Do you ever catch yourself wondering who the people behind various commercial, animated TV show, and service voice-overs are? When you think about it, there are tons of different voices we know so well, yet we have no idea what these people look like or who they are. The more you think about it, the weirder it starts to seem.
Do you know who is behind the famous voice of Apple's Siri? Or who gave their voice to minions from Despicable Me? Bored Panda invites you to scroll down and find out who the people behind some of the most well-known voices from commercials, TV shows, and services are.

Siri—Susan Bennett
Did they just have her sit there for like ever and say words then they just combine them together into the answer 😮😧
Bugs Bunny—Mel Blanc
In January, 1961, Mel Blanc was in a near-fatal car crash. He was in a coma for two weeks and was unresponsive. About two weeks after the accident, one of Blanc's neurologists tried a different approach than just trying to address Blanc himself: address his characters. Blanc was asked, "How are you feeling today, Bugs Bunny?" After a slight pause, Blanc answered, in a weak voice, "Eh... just fine, Doc. How are you?" The doctor then asked Tweety if he was there, too. "I tawt I taw a puddy tat," was the reply.
Mel was known as "The Man of a Thousand Voices". ...then along came Frank. Frank WELKER. The Man of 10 Thousand Voices. --- Still, Mel Blanc and June Foray were the pioneers who set the "quality and sheer number" bar for all other voice actors.
Also, everything I have read about Mel says that he was a wonderful human being, and had a stand-up comic's talent for humor and witty remarks. A real mensch.
Load More Replies...Almost every Warner Bros. cartoon character. Elmer Fudd was voiced by Arthur Q Bryan and Daws Butler, Billy Bletcher and Stan Freberg also lent a hand at times.
Load More Replies...Bart Simpson—Nancy Cartwright
There's an adorable video once where Nancy was buying chocolate for a young man and he had no idea that she was the actual voice actress for Bart Simpson.
Just watched it on YT. So heartwarming. Thank you! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_swo3LJo6MY&ab_channel=NancyCartwright
Load More Replies...If you can find it, there is an episode of “Inside the Actors Studio” that was hosted by the late James Lipton, where he had the entire voice actor cast of The Simpson on the show, side by side. It is worthwhile trying to track down, if you can. NBC Universal own the rights and they keep squashing it every time it shows up on YouTube, but you might get lucky.
She auditioned for South Park and walked out. Mary Kay Bergman got the roll of female characters for the first few seasons.
You can watch Nancy Cartwright's character die, from being eaten by a cartoon, in Twilight Zone: The Movie.
I knew a girl in school who looked almost like her and could do the (english/original) voice, too ... and the german one, too ... she generally was pretty obsessed with the Simpsons, which I found a bit weird, but what isn't weird, usually is no good anyway. She was cool. Hope she still is...
Geico Gecko—Jake Wood
Winnie The Pooh And Tigger—Jim Cummings
Tigger was my favourite he was like Goofy from Mickey Mouse
Load More Replies...I always learn stuff on bored panda! I remember Sterling Holloway and Paul Winchell but didn’t know this guy!
Jim Cummings is amazing. He has voiced tons of memorable cartoon characters for years.
Load More Replies...Jim Cummings SO good they got him to hit the high notes for Scar and Rasputin. Listen to their villain songs, you can hear where Jim takes over. This guy needs a Hollywood star at this point.
From what I’m aware of, Cummings took over for Jeromy Irons as Scar in “Be Prepared” after the line “You won’t get a sniff without me!” The rest of the song is Cummings and I still can’t tell the difference. Cummings was the singing voice for Rasputin in Anastasia. Again, absolutely flawless there to the point where most people don’t realize that it’s him singing “In the Dark of the Night”
Load More Replies...Scooby-Doo—Frank Welker
Frank Welker voices tons of cartoon characters. He's the current voice of Scooby Doo ever since Don Messick, the original voice actor for him passed away. He also voices Fred from Scooby Doo.
Frank Welker is a goddamn voice acting GOD. He puts Mel Blanc to shame. ...no offense to Mel.
A few is right. That's like 0.000001% of his voices, especially if you also include the non-speaking roles.
