For Those Who Step Up

My parents split when I was in first grade. My mom met my step-dad, mark, when I was in second grade. We moved in with him by the time I was in 3rd we moved in to his house. He treated my siblings and I as his own since day 1. He even would watch Gilmore Girls with me and my sister every afternoon. After my mom died when I was 16, Mark didn’t make us go live with our biological dad. He continued raising us as his own. He started out as my mom’s boyfriend and became my dad, my best friend, my go-to for advice.

Mark ended up working 3 jobs while having heart failure, asthma, and diabetes. He did everything he could to provide for my sister and I. He passed away 6 days before I graduated college in 2016. It’s been a few years but I still have trouble on Father’s Day. He could have ditched us when our mom died and we didn’t have enough income. But he didn’t. He was there fighting to put food on the table. Happy Father’s Day for all of the fathers who fight for their children.

We can improve everybody's life so much by just letting animals live their life among us, as long as we accomodate them well and treat them with respect. Even if you can't afford a pet, be friendly to any wild animal you meet on your way, make room for them in your place as much as possible : you'll never feel sad and lonely anymore. One of the worst, most toxic for the environment and self-destructive feelings in humanity is to think that we're alone on this planet and only have to care about ourselves.

"as long as we accomodate them well and treat them with respect" EXACTLY. As an ethologist i made my thesis about it and the point was to study the effects of animal mediation on severe apathy/brain damage AND to prove that a free range animal is best and more efficient for patients and just basic respect for the animals. My appendices featured WTF pictures of mistreated animals performing "pet therapy". I proved very well that free range animals are even more efficient. Once a severely apathetic patient said "oh, the cat is about to jump off the wardrobe!" "yes he is madam!" it needs a very deep insight and interest to predict a behavior, that was awesome for a severely apathetic patient. Could not have been there with a poor tied cat who have no choice and is stressed as hell. This kind of people should be forbidden to work around animals and vulnerable people, they can make a lot of damages on both. maltraitan...fa7612.jpg

Thank you for telling this. When I was a kid, my mom ran an equestrian center. Small family business, nothing posh, it was not really about taking lessons, you could basically go for a ride for an hour or two with a guide. The great thing about it was that our horses lived all year long as a herd in a very large park, and I guess they were rather happy with no signs of stress or any of these common diseases you see on club horses. Thanks to that, they were very peaceful and nice to the customers. Well, if an asshole came around and pretended to dominate them, they could be a bit nasty, but the most impressive thing I've seen with them is how they behaved with mentally ill people - always very nice, quiet and friendly. And I'm not a therapist, but I can tell it seemed to work perfectly with these people as well, making them calmer and more confident. I learned some great lessons there about humanity, animals and friendship between the two.

Animal mediation can do wonders. As an ethologist i studied the effects of sessions with my cat on severe apathy due to Alzheimer and brain damage. He managed to make a severly apathetic patient suffering from Alzheimer and stroke brain damage to use an arm that she never used since her stroke years before. Good job kitty! RIP kitty, he was a rescue and i lost him from mediastinal cancer while writing my thesis, it was awful but i know that he helped people a lot. photo-1-61...2a078a.jpg

What kind of horse is that? It looks like an ancient breed with its neck being about 50% taller than "normal" horses' necks? You can see the ridge of muscle where the mane would start on an ordinary horse about one hand down from the mane. I'd love to know if anyone into horses could share!

Any day a fur baby visits you in the hospital is an awesome day! Such compassion! A few years ago they brought in comfort animals to my work place. One of the loves came and just laid his/her head on my lap for the longest time. Made my day!

Autistic Boy's Parents Makes A Sign To Inform People Passing By That He Just Communicates Like That

Our autistic son’s window overlooks a park. When he yells to get kids attention, people were calling the police thinking someone was in distress. We made a 7 foot banner of him as his fav musician to let people know he’s safe and happy. Now he gets friendly waves every day from kids in the park.
