“View From Your Window”: People From Around The World Snap What They See Through Their Window
Ever since the dawn of art, painters were mesmerized by the idea of gazing at the view from one’s window. Salvador Dali's famous painting called “Young Woman at a Window” from 1925, which shows a woman looking at the bay of Cadaqués, is one of the examples.
The Facebook group “View From Your Window” takes this concept further and invites people to share pictures of things they see either through their camera lens or an actual window.
“View from YOUR window was created in August 2020 when we were all in Covid lockdown. I (Marian Viljoen - founder) had a fabulous view over the Indian Ocean and Mtamvuna River Valley at Port Edward, South Africa,” the group’s description says.
Initially, the group was created with the creator’s family and friends in mind in order “to encourage them to look outside their own 4 walls and see the beauty around them” but has since grown immensely and become a strong community stretching through all the corners of the world.
Below we wrapped up some of the most interesting and inspiring views people saw through their windows and shared with others.

Leaving An Abusive Marriage After Almost 20 Years. This Is The View From My New Apartment’s Bedroom Window
It’s not the most beautiful view but it’s all mine and I am finally starting to feel free!
Fall River, Massachusetts USA
You are courageous and strong! I am so proud to hear of people that can get this far, because this is the hardest step! Once you get a new view like this one, it reminds you that there are better things out there in the world and that you not only can achieve them, but you DESERVE them! Congratulations on this amazing new chapter in your life and your fantastic view! P.S. I think a bird feeder would look fabulous on that branch!
I am so very happy for you finding your strength. I was also in an abusive marriage so I know it’s hard. Congratulations!!!!!
It's absolutely beautiful! I remember being crouched down in an abandoned building, praying my ex wouldn't find me, just so I could plan how to leave permanently. When I finally did, it wasn't of my own volition; I ended up in ICU with tubes in my chest from double pneumonia. I was so wrecked that I didn't even realize how sick I was. He left me there, moved another girl into our home and took everything from me. Then accused me of cheating on him because I had to have 3 blood transfusions (he swore that meant I was trying to "clean my blood"- he wasn't the smartest guy). I literally lost everything- my home, my car (turned out the papers I signed weren't legit and I was stupid for not checking; "we" bought a car from someone he worked with and he took it & gave it to new girl), and then lost my job bc they couldn't keep the position open for me (Drs wouldn't release me for two months due to my health). 11 yrs later- my life is more than I ever imagined it could be (cont)
I eventually met someone who used "kid gloves" with me, helped me gain my confidence back and actually show me what it's like (again) to be a normal, content person. I'm happy. Like, really really happy. I have a beautiful home in central Austin, I work in healthcare again, I have a nice car, my sons are happy and know that they're always welcome and they never have to walk on eggshells (their dad was instrumental in helping me get away from that loser, too. He's the one who alerted my brother to the bruising that my sons saw, that I was SURE they couldn't see- he made sure the bruises were always in areas not visible usually). I was only with that person for a year and a half, but it was the worst time in my life. Years later, I still can't believe what I allowed to be put through. And yeah, I allowed it because I was terrified of him. Now? If I ever see him again, I think I'd just laugh at him. His downfall was alcohol and narcissism. Oh, and karma got him GOOD.

From firsthand experience, Norway has some of the most relaxing scenery I’ve ever seen.
If you’re familiar with the art of Edward Hopper, you’ll definitely remember his paintings that show a lone woman looking out the window. She sits either in a hotel room, on a bed, or at a café, with her gaze reaching far beyond the glass and miles away.
It's no wonder that Hopper chose to depict a woman gazing through the window, just like many other painters who were fascinated by the same state of introspection. Looking out the window has been long known as an exercise that brings us into a state of reflection and deep introspection.
In our fast-paced world, looking out the window becomes a form of daydreaming which is capable of slowing down time.
View From My Window!! Pakistan
For some reason, I have pictured Pakistan to be a rocky dessert landscape. I believe I am confusing it with Afghanistan. I am horrible at geography and knowing where things are (I once though Colorado was North of North Dakota) I am really happy to learn how beautiful Pakistan is.
Pakistan has that too! The desert-like terrain can mainly be found in the Balochistan province, which is sparsely populated except the city of Quetta.

Funny, in Australia these seem to be common outside birds. In America that's about 25 or 30k sitting on a porch.

“Introversion is a personality trait which is characterized by a preference for the inner world of one's mind over the outer world with other people,” Emily Malamet, a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist from Paris Psychology Centre, told Bored Panda via email.
Malamet explained that introversion is one of the Big Five dimensions (these are dimensions that define personalities) and is on a continuum which is opposite to extraversion.
“In comparison to extroverts, introverts enjoy subdued and solitary experiences. In addition, introverts typically enjoy one on one company, which seems to be more suited to the way their nervous system functions/ responds.”

