35 Hilarious Vegan Memes That May Change The Way You Look At Meat
Community member
Nobody said being vegan is easy; it takes a certain level of self-control and preparation to live up to your ideals. One accusation that is often leveled at vegans is the way veganism converts eulogize about the benefits of their dietary choice, while most of the time scolding others for their 'unorthodox' meat-eating decisions. While it usually comes from the right place, wanting others to feel as good about themselves as the vegans do, it can be a bit grating for meat or dairy eaters who just aren't interested in the whole vegan diet thing.
Surely there's a more natural way to spread the message of vegan food goodness? One that's unpretentious, self-deprecating and easily digested? Why yes, vegan memes of course! We here at Bored Panda have collected the best memes that vegans can seriously relate to, and maybe even pass on a few to their friends who don't get it yet. Scroll down below to check them out for yourself, and don't forget to vote for your favorites!

I'm pretty sure they mean like "vegan meals". If someone says "I've never had Chinese food", you don't go like "You've never had RICE!?"

Here's the thing though, we're not going to give up meat because we had one vegan dish.

I told my mother-in-law the new vegan dish I created and she just rolled her eyes. When I asked what that was about, she responded with a joke about how there was no meat in it, how could it possibly taste good. That's when I dropped the bombshell of the Chocolate Latte Cake I made for Christmas that she scarfed down...totally vegan..and Gluten Free. "Did it taste good?" She got quiet. I told her "We aren't doing vegan for the sake of the animals. We are doing it because our health was so bad, we needed a different way to eat so we wouldn't die. Do you think that's funny?" She apologized. After that..she gave us nothing but support and even started learning how to cook vegan.

I think this picture illustrates many of the misunderstanding between vegans and the non-vegans. Vegan food is more than a meat-dish bereaved of animal products. Anyone claiming that vegan food cannot be tasty and healthy (regardless of continuing to eat meat or not) either has not experiences well-prepared vegan food or is simply closed-minded.

Tell Me The Relevancy Of It
I'm a vegetarian with known food allergies to nuts and several types of bean. If I had a dollar for every time a vegan purposely added allergens to my food, I wouldn't need to get generic epipens.

Interestingly, the animals and the planet do tell us what they're thinking but it seems to go in one ear and out the other with most people. Vegans seemed to have listened and made the change to a vegan lifestyle and most now speak for the animals and the planet as clearly: MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT LISTENING OR THEY SIMPLY DON'T CARE. Preach that up your uncaring butts lol.

Well, there is truth in it ... that a lot of stupid people accuse us of being that way, while actually THEY force a discussion about it on US ... but what should one expect from people who think explaining something - usually (pracitcally every time) after THEY asked or sparked an argument about it - is offensive, while killing animals is considered to be not? It won't get any dumber than that - not preaching to these is just saving time and effort for soemthing worth it.

How about: many vegan substitutes (note: not all) eg aguave nectar as a honey substitute are in fact worse for the planet than traditional foods. Oh plus if you’re against the use of ANY animals in production too you can’t eat most things *cough*pollination*cough*. Other than that, educated veganism is a great way to be, and there should be more focus on ‘80% veganism’ to encourage more people rather than it being a be all end all.

So I go to a local asian restaurant. Explain to the manager that we are vegan. She is unsure of what that is. I explain the definition of vegan and what products are off limits. I tell her I'm interested in the Garlic Tofu (with spicy garlic sauce). She checks with the chef and says it's vegan. Fast forward a few months...and a waitress at the restaurant says the garlic sauce is NOT vegan because of chicken broth added to it. She then informs me that the manager is also the chef's wife. She apologizes profusely. I tell her the manager should be the one apologizing, not her. That was 3 years ago and I'm still waiting for that apology.

Wrong tough, it's mostly the northern part of the world who can drink lactose, but the majority of the world is lactose intolerant, simply cause when we're babies we're supposed to drink our moms breastmilk, but as we grow older we're not supposed to anymore, but the nothern part of the world where food was more scarse we evolved to be able to drink milk as adults. So lactose intolerant is actually what humans are "supposed" to be.

