I don't like ice-cream, gelato, sorbet, or frozen yogurt at all. I don't have a "sweet tooth" at all for cakes, cookies, pastries and such, (I absolutely DETEST chocolate) and a lot of people don't believe me. I prefer the cheese plate to dessert.

Yes!!! I'm a chef and people find it weird that my favorite ice cream is vanilla bean, not that French vanilla stuff.

I don’t know about superior but definitely unfairly maligned. Vanilla is a lovely subtle flavor on its own and a vital supporter of other flavors.

I find vanilla ice cream, like most ice cream, horrible. Chocolate is pretty much the only one I can stomach.

I won't say that vanilla ice cream is superior than chocolate ice cream, I say it is each person taste. I like mint chocolate chip and strawberry.