Load More Replies...He does the voices or sounds in many, many movies, even the wolves in Beauty and the Beast.
There's a classic clip on youtube of him growling into a garbage can for "The Lion King" to make lion noises. It's hilarious and impressive.
Load More Replies...He does so many great character voices, but I always think of him as Fred from Scooby Doo - his definitive role in my opinion. He IS Fred. :-D
The funny part is that when I was in college I was looking at the Real Ghost Busters series, it suddenly dawned on me that Ray was voiced by Frank Welker because I clearly heard Fred from Scooby Doo. 🤣
Load More Replies...This man is in just about everything, and we barely know it. Incredible talent!
Minions—Pierre Coffin
Not quite all of them. In the first two movies, Chris Renauld also voiced some of the minions. He voiced one of them, Dave, in the first movie, and some of the others in the second one. Also in the first one, Jerry, one of the Minions was voiced by Jemaine Clemant. Jerry was my favorite in that one.
Load More Replies...It actually sounds awesome, because you basically have a blatant excuse to scream, burp, and speak Gibberish into a microphone.
Load More Replies...Voicemail Lady—Jane Barbe
This is cool. Didn't BP have an article about a woman who's husband passed, but he made a recording for the metro and she would go to hear him? Then they changed the recording, and finding out how much it meant, sent a tape to the widow? That was sweet.
I think you're referring to this, I remember it too! You can find it here: https://www.boredpanda.com/london-underground-dead-husband-announcements-voice-story/ The women's husband recorded the "mind the gap" audio for the trains, but then they changed it. She was distressed because her husband had died years ago and that was the only place she could hear his voice. When the station found out, they found the voice recording again and they play it in the station the woman uses to go to work, so she can still hear him.
Load More Replies...How many times have her words been followed by "Dave you muppet! Get your fat a*s down the pub right now! 'Ave it, you slag!"?
Tony The Tiger—Thurl Ravenscroft
Even his name is wonderful...it sounds like a brooding estate master in a bodice-ripper.
Thurl also sang the songs for "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Boris Karloff was the regular narrator, but THURL sang the songs. He was also a prolific background singer and narrator for Disney music and Disney rides, respectively.
Then there's me...Richard Wells voice of PEGI 3, 7,12, and most famous of all....PEGI 18 r087-Richa...8b4147.jpg
Hump Day Camel—Chris Sullivan
Philip J. Fry—Billy West
He voiced tons of other characters on Futurama including but not limited to professor and crab doctor (forgot his name)
Billy's voicing of Zapp Brannigan in "Futurama" was as a tribute to Phil Hartman, who was the original choice for the character, until Phil was killed by his wife before recording could start.
Perry The Platypus—Dee Bradley Baker
Perry the Platypus doesn’t speak (as Agent P), so you mean he recorded exactly one flblblbprrrrrrr sound effect for when Perry is in Platypus mode?
Yes, he did! There's a video from ComicCon where he does that.
Load More Replies...Bubbles—Tara Strong
Wtf? I thought this was the original, f**k the reboot
Load More Replies...she's also raven from teen titans and timmy turner, just to name a few
My favorite voices from Tara Strong are both Toot (Betty Boop knockoff) and Princess Clara (Disney Princess knockoff) from the Comedy Central series "Drawn Together". Offensive, sick, insulting, humiliating....and still shockingly funny, even 15 years later. I f***ing love that show. 2-04-Capta...e32ee5.jpg
Mario—Charles Martinet
Charles has voiced Mario since 1995. And his narration of the "High Score" documentary series is top-notch!
He also voices Waluigi, and I've seen pictures of him doing the voice. It's probably the most scared I've ever seen someone look.
Ludwig Von Drake—Paul Frees
And about a thousand others! Go to the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland and he's still there!
You can also see Paul in George Pal's version of War of the Worlds. Brief scene as a reporter just before an A-bomb is dropped.
Load More Replies...He was SO MANY voices in the 1950s to 1970s... Paul also dubbed Italian actor Gian Maria Valonte, for the roles of "Ramon Rojo" and "El Indio" in the Clint Eastwood "Dollars Trilogy". Once you hear Paul's voice in "Fistful" and "Few Dollars", you can't UN-hear it.