I don't know the difference between vegan and vegetarian, and I don't understand about fish. Because Catholics can't have meat on Fridays, so they eat fish. I don't get it. Isn't the definition of "meat" "a dead animal eaten by another animal"? If so, fish is meat, which would imply a vegetarian would not eat fish, nor would a vegan. But when I was younger, there were plenty of self-identified vegetarians who would eat fish. Why is this a dumb question?

I can understand someone asking that, and although I know because I've made legume-based meals for ages due to having been poor when I was young (though I do eat meat), some people just don't know. It's a legitimate question. You might be tired of explaining it over and over, but to a given person, they might just be truly curious. If they eat meat, they probably never looked it up. Here you are, they are interested, and they ask the question.

I enjoy eating meat, not everyday of course, but I don't want to become vegan. I understand that other people want to be vegans, but I hate it when they lecture me about meat eating and try to convert me. I leave you alone, why can't you??
Moral superiority. The overly vocal ones are those who think they're better than you because of how they live their lives. Most vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters just want to quietly get on with their lives, but it's the nasty, arrogant ones you hear the most.
Load More Replies...The animal that is in your sandwich is a victim. Bad people care more about what people think about them, rather than the lives of the innocent victims. It's not about arrogance. I couldn't give two craps about whether I'm a better person than someone or not. Or what I am compared to others. I care about the animals that people purposely pay for to die and understand that they have a will to live. Just like your dog, cat, friends and family. So no it's not about that. It's not nasty to speak up for victims even in the face of so much criticism. It's actually a pretty good thing to do. 🙂☺️

See my comment above. It's nasty/preachy/superior etc. to actively help animals and the planet? Are you mental? The world is changing and so is our education on this topic. It's called compassion. The weird thing is, vegans are helping the planet be a better place for meat eaters to live.
Because the difference in choices is that your choice has a purposeful victim involved. You pay for an innocent animal to die so that it can lose it's one life to be in your sandwich. You are simplifying it to much... It's not like "I like blue, you like red". It's a litteral innocent sentient being that will be dead forever, because you want a few seconds of pleasure to eat it's rotting corpse. 🤔
It amuses me when vegans get accused of thinking that they are morally superior to non-vegans. Personally I'm in it to save some animals, I'd much rather we were all morally equal in order to save even more animals. If a non-vegan thinks I behave like I'm morally superior to them, then that person should stop behaving in a morally inferior way. And yes, even though it affords me zero satisfaction, and is not even on the list of reasons why I'm vegan, by definition I am morally superior to a non-vegan and find it hard to understand why this would be a problem, unless of course some non-vegans have a guilty conscience.
Well you can do what you want. And if that’s true then so can chickens and cows. Why are you trying to stop someone else from doing what they want? Those animals want to live. Why can’t you leave others alone and just let them do what they want?
And? What's the point here exactly? It's not ironic because you are comparing different situational types.

I'll have to add another comment here now. This website in Chrome is buggy AF! Duplicates your comments and then deletes all of them when you delete one of them... We will always "lecture" until the education goes in. You're nearly there, you can cut it all out. You'll enjoy NOT eating meat at all more. The animals and the planet that you're destroying have no voice that you can obviously hear so we speak for them. Would you pass by on the street if someone was doing the following to an animal, maybe a dog, maybe a cow: kicking, beating, raping, torturing, "bolting" (still leaving them conscious), slicing their ankles so they flop about on the floor until death, slicing their throats etc. etc.? Even if you would just call the police on your mobile? That's doing something to help. That's what a lot of vegans do, we defend the voiceless. Just because you can't see it in front of you doesn't mean it isn't happening. Find your compassion. Help the animals and the planet.
Lecturing is fine if people want to hear you lecture. I have no problem with education. What I have a problem with is harassment. The issue is when vegans bring the topic up at inappropriate times or shame people for eating animal products.

