So Happy For Them Both
Always consider old pets first when adopting if possible. Young and cute ones easily find a family but the old ones struggle much more. When we adopted Yin (one of our 3 cats) he was 12 and had spent 6 years at the shelter, half his life! This should not happen...
Of course this should not happen. I'm not "blaming" anyone, although I could. It just seems that the shelter could have done more to pull in attention to him. I know they are very busy, but 6 years is outrageous. I am so happy you took him home. My 20 year old was abandoned - just left behind. I'm glad they did and I can't tell you the reasons, but you can imagine. She just passed away in March, and it was devastating. I will always miss her sweetness and her obvious love for me.
Load More Replies...This breaks my Heart. God bless this wonderful woman. I have my own cat of 5 years and from last year a neighbor cat of 12 years who lives with us now. The neighbor didn’t even care when I told her too take care of him in the winter so I took him in and he never left. (I several time brought him to his home but he just returned in 5 minutes to us) He has now a loving home with us
I'm so glad!!! Good for you both. I'm also the happy caretaker/momma of a few street or abandoned cats. They warm and brighten my day.
Load More Replies...I adopted two elderly cats and it was the best decision ever. I love this woman for given this beautiful cat a loving retirement!
I love this so much, my fav animals at my rescue shelters are the seniors, I always sit and have breakfast with the old boys and girls. I wish them the happiest life together, they will bring a new energy to each other.
Everything_Fubar, there are so many suffering animals waiting for all the kind people to give them love..... you CAN do it, there's no "would" about it.
Load More Replies...Me too. I guess perhaps we are so overwhelmed with emotion crying is our release
Load More Replies...I love this! I’m so happy that he will be spending the rest of his life in a loving home.
My cats are now 15 and 13.5 years, both female. Hope they live to 20 at least! If not, I will be looking at another older girl also. Love older cats, and I am also older at 74!!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thank you angel. What monster would leave their old cat alone in a shelter?
And you can tell that that kitty is so happy and loving her already for getting her out of there.
I want to thank all those who are the equal to this woman, not just (crying) admirers of hers. Thank you all for your compassion.
If the world was full of people like this truly empathetic, kind woman the life on this planet would know no suffering. - "Kindness to animals is its own reward." - Patrick McDonnell ..... it is the ultimate reward!!!! ..... That is the literally truth, nothing else will do. Just like everything else, human empathy must be built from foundation - helping the helpless, voiceless. All the problems humanity is facing is rooted in its lack of UNIVERSAL compassion.
It is true, Patricia Brown. The question remains, does the world needs more people like you?

Seriously, older cats are the BEST. They're already litter box trained, are MUCH calmer and less likely to ruin your furniture or pee in your shoes. They've also already been spayed or neutered and have all their shots, so that's less medical expenses for the owner. An older cat who will also likely be more grateful to be adopted since they've probably been passed over by so many people. You may even save their life if you adopt from a shelter that euthanizes when they run out of space.
Thank you Vicissitude of Fate for your comment, especially for the last sentence. I fervently wish you were the vicissitude of all that suffering on this planet.
Load More Replies...Almost all of us could and should (if we truly wanted) to do this
Load More Replies...Thank goodness there are still SOME decent, caring, loving people in the world! All I read in the news is reports of arseholes killing people; it is so depressing.
Robert McKenzie, you appreciate "....SOME decent, caring people...." What about you>? Are you one of them?
Load More Replies...i am definitely, absolutely not crying, there is just something in my eye.
Oh my gosh 🥰 this cat is the happiest cat on the earth at the time of this photo Bless them both 💘
This is extremely heart warming, I have two cats, or I would, hope this helps some others to do the same, to give a senior cat, or dog some love, for the time they have left, you can foster or adopt !!!
i adopted a 17 year old guy from a "kill" shelter...at 20 he is still hanging on..my love; but he has teeth issues that cannot be resolved as he is too old for anesthesia
Great for both of you, thank you for saving this senior kitty, I can barely put this into text because it's raining inside my apartment 😥, no animal should be that alone, again thank you. 💕
If there were no lonely, suffering animals in the world, there would be no lonely, suffering people.
Load More Replies...❤️❤️❤️ I also have a 20 year old cat 🐈 Kudos to this caring lady for giving love and comfort to this precious old cat. 💕💕💕
Oh my word, big tears here! So sweet of her! I would have done the same!
How does such a senior cat wind up in a shelter? Perhaps owner died? I'd hate to think he'd be surrendered.
What a sweet kitty--and he's been through some stuff which you can tell by the shaved leg.
This lovely, pity in England the rescues just put old cats to sleep, they do not give them a chance
Keeping your spirits high is always easier said than done. Sometimes you just can’t help but feel like the world is against you, especially during the times of worldwide pandemic. Many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful, overwhelming, and cause strong emotions in adults and children. After all, we've lived under numerous public health actions and restrictions for more than a year, and social distancing has made many of us feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety.

