The irony is they claim to have empathy for animals but seem wholly unwilling to accept that unlike humans, animals will follow their instincts and eat what they need to survive. They do not have the moral compass humans like to think they have. Also, if you want to minimize the chances your cat will kill "too many birds and mice", there's a simple solution — keep them indoors. Cats are an invasive species and WILL destroy the local ecosystem if allowed to roam freely. It's the same reason dogs should only be allowed outside the house under close human supervision. It is entirely up to the pet owner to ensure any domesticated animal in his / her care is kept safe and that other animals are kept safe from it.

@Cheryl no idea why you were downvoted. Whilst I do let my ferals roam free (if I can't socialize them into indoor life).... they eat mice. Wow, mice. Big deal. Which are also invasive and brought from other places in some cases. UGH.

Yes "they" have empathy for all animals, unlike animals humans do not need eat animals to survive, and unlike animals, humans do destroy our planet and animal agriculture is the major contributor to this devastation, greater than industrial and car pollution. Although humans create well too much carbon dioxide, the methane emissions (produced by animal agriculture) is a real climate killer. Cows produce 150 billion gallons CH4 - methane, which harms plants, per day globally; CO2 -carbon dioxide fertilizes plants.

What I find extremely strange is that only house-cats are condemded for killing to many birds and mice (those breed like anything). Don’t stray cats kill?

Leo, please do not say "they" because of this post, which more likely is not true. I would like to hear her side of the story. Too quick to judge. FYI, dairy products are unhealthy and extremely cruel, the animal protein - called casein - is very dissimilar from human protein and causes (together with strong proteins in meat and eggs) inflammations in the human body (such as arthritis), chronic diseases (such as diabetes - which can be reversed with plant-based - vegan diet), heart diseases/clogged arteries, various cancers, and other maladies.
