and I went straight to the comment section to b***h about an article that I clicked on.
I mean, most of these are kinda stupid, tbh. That being said, not all AI art is bad. And not all of it is "plagarism", or stealing other people's art. I have seen some really lovely flower designs, and some great illustrations that are more "influenced" than directly stolen.
Is there any kind of credit provided to the original artist for when these images ugly AI generated images are vomited out? No? Then it is stealing other peoples art, and committing plagiarism.
Load More Replies...I bet some of these were created on purpose and turned out exactly the way the person intended too 😂. I wonder what plattforms they use?