Now that the world is returning to normal, many people feel like they cannot keep up with it. Unclear vaccination status, fear of catching the virus, record rates of unemployment, businesses going bankrupt and uncertainty about the future have added many layers to the stress. But whether we like it or not, life twists are unforeseeable, and it's just inevitable we have to find ways to cope with whatever it brings us.

So in order to find out what an expert has to say on keeping your spirits up during hard times, Bored Panda reached out to Lynn How, the author of “Positive Young Mind” and life coach who specializes in supporting educators, parents, and children with improving and prevention of mental health issues.
“When life takes an unexpected twist such as our current global pandemic, having the tools in your toolbox to cope and stay positive are a priority,” said Lynn and added that there are tried and tested ideas to try out to boost inner positivity and resilience.
My Foster Dog Had Never Been Indoors Before. This Is Her First Nap, On A Bed, In A Home
Sundae was taken from a dog hoarding situation — one man had 16 dogs (and a deceased dog’s body) in his backyard. The dogs had access only to a junk-filled backyard and a garage for shelter.
We’ve had her for about a week and you would never know that she’s never been an indoor dog before. She’s totally potty trained, incredibly gentle and she’s very polite indoors. She loves to sleep as close as possible to me in bed — I think she’s just making up for 8ish years of zero affection.

“The first recommendation I would make to increase positivity is reflecting upon your self-esteem,” she said. Asking yourself questions like “Are you someone who works too hard because you think it’s expected of you and you are attempting to be perfect at everything all the time? Does this or similar behavior stem for some unconscious issue deep inside?” may be extremely beneficial in getting to know yourself.

“We all have our own little issues in worrying we’re not good enough or that we don’t matter. Working on this is so important, as if you have higher self-esteem, you are more likely to consider yourself worthy of taking time out to work on yourself. A higher self-esteem improves every aspect of your life so it’s worth the investment.”
According to Lynn, developing a sense of gratitude is another way to improve positivity. “Thinking about ten things every morning on the way to work that I am thankful for really helps lift my positivity and also remember that it could always be worse!”

The mind coach also suggests increasing collaboration with others, since many of us have found ourselves not wanting to talk with people anymore, “especially after long periods of not seeing people—it’s too easy to not restart (but you need to).” Making yourself social is a way to confront these anxieties, although at first, you may not feel like it.

“Recently I heard this phenomenon described as a ‘Blursday.’ Every day is Blursday with no plans! Combat this by filling your diary,” Lynn said and continued: “Plan one nice thing a day to look forward to and get it written down so it actually happens.”
And the last thing is never to underestimate the power of exercise. “Those endorphins coupled with a balanced diet really help to combat negativity and provide you with the energy you need to be motivated,” Lynn concluded. For those who are struggling with addictions or self-control, a pandemic is also a great way to look for online support groups and seek the help you have been postponing for too long.
