In recent years, 16-year-old Robert Irwin has become more and more of a spitting image of his late father Steven. Apparently, Robert is following his animal-loving dad’s footsteps and is starring in his own animal documentary series.

And this Saturday, Robert once again proved his likeness to the famous crocodile hunter, which not only comes in looks, as he shared nearly identical footage of him being bitten by a snake. While filming his docuseries Crickey! It’s The Irwins, the 16-year-old was handling a carpet python when suddenly events took an unexpected turn.

“Are you going to be grumpy or are you going to be nice?” Robert was filmed asking the snake as he took it out of the safety bag. “It’s alright, you’re going to go back home. There you go, buddy. There’s a good snake. Aren’t they just the coolest? I love carpet pythons. That is a good size carpet python. That’s so cool. I gotta tell you, when I first found this guy…” he continued until he was suddenly cut off as the python snapped towards his face.

The son of the crocodile hunter looked eerily similar to his late dad

The shared video then cuts to the footage of Robert’s father Steve Irwin holding a snake on his own show, The Crocodile Hunter. In almost identical fashion, the snake lunged towards Steve’s face, to which the hunter reacted with a laconic “son of a gun” before continuing as if nothing happened.

And he shared a side-by-side comparison of both father and son smiling with bloody wounds on their faces

On his Instagram, Robert shared a side-by-side comparison of him and his father smiling at the camera with bloody wounds on their faces.

Steve Irwin tragically died back in 2006, when he was stung in the chest by a stingray barb while filming one of his wildlife documentaries.
