A couple of years ago, my brother and I were sleeping over at a friend’s house (our parents were there too of course). Down the street was a family that was selling some puppies.

We had convinced our mother to buy one, so we were saving money and planning.

We were supposed to get a white dog and name it Bonnie, but sadly it died of a seizure before we could get it.

So instead we got a black one and named it Clyde, and he was adorable. On the way home, (we didn’t have a car, so we were walking), it started pouring rain. I gave up my hoodie so the dog would stay warm. We cared for him with all of our hearts.

We found out a week later what was really happening in that house.

The family had 24 dogs in there. All of them were starving, dehydrated and abused. They were running a breeding farm. There was dog feces everywhere, and there were 5 dead dogs, (including Bonnie) in the back room.

The police arrested the family for animal abuse and for a meth lab they had in the basement, as well as child neglect. They had 3 kids, and they were being treated just like the dogs.

We got Clyde out of there just in time. We don’t have Clyde anymore. When my mom and her boyfriend broke up, he took Clyde. I loved that dog, but sadly we couldn’t keep him.

At least he got a good life. The kids and the dogs all found caring homes.
