Jennifer Aniston’s Sincere Post About The Need To Wear A Face Mask Gets 5 Million Likes In 10 Hours

Beloved actress Jennifer Aniston urged her fans and everyone else to wear masks in order to protect their own health and the lives of others. The 51-year-old Hollywood star, whose performance as Rachel Green on the hit TV show Friends plenty of people still watch every morning with their cereal, explained that she knows that we can all do our part to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The actress’ Instagram post got nearly 5 million likes within 9 hours of being shared online. What’s more, over 57k people commented on the photo of the actress wearing a black face mask. According to Aniston, something that can save people’s lives shouldn’t be politicized and that people should just #WearADamnMask.

Bored Panda spoke about Aniston’s post with Hollywood’s Ultimate Insider and celebrity expert Mike Sington. Here’s what he said: “I commend Jennifer Aniston for taking a stand and urging her massive following to wear face masks. The more high-profile individuals that do so, the more skeptics that might come on board.” Scroll down for the rest of our interview with Mike.

“It’s such an easy and simple thing to do for public health and safety. It seems all Hollywood stars are wearing masks in public, young people are seeing this and are especially likely to follow their lead,” Mike shared the impact that high-profile celebs have on society.

In Mike’s opinion, Aniston was being sincere in her post. “Jennifer Aniston is known for her sincerity and being genuine—part of the reason her likability factor is so high. It’s hard to get much more popular than Jennifer Aniston, she doesn’t need to do PR stunts for publicity. I think she honestly cares about the health and safety of her fans, and the public in general.”

We also wanted to get Mike’s take on why wearing a mask has become a political issue in the US. He shared his opinion: “Wearing a face mask in the US is strictly a political issue, and it’s all because of Donald Trump. Trump refuses to wear a mask, so that alone prompts his followers to do the same. Trump’s alone now, though. The Vice President and Republican Senators are now all urging mask-wearing in public. Full compliance, unfortunately, will never come about unless the President changes his behavior.”

The number of new US coronavirus cases has risen by 80% in the last 2 weeks

Aniston’s post couldn’t come at a better time. The continuing spread of Covid-19 throughout the US has paused the loosening of lockdown regulations in some states. Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the US’ top infectious disease expert, said that the resurgence of the coronavirus in the South and West “puts the entire country at risk.” New cases are trending upwards in at least 36 states.

This means that simple things like wearing a mask in a public place, social distancing, and good hygiene are still as important as ever.

Over 48k new cases of people infected with the coronavirus were confirmed on Tuesday, June 30. This is the highest number of new infections during the pandemic in the US so far. Eight US states, including California, Georgia, and Texas, also announced single-day highs.

Dr. Fauci warned Congress that at this rate, the number of daily infections could more than double to 100k if no steps are taken. Meanwhile, The New York Times reports that, according to one of its databases, the number of new Covid-19 cases in the US has risen by 80 percent in the past 2 weeks.

Sad how this whole thing started out as a virus, then mutated into an IQ test.

Respect for what she is doing. Because she has an exemplary role. Same as your president, who’s neglecting it. Not only by wearing a facemask but also with social distancing. Some other food for thought: ever wondered how it can be that (while the outbreak of the virus was almost simultaneously) over here in Europe most countries have it under control, while the USA suffers with increasing numbers? Maybe is has to do with a basic thought of democracy. Thinking and actin in a sense of WE, instead of I.
