Always consider old pets first when adopting if possible. Young and cute ones easily find a family but the old ones struggle much more. When we adopted Yin (one of our 3 cats) he was 12 and had spent 6 years at the shelter, half his life! This should not happen...

Of course this should not happen. I'm not "blaming" anyone, although I could. It just seems that the shelter could have done more to pull in attention to him. I know they are very busy, but 6 years is outrageous. I am so happy you took him home. My 20 year old was abandoned - just left behind. I'm glad they did and I can't tell you the reasons, but you can imagine. She just passed away in March, and it was devastating. I will always miss her sweetness and her obvious love for me.

This breaks my Heart. God bless this wonderful woman. I have my own cat of 5 years and from last year a neighbor cat of 12 years who lives with us now. The neighbor didn’t even care when I told her too take care of him in the winter so I took him in and he never left. (I several time brought him to his home but he just returned in 5 minutes to us) He has now a loving home with us

If the world was full of people like this truly empathetic, kind woman the life on this planet would know no suffering. - "Kindness to animals is its own reward." - Patrick McDonnell ..... it is the ultimate reward!!!! ..... That is the literally truth, nothing else will do. Just like everything else, human empathy must be built from foundation - helping the helpless, voiceless. All the problems humanity is facing is rooted in its lack of UNIVERSAL compassion.

Seriously, older cats are the BEST. They're already litter box trained, are MUCH calmer and less likely to ruin your furniture or pee in your shoes. They've also already been spayed or neutered and have all their shots, so that's less medical expenses for the owner. An older cat who will also likely be more grateful to be adopted since they've probably been passed over by so many people. You may even save their life if you adopt from a shelter that euthanizes when they run out of space.

Keeping your spirits high is always easier said than done. Sometimes you just can’t help but feel like the world is against you, especially during the times of worldwide pandemic. Many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, and cause strong emotions in adults and children. After all, we've lived under numerous public health actions and restrictions for more than a year, and social distancing has made many of us feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety.

Now that the world is returning to normal, many people feel like they cannot keep up with it. Unclear vaccination status, fear of catching the virus, record rates of unemployment, businesses going bankrupt and uncertainty about the future have added many layers to the stress. My Foster Dog Had Never Been Indoors Before. This Is Her First Nap, On A Bed, In A Home

My Foster Dog Had Never Been Indoors Before. This Is Her First Nap, On A Bed, In A Home

Sundae was taken from a dog hoarding situation — one man had 16 dogs (and a deceased dog’s body) in his backyard. The dogs had access only to a junk-filled backyard and a garage for shelter.

We’ve had her for about a week and you would never know that she’s never been an indoor dog before. She’s totally potty trained, incredibly gentle and she’s very polite indoors. She loves to sleep as close as possible to me in bed — I think she’s just making up for 8ish years of zero affection.

“The first recommendation I would make to increase positivity is reflecting upon your self-esteem,” she said. Asking yourself questions like “Are you someone who works too hard because you think it’s expected of you and you are attempting to be perfect at everything all the time? Does this or similar behavior stem for some unconscious issue deep inside?” may be extremely beneficial in getting to know yourself.

Autism isn't a condition where you're instantly written off in life, some famous and successful people have autism and people need to stop telling them what they can't do and focus on what they can do and achieve!

Sometimes animals know and can sense when humans are helping them and don't struggle. Like one of my cats is poorly and needs medication and eye drops, twice a day he lies calmly in my arms and swallows his tablet and lets us give him his eye drops. He knows he needs it so doesn't try and run. For all the harm humans do to animals, it's amazing that they still trust us.

Pit bulls aren't born dangerous dogs, its owners who make dogs dangerous. Teach a dog how to behave and any breed can be gentle and loving, makes me angry the bad reputation some dogs have just because a small group of people raise them to intentionally be aggressive.

In most countries and civilisations, our elders live with us. They get care, love and respect from their children and their children get valuable advice, and built in child care. I simply don’t understand the advantages of everyone living in their own in the name of individual freedom, especially if it means leaving the aging to fend fir themselves while your kids are being raised by total strangers. Who benefits from this, except big industry who gets that many more customer households to sell their products to? Genuine question.

I Can Finally Celebrate My One Year For Being Clean From Self-Harm

I Can Finally Celebrate My One Year For Being Clean From Self-Harm

What a journey it has been. It has been one of the absolute hardest years of my life mentally, and I still really have no idea how I pulled through without falling for the temptation to go back to my old habits. When I put on the first bead, it seemed so stupid. It was just a tiny little bead, on a long string... But then it grew, day by day. My progress was so visible, and that was important to me.
As the months passed by, the thought of sliping became harder and harder, because I had some so far, you know? Often, the very thought of having to start over, was the only thing keeping me from going back.

When I was a kid, I thought getting citizenship to America was the neatest thing. The people looked so proud raising their hands to declare their allegiance to America. The only thing neater was to maybe have dual citizenship. I was born here and was proud to share. I was only first and third generation. Then I met people who did not want to share. I traveled and had the sudden realization that other countries are home to proud people. And that people immigrate to and from everywhere. When things get tough, many stay and work to make things better. It sounds simplistic, but I think people should live freely anywhere they want to in the world.

Rarely, responsibly, and I make sure to place them with families I know are committed to their care. When you see that bond starting to form, it's the sweetest thing! ❤🐇❤
