Nobody said being vegan is easy; it takes a certain level of self-control and preparation to live up to your ideals. One accusation that is often leveled at vegans is the way veganism converts eulogize about the benefits of their dietary choice, while most of the time scolding others for their 'unorthodox' meat-eating decisions. While it usually comes from the right place, wanting others to feel as good about themselves as the vegans do, it can be a bit grating for meat or dairy eaters who just aren't interested in the whole vegan diet thing.

Surely there's a more natural way to spread the message of vegan food goodness? One that's unpretentious, self-deprecating and easily digested? Why yes, vegan memes of course! We here at Bored Panda have collected the best memes that vegans can seriously relate to, and maybe even pass on a few to their friends who don't get it yet. Scroll down below to check them out for yourself, and don't forget to vote for your favorites!

I've always wondered, though. How do they get milk out of almonds, coconuts and soy beans? (Here in Hong Kong soy milk in plastic bottles are as common of a drink as coke, maybe more, and I don't even know where they get it from.)

I'm pretty sure they mean like "vegan meals". If someone says "I've never had Chinese food", you don't go like "You've never had RICE!?"

Here's the thing though, we're not going to give up meat because we had one vegan dish.

I baked a vegan cake and purposely didn't tell anyone it was, people raved over it until I said it was vegan and suddenly people were stunned. Like meat eaters see 'vegan' and make themselves not like it or want to try it on purpose. Which is what this meme is more trying to show I think

I dislike SOME vegans simply because they get all preachy and then I have to slap them with a juicy ribeye and tell them I DON'T CARE! It's no different than obnoxious, pushy Christians (and I'M A CHRISTIAN), or jewelry salespeople. Anymore I have to walk around with a juicy ribeye at all times because such encounters occur too frequently. "God loves.." *SLAP*, "Gluten fr..." *SLAP*, "Look at my beautiful kid.." *SLAP*, "Excuse me sir you can't" *SLAP*...s**t

You do realise you sound really obnoxious? And that's coming from someone who isn't even vegetarian.

I’m a meat eater but will happily eat vegan and vegetarian dishes. Shouldn’t have such a daft stigma (veganism)

Plants aren't vegan. Vegetarians aka herbivores nor omnivores eat processed goop

Plants aren't vegan. We wouldn't eat vegan as neither vegetarians aka herbivores nor omnivores eat processed goop made with chemicals and labeled "plant based"

I'm not vegan or even vegetarian. But I am trying to reduce my impact on the planet, so 2 or 3 days a week I'll cook something without meat. It helps my wallet as well as the planet. But there's only so many lentils/stuffed peppers/halloumi/etc. recipes that I can bear to have over and over again. I have no interest in veg "fake" foods like fake mince, sausages, etc. but I think more than a third of my meals being non-meat is a decent start.

I don't understand why this meme is ... trying to be snarky? I like meat but I still like some vegan meals, that doesn't really "mean" anything.

What I don't understand is the vegans who don't eat meat for ethical reasons. You do realize animals slaughter each other some out of sport and some even eat their pray while they're still alive. Some animals are straight up monsters when it comes to obtaining food, but yeah ethics I get it.

That is in the wild. That is in nature. We aren't in the wild. Those animal who kill are doing it to survive. We don't need meat to survive.

If you do not find something tasty at a good vegan restaurant, you seriously have issues. Besides, pretty much the whole indian cuisine can be prepared in a vegan way, and there are countless delicious options.

I told my mother-in-law the new vegan dish I created and she just rolled her eyes. When I asked what that was about, she responded with a joke about how there was no meat in it, how could it possibly taste good. That's when I dropped the bombshell of the Chocolate Latte Cake I made for Christmas that she scarfed down...totally vegan..and Gluten Free. "Did it taste good?" She got quiet. I told her "We aren't doing vegan for the sake of the animals. We are doing it because our health was so bad, we needed a different way to eat so we wouldn't die. Do you think that's funny?" She apologized. After that..she gave us nothing but support and even started learning how to cook vegan.

When you're on a special diet (and vegan is a special diet), you should check beforehand if the restaurant can accommodate you.

I think this picture illustrates many of the misunderstanding between vegans and the non-vegans. Vegan food is more than a meat-dish bereaved of animal products. Anyone claiming that vegan food cannot be tasty and healthy (regardless of continuing to eat meat or not) either has not experiences well-prepared vegan food or is simply closed-minded.

Easy explanation, chickens, pigs, cows etc are raised for the purpose of being eaten. Cats and dogs aren't (in most parts of the world).

I'm a vegetarian with known food allergies to nuts and several types of bean. If I had a dollar for every time a vegan purposely added allergens to my food, I wouldn't need to get generic epipens.
