Walmart is a strange alternate universe where no matter what time of the day you go, you are bound to hear some odd conversations or see people engaging in some weird activities. Apparently, the absurdity of this superstore is not just restricted to the indoors. Walmart shopper Scott Hann, was pulling into the parking lot when he noticed adult Canadian goose that didn’t seem to be paying any mind to the cars whizzing by.

Well as it turns out the bird couldn’t move, because she was protecting something even more precious than her own life – her eggs. Hann shared with Facebook that he thought about calling Animal Control but let her be. Fortunately, he was not the only human looking out for the goose and her babies.

“On Sunday, April 14, 2019, I pulled into Walmart looking for a parking space. Blocking the road was an adult Canadian goose who was reluctant to move for a passing car. At first, I wondered if it was sick or injured because of its nonchalance to danger.”

“After shopping, I passed through that thoroughfare again to see if the goose was still meandering around. It was. I parked the car and took a closer look. On an island, surrounded by a flimsy, orange tape fence, was another goose comfortably seated on a nest of hay. It hissed at me.”

“Then I realized it was a female laying or incubating her eggs, and the other was her mate watching over her. I returned to the first goose who hissed, spread its wings and moved aggressively toward me, clearly protecting its future brood. I considered calling Animal Control to remove them for their safety.”

“A few days later, I returned to Walmart and was astonished by what I saw. The kind-hearted employees placed traffic cones, on either side, of the thoroughfare to allow the guardian to protect his family in safety, diverting traffic through the parking spaces.”

These are "Canada Geese". Calling them "Canadian Goose" implies a Canadian nationality. If they were Canadian visitors, they would not be hanging out in NJ, they'd be in New York seeing the sights.

Bless them! The manager at that Walmart must be a very good person, not typical of the corporation as a whole. Bobbi N. is right about how they treat their employees. The mother of a friend of mine once worked at a Walmart in the fabric / sewing department. She told me her Mom and all other employees had to mop the floors, etc. after closing time because Walmart was too cheap to hire janitors.