The planet is dying mainly because of the over-consumption of meat and dairy products so you're going to get lectured. 4. People are just not listening so you're going to get lectured.
I don’t care if you’re vegan. I don’t care if you tell me you’re vegan. I will never tell you to eat animal products. But the second you tell me why I SHOULD be a vegan, we have a problem. I don’t believe many vegans fall into the stereotypical “militant aggressive” type, but those that do ruin it for other vegans. Same as meat eaters.... we’re not all jerks about it, but those that are ruin it...
Like the people who are so anti-vegan they go like "F**K YOU I'M GOING TO EAT ONLY MEAT"? I don't think anyone should be reactionary like that, but you REALLY shouldn't have a reactionary DIET!
Load More Replies...When you realize the world doesn't revolve around you and your problems with others, and instead learn to listen to what the others are saying, you have learned something very important in life. The next time a vegan speaks, try to listen to what they are saying, instead of taking something personally that isn't meant to be personal. The animals deserve your attention, our planet deserves your attention and your health deserves your attention. Did you know animal agriculture is the leading cause for the destruction of our planet?
Oh yes! There are lots of meat eaters who think we are going to die without meat! I have to listen to their protein deficiency preach all.the.time! And I'm always the one who mind her own business
people only preach when they are preached to. you might want to ask why you are having the discussion in the first place.

You should be vegan because it’s immoral not to be. Needing a safe space against actual reality is pathetic, especially when you consider that even a little chicken or lamb that’s going to die is still tougher than you.
Being a vegan is like belonging to a particular religion, it's your choice and it suits you. Problems arise if you become militant and try to force it onto others who have other views.
if you think meat and dairy called suffering, environmental degradation, it’s important to educate others
Load More Replies...veganism is based on moral principles that recognise the fundamental right of sentient beings not to be used as property; it is no more a religion than being opposed to rape or child molestation is. It’s a matter of basic morality – not faith. .
What part of veganism has something to do with religion? Wouldn't you agree that taking the life of another living being is immoral, unless we need to do so for survival (which we don't)? Would you be totally fine if your neighbor killed his dog just to enjoy the taste of its flesh? Killing cows, pigs and chickens in western countries is in no way different from killing a dog for its taste. That is vegans' view on ethics, what is yours?
The foundations of Veganism are moral. The foundations of religion are moral. Saying its for health reasons are not valid as you can eat just as healthy with meat in your diet.

No, religion has to do with a belief in god or goddesses. Eating animals has to do with taking away the free will of another entity. It’s massiveky different.
Are people actually thinking about what they're writing? Animals don't have free will? LOL. We're all animals: my dog tells me when it wants to go out and play with the cat (amongst other things). I'm sure lions that sunbathe or wash themselves etc. are being forced into this at gun point. Dolphins meet up with ancestors every year (or something like that) and show incredible levels of intelligence. A lot of other animals do too...what the absolute f**k are you lot on about?
Whether or not a human being considers animals spiritually relevant and wrong to kill is tied in with their personal moral code and overall world view. You can't FORCE anyone to consider killing animals morally wrong, thats like forcing someone to consider sex before marriage wrong and making them live accordingly, which is what you're asserting. YOUR personal morals cannot be forced on others, that's not how moral agency works. And yeah sorry, animals don't operate on a "free will" level of consciousness like humans do, they operate on survival instinct. They don't invent moral codes nor do they differentiate between "good" and "bad" behaviors outside of survival purposes. They kill other animals the same as humans do, but humans are simultaneously suppose to be on the same level as animals yet "know better" than to kill them at the same time. This assertion makes zero sense unless you also hold animals to the same "don't kill other entities" standards, which I'm assuming you're not.

Eating animals is not a "personal" lifestyle choice - it involves other sentient beings.
It is a choice regardless of what they are. Cannibalism is a personal lifestyle choice too. Not one that will make you many friends and medically problematic for you in the long run, but it's still a choice.