Not sure which version of KARR was better; his from KITT VS KARR or Peter Cullen's from Trust Doesn't Rust.
The Home Depot Commercial—Josh Lucas
Not sure what it is about home improvement stores but both they and Lowe's have music that's far too intense for what they're selling.
Load More Replies...Not lately. It's Eric "yoga pants" Garcetti and for that reason alone, I now go to Lowe's.
Ha ha! It's funny because he wore yoga pants or something similar. Also, Obama wore a tan suit that one time. Man, Democrats are bad at fashion, am I right? Knocking someone's sartorial choices is *just* a step above mocking them for typos when it comes to lame ways of attacking people whose positions/politics/lifestyle/whatever you dislike.
Load More Replies...Ugh, who cares? Does that make you a Trump supporter just because you need a ladder and a lamp? No, it doesn't. I don't support that idiot either, but he's not stopping me from shopping wherever I want. We're better than that, aren't we?
Load More Replies...Kool-Aid Man—Frank Simms
Tommy Pickles—Elizabeth Daily
If you've seen Better Off Dead, she was the singer at the school dance.
Load More Replies...She's also in the movie Dutch with Ed O'Neil! She's the one who accidentally squirts lotion in his mouth while trying to steal his ring in the car!
Didn't she also play Phoebe's old friend in "Friends" who wrote jingles, stole smelly cat from her and sold it to a kitty litter company?
Aflac Duck—Daniel Mckeague
The duck was originally voiced by Gilbert Gottfried until he got fired from it for an inappropriate remark.
Internet Service Provider America Online—Elwood Edwards
I was on AOL when I fierst went online. I turned on the computer and AOL said "You've got mail." Beind somewhat new to this business of internet, I thought AOL was talking about the postman mail, so I went upstairs to check the mailbox. No mail. I camd back downstairs and gave the computer a dirty look and told it that it had no damn idea what it was talking about.
Load More Replies...For the British version, the voice telling you that you had mail was Joanna Lumley.
Pillsbury Doughboy—Jobe Cerny
All tummies are pokeable, it's just a question of how the poked person reacts afterwards.
Load More Replies...The "In A World Where" Voiceovers From Movie Trailers—Redd Pepper And Don Lafontaine
Haha he did that meta insurance commercial. "In a world where both of our cars are completely underwater"
That one is awesome! For me, it's second only to the Burt Bacharach one. "Lizard licks his eyeball."
Load More Replies...Anybody else think for a split second that Redd Pepper's photo was actually a photoshopped RuPaul?
That man's teeth got me revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.
It would be so odd to meet these men in person and have a normal conversation! Odd in a cool way.
Progressive Box—Chris Parnell
The Progressive Box? Not Cyril from "Archer", Jerry from "Rick and Morty", or even some of his guest characters??
Don't forget the best character in Rick and Morty. God I loved him in Hot Rod. We quote his parts ALL the time. "It's Ebenezer Scrooge!!!"
One of them, yes. Geoffery Hoytsman, the boss of his former girlfriend Sophia Pérez (Eva Longoria), who was Jake's final girlfriend before Amy. Hereth endeth your daily B99 lesson.
Load More Replies...Cyril from Archer! So that's what he really looks like! Not far off actually!
Germany does voiceovers for every foreign movie and every actor has his own German voice. We know foreign actors by their German voices. I was baffled as a kid when I realised not every country does this. In Poland they use one voice for the whole movie. That's very confusing. I always liked how Germany does it, but it has it's downs too. For example: often they translate everything, so when there are originally multiple languages used, in Germany they all speak German. Jokes can get lost too.
In Denmark we use subtitles. Unless it's a childrens movie. Never understood the need to replace the original actors' voices.
Load More Replies...If you like this post, watch "I Know That Voice". Great film by the voice of Bender!
No mention of tom kane..the voice of yoda, the academy awards, the professor from the powerpuff girls..the man is a legend
The only true voice of Yoda is Frank Oz. Real fans know this.
Load More Replies...What about Tom Kenny, voice of SpongeBob? He also played (in addition to tons of other voice over roles) an evil clown in Bobcat Goldthwait's 1991 alcoholic clown comedy, Shakes the Clown!