Had To Share This Beautiful Sunrise From My Kitchen Window This Morning In Bonnie Scotland
Seriously, No Privacy
My mom was reading next to the window one day and she hears knocking. Turns around and there's this squirrel I had been giving nuts to, angrily trying to get her attention because the nuts were not coming fast enough that day 😂 He was quite the caracter and would cartwheel on the screen of the kitchen door to get my attention when he saw I was in there.
Having said that, Malamet believes that the common understanding of introverts and extroverts is often oversimplified and generalized.
“It is possible that there is often a misunderstanding of what introversion and extraversion are in terms of personality which leads to these oversimplifications or categorial perspectives of these concepts. Most people are neither uniquely introverted nor uniquely extroverted but may display aspects of both personality traits.”

Load More Replies...Those clouds and the clouds in the water are spectacular the color is so pretty.
Malamet argues that the majority of the population, for example, needs solitude from time to time in order to replenish their energy. “In addition, often an introvert is often overgeneralized for someone who is shy, but there aren’t many resemblances between introversion and shyness.”
Moreover, “those who are shy typically want to engage with others but can be fearful to do so, and they can be very self-conscious. On the other hand, introverts can typically socialize easily, they just prefer to do so either in small groups or, sometimes, not at all.”

I miss those sights like you cannot imagine. I wasn't born in Antioquia but it's where my father was born, and where he lived his last years so I went there many times. Rionegro and surrounding areas always bring fond memories because of that.
If you climb those mountains to the other side, you'll find the town from Encanto.
That town would have to be several kms away to the south since wax palm trees, our national tree, are depcited there and they only grow in the region of Quindío. The climate here would be too hot for those palm threes too.

We are all born with an innate temperament, and parents/our environment are vitally important to how that temperament is nurtured, Malamet argues.
“However, introverts are (mostly) born that way. It is important to note that the degree to which someone is introverted or extroverted is influenced by genetics and out of all the personality traits that have been studied, introversion/extroversion has shown to be highly hereditary,” she explained.

Nonetheless, there are many environmental factors, including how an individual is brought up and nurtured in their environment, which influence the expression of one’s introversion/extraversion.
“Clinical studies suggest that, unlike with extroverts, the brains of introverts do not react strongly upon viewing new human faces, and in these situations, they have been shown to produce less dopamine (which is a neurotransmitter associated with reward).”

I would love to live there, because I love the cold and the snow and I hate hot summer days
I live in North Sweden. Many degrees under freezing and a lot of snow. It's expensive to keep my apartment warm. Love winter as it's only light around 4 hours out of 24 but as it goes towards summer it never really gets dark. Even 2am looks like it's day. Omg, I've been there! Maybe not the same place, but on top of the hills in Waitomo in a Heidi house (an a-frame cabin). I thought I was in heaven. And there were glow worms in little caves all over the property, and tame sheep. It is the best place I've ever stayed. Mountains rolling on forever, most over the valleys.

Sad OP knew there would be negative comments because their dog was outside. OP literally took a picture of what was outside their window. Dog may have just returned from doing its business or what not. Dog is clearly not being neglected in the photo but that's the society we live in nowadays. Certain people trying to take the beauty out of every thing. OP took a gorgeous photo and the dog is adorable :)
That's a "come out and play with me" pose! Beautiful dog, and beautiful view
Looks like he wants to be inside with you! Don't have a dog if he's just going to be a part-time family member.
It does note he usually has a door open to come and go as he pleases. Plus, some people will let their dogs out into their fenced yard for potty time, for a short time, and let the dogs tell them when they are ready to come back in. This dog is likely just communicating it's that time and its hooman pets just decided to take a photo first, with it not being as cold as it seems.

Exploring the profound link between solitude and creativity often brings to light fascinating parallels. While scenic views from windows allow for introspection and reflection, the concept of finding comfort in solitude resonates deeply with the sensibilities of those who identify as introverts. It’s similar to understanding how introverted individuals experience life in the small, often awkward social interactions, like those humorously portrayed in Finnish Nightmares.
Viewing these social subtleties from a place of humor can bridge understanding between introversion and the art of introspection.

I was a young divorcee at 35 years of age and searched everywhere for a place to call my own, when I actually dreamed of this view one morning and walked into the house two days later. Back then I had to drive two hours to the international airport about once a week to work as a long haul flight attendant. Then after three or four or five days away, I drove the two hours to get home to the country where I could be on my own in the peace and the quiet. My two cats would always be waiting for me on the top of the driveway no matter what hours I came home. Over time, I learned to love my solitude and to love me exactly as I am.

That is exactly what I expected Poland to look like. You have to admire the genius of the engineer who invented the hyperbolic cooling tower.
Yeah, yeah, we were jealous the first time you shared, gerard ;-) Seriously, that is an awesome old-world view right there.

How is that everybody live on the beach, the meddows or in the middle of a freaking forest? Where are all the urban views? The parking lots, the 7/11s, the wall of the neighboring building, which is at an arm's lenght from your window?
The disadvantage of living in a shithole is that you can't really show off.
Load More Replies...The view from my window was a crackhead shouting profanities and then pulling his pants down to get rid of his underwear. There was also a lovely tree, though.
If you enjoy being a virtual Peeping Tom, do NOT miss this place (shows video-views instead of still pics, I just watched a snowball fight in Turkey, really sweet views): https://www.window-swap.com/
I just tried that site out now I'm sat watching a cat staring out of a window...
