30 Controversial Movie And TV Show Villains People In This Online Group Just Can’t Hate
A character can’t become a hero if there is no villain he has to fight and win against. Villains are as important to the story as the hero, even though we often hate them, but without them, it wouldn’t be as interesting to watch a movie or read a book.
Even though we are supposed to hate the villains as they are being evil and causing chaos, sometimes they are also relatable and showing emotions that we also experience but suppress. A person on Reddit, Rito_Harem_King wanted to know specific villains that people can’t force themselves to hate and more than 25k people joined the conversation.
We would like to know if a villain that you can’t hate is in this list and if not, fel free to mention them in the comments! Also, don’t forget to upvote the ones that you agree with!

Wiley Coyote. I'm rooting for him to blow the Road Runner up.

Yzma and Kronk.

Kronk, I agree 100%. Yzma was charismatic, sure, but still definitely needed to be defeated/turned into a cat because she was mean to Kronk about his spinach puffs.
Hades in the animated Hercules movie. Huge POS, but f**k if he wasn’t entertaining.

Was going to be my answer, as well. Epically when you dig into his and Charles’ past and how they used to be besties, still gets me :(
Hela from Thor: Ragnorak
You're brought up to be your fathers champion as yall conquer the realms only for him to have a change of heart and lock you up. As if that's not bad enough, you're erased from the history of the empire you helped create.

The Grinch

He wouldn't be so grumpy if there wasn't a dude singing songs, every 5 minutes, about what a piece of s**t he is.
Prince Zuko
I took one look at this kid, and said to myself: "Okay, Zuko. You're going to get me through this show." And he did!
Gollum. Not his fault he got caught up in all this demi-gods magical world domination malarkey, he just went fishing...
Hannibal Lecter. He ate rude people. I'm fine with that.
I have got a list of rude people for him that would make him fatter than Jabba the Hutt if he decided to go for it. He'd never go hungry again.

Especially in BTAS and the Arkham games. Dude just wants his wife to live a long life.
Plankton
You can’t hate my man bowser. Dude has 8 kids, legit go karts and plays sports with Mario and his kids. He’s looking out for his kids by kidnapping Peach so they can have a mom lol
I always joke, it’s cos he wants peach to be a good mum, instead of frolicking about between bowser, toad and Mario 😂 you have 8 babies peach, stop leaving bowser to deal with it all
Vlad Dracula Tepes in the 2017 Castlevania series. Humanity sucks.
Late to the party as per usual but I need to check this out.
The Ice King. It's just a tragic backstory. He's just lonely and desperate for friends.
Davy Jones
Davy Jones is just a guy! Trying to be a pirate! Who’s heart got broken by his goddess girlfriend! All the boi needs is a hug!
GLaDOS. She is just so crazy and hilarious you forget she enjoys gassing innocents
Darth Maul of course. Poor guy might've been dangerous and had evil scattered throughout his career, but you have to remember he was just a pawn of Sidious. He realized this too late and tried to even tell others but nope. At least he passed an honorable death against Kenobi.
Strongly disagree with this one. He was a p**n in the beginning, but once he was free of Sidious' control, he continued to use his powers for evil. He murdered the Queen of Mandalore just so he could draw Obi-Wan into a trap. Later on he became the head of the Crimson Dawn criminal empire, and thus responsible for the usual criminal enterprises such as gun running, drug smuggling, prostitution, traffiking and the like. He had no redeeming qualities right up until his death.
Gargamel. Look, if I was a grumpy old warlock and a bunch of little f**kin’ gnome people sang their songs about love and peace when I just wanted QUIET, I’m just saying, they probably taste like blueberries.
Gargamel also would take his anger out on his cat though. The real reason I feel sorry for him is because he's in a dead end position. He failed wizarding school, his mother is awful. He spends most of his life trying to catch Smurfs for either food or gold--most of the time it was to turn them into gold, which is an impossible task he'll never succeed at and later on, he gets saddled with an apprentice he doesn't want who's basically in the same boat as him--he was kicked out of wizard school.
The dude from Law Abiding Citizen. He was the goddamn protagonist and the writers didnt have the balls to see his story through
100% agree with this. The writers copped out of the ending this movie deserved at the last moment. I think if it had been made today the ending would have been made right, but we'll never know. I like the idea of Jamie Fox's tie being a "special" tie at the end recital like some people have said, but that's just hopeful thinking.
Sandman.
King Dice from The Cuphead Show. I mean who could hate a man who rocks a purple suit, is an incredible smooth talker, and has an amazing singing voice.
Ranger Smith--you know, the guy who's always chasing after Yogi. As a kid, you think of him as this mean ranger who won't let Yogi have any picnic baskets. As an adult, you realize that poor guy is just trying to keep the park in order and this one bear keeps breaking all the rules. I also really felt sorry for Reginald Bushroot from Darkwing Duck. He's really not evil, but he is lonely and misunderstood and sometimes does do some things I really can't condone him for, such as trying to turn an unrequited loved interest into a plant creature, or basically getting revenge on his colleagues and the dean at St. Canard (even though, quite frankly, they all deserved it.). Also, Darkwing Duck views him entirely in black and white terms of morality when he himself isn't entirely perfect himself. (Although in one of the more recent comics, he actually teamed up with him and sympathized with him, something I've always wanted him to do.)
