It is easy to get lost in the feelings of fear, sorrow, and uncertainty with all the news coming from the Ukrainian-Russian War. It will be something that will impact millions of lives, both in the areas of conflict and beyond. However, we cannot deny that kindness, as scarce as it may seem, still exists within us, especially when it comes to our four-legged friends. This story tells the heartwarming tale of Rambo, the puppy rescued from the cold by Ukrainian soldiers in Donbass. The video has been seen 3.7M times and now we are sharing it with you!

In the video by Freedom News, now verified by The Independent, a group of Ukrainian soldiers recount the time they came across a scared and freezing puppy and decided to take him in. The video was originally uploaded February 16th, but it went viral a couple of days after the war originally began.

The tiny black puppy with a light-striped belly and legs is seen happily strutting around the base, exploring each nook and crevice. One of the soldiers says humorously “He is our protector. Right, Rambo?” And the little pupper is said to be doing the job fantastically well!

“He is our security. That is his job,” one of the troops tells the camera as the reporter is heard chuckling in the background. “He can hear very well if there is a stranger nearby,” he continued. “Rambo is doing a good job! Best doggo,” said another soldier. Small but mighty one might say. Fear the mighty Rambo!
Rambo stomps and prances around the muddy surroundings, not a care in the world regarding his surroundings, just a lot of love and excitement for his new friends. It is truly surprising how such a tiny being can bring so much joy to all those around him.

Another troop recalls the beginning of their companionship: “He used to be so tiny he could fit in one hand” and then proceeded to say that there are a couple more puppies who enjoy the kitchen area more.

Rambo’s older siblings have an important role to play too

Rambo became part of the family with his new older siblings taking on similar roles. “They help us,” remarks one soldier, “something that a human won’t hear, the dog will, they feel it.” Truly man’s best friend, both in peaceful times and in trying ones like the present. Muha (Fly), Babai, Malisha (Baby) join in on the conversation, sitting patiently next to each other and their soldier.

It’s difficult to smile at the current moment but we’re glad that a puppy can do the job

The troop ends by saying: “Missing home, of course, been here for a little too long now.” The conflict in Ukraine has undeniably affected us, but we must stay strong, patient, and kind to everyone around us. These kinds of moments give us hope that regardless of the hardship we face, we can find kindness within.

If one little hair on this little guy is hurt I'm storming Russia. This is too much. All of these innocent people and animals. Putin is a monster.
