It is completely okay to have different opinions about music or food or anything else for that matter. It is also normal to not agree with one another. But there are some people in this world, who may have gone too far with their opposing views or are just trying to get on everybody's nerves. Recently, people on Twitter started sharing their unpopular music opinions, and some, while weird, are still acceptable, for example, standing by their love of country music. But then there were some who's opinion are simply outrageous, from calling the Beatles overrated to saying all rap music sucks, these people are definitely trying to stir up some arguments, and well, they succeeded.

And also a lot of oily, shaking asses in their videos. Normally I'm not a prude, but I find most pop music videos disgusting.

I Googled some lyrics, it’s often a good thing that they mumble

This is so true, not just of rap. People say to ignore the awful lyrics and listen to the music. NO! Unless it is instrumental it should be judged on lyrics as well

That's what I've always hated Chopin's music. He was a terrible lyricist.

Hahahaha duuuude I was going to make the same joke. Music without lyrics is usually way better as, you know, whoever makes it usually really cares about it.

I focus on music/beat first, but mostly because I can't understand the singers. I'm still Googling old rock songs from the 70's to find out all of the words, since I haven't been able to figure them out myself for 40 years. If you want someone to hear your lyrics, make sure we can all understand them.

Said that earlier! We had rappers in the past who rapped with meaning.

Actually some of the beats nowadays are garbage. None of them are memorable or catchy. A good beat can make a song, even with bad lyrics. Not like back in the day where you hear the first few notes of a song and you totally recognize it and bounce your head to it.

The problem is you will only remember the good songs.. 10 years ago the average lyrics where c**p too... Just like 20 years ago or 30, and 40....

Every generation make comments like this, everyone thinks their generation invented bad music, it's not the case it's just that no one remembers the last generations bad music.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I mean i for enjoy mumble rap as well as classic rock and roll I mean I've heard some terrible songs with great lyrics but their terrible out of tune music make them so bad.

yes, I agree, but sometimes its good to just vibe with the music, feel the beat and not care what it is about

Their vocabulary is extremely limited! It's well documented. Need to read some Dickens!

Many people in my generation (gen z) do listen to c**p music, and I don't like all the mumble rap and crappy lyrics of today's top songs but saying our vocabulary is extremely limited is a huge over generalization, and a bit mean. I personally love Dickens, and I read a vast number of books. Many people I know who listen to what I consider crappy music also read complex books and have a great vocabulary they use for our complex literature classes. While the classics are important and great books it is also important to read the new books by new authors. Just because people have bad taste in music it does not mean they have a limited vocabulary

people who aren't native english speakers do not usually know anything about what lyrics of an american-british song mean.

I have to disagree. Music is about how it makes you feel. Whether it does that with lyrics or music/beat (or both) doesn't matter.

I disagree. I love lyrics in the songs but there is no thing like "too much emphasis on music/beats". For some people the most important part of music is lyrics, for other one - melody. Is any of these groups worse? I don't think so. They just have different needs. As for "mumbling rappers" - there always was, is and will be bad music. It doesn't depend from this or other generation. It just IS. There are many valuable, focused people in the newest generation - as there were in every one before.

They were saying that 10 years ago. And 20 years ago. And 30 years ago. Oh, wait... middle aged and older adults are always dissing on the media interests of teens and young adults.

I prefer video game/film music, I find it stimulates my imagination and is often well composed (John Williams especially)

Both songs with lyrics and instrumental songs can be immensely powerful!

The whole reason that it's popular is because a lot of people like it. You shouldn't be shamed because you're adding on to the list of people that like the song

I hate elitist fans who pretend they're somehow better because they liked something earlier than someone else
