Reminds me of Haiti a bit. Cinder block structures (most without electric and running water) are built on top of each other a bit haphazardly. If you are fortunate enough (wealthy), your place is at the top of the heap. The poorer people live at the bottom and when the intense tropical rains hit, all the trash and whatnot run to the bottom. That trip made me truly grateful for what I have.

That's actually pretty awesome. Those are Stack Houses, built on the side of a mountain. In the middle is a highway tunnel that goes underneath the mountain.

Two words come to mind, Jenga and earthquake.

What am I looking at? Piles upon piles of houses. How does this mass of homes even stay erect. God help you if you live at the bottom. How does this not collapse or implode. Can you imagine giving someone directions to your house. I am exhausted just looking at this.

I don't understand why countries continue to not support better housing developments and then complain when a natural disaster washes it all away and expects the world to come and rebuild what they could have already rebuilt.
