At one point or another, most of us have probably gotten ourselves into trouble at school once or twice. Getting sent to the principal’s office, having your parents come down to school to talk with the teachers, etc. is not necessarily the best experience when you’re a kid. In fact, it is typically quite terrifying for most. But you do have to do something extra silly or irresponsible to even get to that point most of the time.

These people took to Twitter to share their stories of getting into trouble at school… for ridiculously silly reasons. From sparing lab frogs’ lives to getting detention for chilling at detention without having been sent to detention, here are 39 scenarios where people got into trouble at school because of something very silly. Scroll down to see the whole list and consider upvoting the entries that crack you up the most!

For a lot of kids, school would eventually become kind of boring and repetitive. So it is no wonder why they constantly come up with ways to annoy each other or their teachers. Small acts of rebellion or silly stunts against the establishment that is school are not even necessarily bad as long as there is balance between acting up and being educated.

There is always at least one teacher at school who will seemingly go out of their way to scold or punish students for doing barely anything. But that doesn’t only count for school. That could also be your family member or your boss. So in a way, school does somewhat prepare you for life and dealing with real people outside one's safe bubble.

All in all, school is a place where people get ready for some important aspects of their lives. But a part of the learning process - the rebellion, the occasional prank, should not be met with complete shutdown and resistance. Instead, teachers should focus on educating their students, not pointing fingers at them for obscure reasons and calling it a day.

I used to reward kids who hacked me by deputising them, if you are smart you get to be my minion.

I was once accused (and punished) for hacking my highschool. They claimed that I had hacked the admin, and locked them out. This was a big thing at school and since I was the head computer nerd of the school, helping them with IT issues and such, my mere presence at the school when it happened was enough to blame me. Now this whole thing got ridiculous. One time, a few years later, a kid from an other school told me that he heard of me and wondered if it was true that I was the one involved in that time the Secret Police had been involved in the high school hacking incident. I did set the story straight. Yes, the story was about me, but the truth was that the school admin had entered the wrong password three times and locked himself out of the account. They figured that out as soon as they could inspect the logs.

Back in the early 2000s someone downloaded AOL's software onto a couple of the work computers. If you had an AOL account you could log on and it would completely bypass any of the censorship normally on the internet there. Unfortunately the one time I remember this feature being used I got to see part of a co-worker I did not want to see. Some guy who knew the co-worker had some sort of website that he posted photos of himself in a hot tub with guys he was partying/hooking up with.

My account on the network was suspended and I'm such an idiot for letting it take place. A "friend" of mine had asked if they could use my account on the network. Because it wasn't against the rules to let someone use it, I didn't think much of a "friend" using it to finish an assignment. I was desperately trying to finish my own so I could get a weekend without homework and not paying attention to what he was doing beside me. Jerkface was looking at really disturbing things. It pinged on the system monitoring activity and we both got detention. Because he had his suspended for the same thing it was easy to determine who was doing it but of course because I gave permission, I was also at fault. I at least finished my essay before the weekend and only lost my network access for a week. I got my revenge when his account was returned a month later. All I needed to do was wait for him to go to the bathroom, forget to log off and installed a virus. I'm not a hacker but installing Illegal programs is waaaaay too easy.

Well, it doesn’t really matter that you didn’t get caught for actual hacking if you still got suspended for fake hacking, now does it?

I'm still surprised when people scream "hacking" when they just don't know how to use a computer. I still run into people who don't understand the "Reply All", CC or BCC functions in email. Most of the time it doesn't trigger calls of "hacking" but it still is semi-common to come into work with giant email chains because people are "replying all". The most annoying bit is when people "reply all" requesting that they be removed from the email, and then other people follow suit. Increasing the email spam.

Ppl really forgot what hacking actually means, I kicked off my computer science teacher of the school network and his own computer, but that wasn't hacking because I have done it with a system that was designed to do that, although the breaking the size admins password was really hacking.

Does looking at key strokes while admin typed password and using that password to give your profile admin privileges considered hacking? We are talking back when DOS was a thing.

In comparison to the scene in Ender's Game where the hacking of the school's computer systems is a feature designed to get students to compete with each other.

Kids don't realize that school don't legally have authority on them. Parents solely have. That school is not a prison, they are free to leave whenever they want, and that forcing anyone to stay somewhere against their will is unlawful imprisonment.

Is doing nothing in detention common in many places? Only time I was sent to detention (in France) was for skipping German class and they had us take a super difficult German test and convinced us it would count towards our grade. Then they revealed it was basically a university level test and that we couldn't have possibly completed it and it would never count.

WHY!? PUNISH THE IDIOT NOT THE VICTIM! If someone breaks into your house, and they shoot you, but you shoot him back, you are not gonna punish the victim! Schools just want "zero violence" which does not make sense.

Sure...I don't doubt that they could read but I'm pretty sure they don't kick kids out of preschool for being able to read. My son didn't get kicked out of his preschool for being able to read.
