Sing along with me now. Two cats are better than one, they’re twice the fun, ask anyone, a second cat can be second-to-none. Thank you, thank you. That was my lovingly done adaptation of ‘How I Met Your Mother’s’ hit song ‘Two Beavers Are Better Than One,’ slightly changed to better fit our mutual love of gorgeous felines and beautiful floofs.
And, truly, two cats really are better than one, and we’ve got the proof. Bored Panda has collected some of the most fun, wholesome, and hilarious photos of cat duos goofing and lazing about, all to heal and soothe your souls, dear Pandas. Maybe even to convince you to get a second catto if you’ve only got one at home. Just show your partner or family this list when you want to pitch them this awesome idea wink wink nudge nudge.
Remember to upvote your fave cat pics as you scroll down. Just imagine that each upvote is like petting the pets. Oh, and there really are tons of benefits to having more cats. Not just for you—for the pets themselves. On the other hand, you should also be aware that far from every cat wants to have company: some felines find having a strange cat in their home very stressful.
PDSA Vet Anna Ewers Clark gave Bored Panda a look at the other side of the story, how domestic cats tend to be rather solitary creatures who tend to like their own company. “Although it can be tempting to think that your cat might benefit from getting another feline friend, quite the opposite could be true! Introducing a new, unrelated cat to an existing cat’s territory can actually be very stressful for them both, so think very carefully before getting ‘company’ for your cat,” she said that cat owners should be aware of this before introducing a new pet into the household.

Two Cats, One Heart
According to Anna, a vet working with the PDSA, cats can enjoy living together in some particular cases. “Siblings from the same litter, or kittens that have grown up together can get along quite well and enjoy each other’s company,” she gave Bored Panda an example.
“Signs your cats get along include grooming each other, snoozing together, touching noses, and rubbing their heads together. They will also like to do things together, like relaxing in the garden or playing together, and may like to have friendly play-fights,” the vet gave examples of positive behaviors that show everything’s right as rain.

However, the play-fights in this case will be quiet, start up and stop a lot, and the cats’ ears will be forward and alert.
Some things that indicate that there’s trouble brewing, according to vet Anna, include the following: “If the fighting is continuous, you hear hissing, their ears are back and flat to their head, their backs are arched or you see claws orbiting, it’s likely this isn’t just a play-fight. Break it up by making a loud noise or placing a physical barrier between them—don’t use your hands though!” You can find some more tips and advice on how to stop cats from fighting right over here.

There Are Two Types Of People
But like people, even cats that get along with other felines, will want to have some space for alone time and may prefer to eat separately. “Always make sure they have separate food and water bowls, and spread these out so they can eat separately,” PDSA Vet Anna said.
“They’ll also need separate litter trays, scratching posts, beds and any other resources. A good rule is to supply one of each resource per cat, plus one extra, to ensure they can always choose to be alone if they prefer.”
Some of the signs that your cats aren’t getting along include hissing, growling, scratching, and being aggressive towards each other. What’s more, another indication of stress can be if your cats spray urine indoors or toilet outside of their litter trays or in different places of the house.

Meanwhile, Fundamentally Feline writes that having two cats (or more if we’re honest—keep an eye out for an article titled “Three cats are better than two”) is great for the animals. That’s because this way, they can actually enjoy each other’s company and be social as a species.
“They naturally live in small groups called colonies. Cats are solitary hunters, but not a solitary species,” writes cat behaviorist Ingrid Johnson, explaining that some people may have some misunderstandings about felines and how social they are.

They’re Always Plotting
According to the expert, cats that have playmates tend to be more socially well-adjusted, have fewer behavior problems, are less aggressive, and are not as shy, on the flip side. In short, socialization brings out the best in cats.
What’s more, if cats are poorly socialized during their early life, they may not know how to react when they eventually come into contact with an actual cat later on. Think about how Disney’s Tarzan reacted to seeing a human being for the first time as an adult.

Furthermore, pets that have other pets to play with can be far more active. And active cats are healthier, happier, and tend to be slimmer. This is very important considering the various health issues that come with a catto being a chonker: they might look huggable but their quality of life suffers as a result.
When cats have company, they also tend to be less destructive. That’s because they’re not as bored and so don’t need to try so hard to get their owner’s attention: they’ve already got someone to play with even if their hooman is busy.

Having two cats also means that you don’t have to worry as much about your pet getting lonely if you ever go on a short trip or have to work long hours at the popcorn mines/corporate office. And, Fundamentally Feline argues, having a playmate will keep your floof of a feline young and energetic into its senior years.

They all look really cute. I could never get a pic of my cats together, they hate each other.
I've decided I want a cat! Actually... I've always wanted a cat....
Cats are like potato chips.............you can't have just one!
I do believe (in general) that animals do enjoy the company of members of their own species... I've been the human servant to two cats for a decade now. Wouldn't want it any other way.
Well "duh", of course two cats are better than one, and three cats are more fun than two, and so on. I mean what could be better than cats, no matter how many?
I have a mother/son duo. Lately, Beans(m) has been chasing Leia up the stairs for daring to set foot on the main floor. Beans has grown to be much bigger than his mom. I'm at a loss for how to get him to stop bullying her.
I've always had two, but when the remainder man from my last duo died, I was asked to adopt an adult male who did not get along with other cats. He'd been passed around a little, and, frankly, he is so docile and loving - but maybe because he's got me wrapped around his paw. Of course he needs special foods - if a cat has health issues - they are attracted to me! And he helps me with my sewing projects by holding the fabric in place. IMG_2350-6...74b0bc.jpg
Actually, I could write another chapter, all the love, fun and laughter, the second kitty, was the last of the litter, to be adopted, she was alone for some time, therefore, she is extremely affectionate, just can't get enough love and attention, and I have the time, but I also make a great effort, to make sure they both feel equal in love, I do love both, and my heart is overflowing !!!
one of my girls, just walks away when she sees my camera, I have the camera beside my chair, but times I see them together, the camera is in the other rom, but I manage to have some great shots, getting my second cat, involves a story, I had a senior dog, planned to get a kitten when he is gone, but a few months before he left {for heaven} a friend had a rescue kitten, she was about four and a half mo; she fell in love with my dog, he was deaf and blind, still ate and out for short walks, then cancer took him, My kitty saw me leave with the dog, and return without, she didn't like me a all, she mourned the dog, after several weeks, I finally adopted a kitten for her, they were fine, cuddled and played, it has been great, the only issue, they don't want to share me, at bedtime, if one was sleeping on me, the other would not get on the bed, they take turns to cuddle on my lap, I understand, but would love to have both on the bed, having two cats is a good thing, I strongly advise it.
