Ever seen those "Trust me, I'm an engineer" memes? Well, now we know where they got their inspiration from.

We're all guilty of a little DIY now and again. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes it's just plain disastrous. But when it isn't TOO disastrous, it can often be pretty funny. Which is why Bored Panda have compiled this list of amusingly creative DIY solutions to pesky everyday problems. So take a look at the pictures below. You might just find a good way to fix something. Or you'll discover the best way NOT to do things. Either way, it's probably best if you don't try these at home. But if you have already then feel free to send us your pictures!

Until the cord overheats and it starts a fire. I used to fix laptops and this could actually be very dangerous depending on the laptop.

Great idea but you don't really need a leash for that. A string will do. It's likely the leash isn't set in the "pulling back mode" otherwise it could snap off the hook when actually pulling back by mistake.

Well it's a perfectly good bike otherwise. I've had someone steal a bike that the front tire was taken off of to prevent theft lol

In this case, the bricks aren't structural; just ornamental. As long as the steel post inside the column is okay, all they need to do is keep the rest of the bricks from falling all over the place until a mason can fix it.

The duct tape is not on the baby, it's just holding the pull-ups together. They separate at the sides, but this pair looks a bit small for the child wearing them, so you improvise and they work fine. I've done this before in a pinch when we were given a pair from another parent that were just a tad small for my child.

It's not really necessary to have replaced the ring. The shower curtain would stay up just fine without it , you've still got rings on either end of it. I have to agree with Pedro Nunes.

You could also use that to fix your keyholder.

It sure is! Or half of it, duct taped to a monitor. What likely happened was that the screen broke, so it's been detached and the rest used with the external monitor plugged into the VGA port, and an external keyboard plugged into a USB port. She doesn't look too happy about the arrangement, though. :-)

Put a rubber band around the handles so you don't have to hold them closed while you shave. You could use electrician's tape, but that might leave gummy residue.

I just fixed one of those...the proper way. I did have to Mickey Mouse one small bit; the arm inside was too land and was hitting the float causing the toilet to run. A quick snip off the end with a pair of shears and all is well.
