Survivors of a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, returned from spring break to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and were greeted by new security measures. Among other new regulations, the school staff provided the students with the newest mandatory accessories: a transparent backpack. The administration claims that this regulation will boost safety, but the students hate it. One of the biggest issues for this backlash has a lot to do with the female reproductive system - tampons and other menstrual thingies became impossible to hide. Saying they are beginning to feel as if inside a jail, the teens have already come up with a solution that perfectly expresses both their solidarity for natural feminine stuff and rage against the current gun situation in the country. Only it might infuriate a few conservative minds.

Tampons. The students are filling the new backpacks with loads and loads of tampons. "I only got lights. I didn’t know. Getting supers for tomorrow," student Cameron Kasky tweeted. "Sizes, pricing... I'm learning new things about women's health right now. This stuff is expensive. Steps must be taken to make these health products easier to access."

However, Rachel Padnis, a 16-year-old sophomore at Majory Stone Douglas, has a slightly different opinion. "Personally, I think that clear backpacks aren't that big of a hassle. If it even makes one person at my school feel safer, I am willing to make that sacrifice," Rachel told Bored Panda.

"It's actually pretty funny to walk through the hallways and see all the jokes everyone has written on them," she said. "Although there are a whole bunch of complaints about them and I am feeling like my privacy has been taken away, I think they have brought a lot of real laughter back to my school which was missing for a while."

Padnis believes that people could still carry around weapons there if they wanted. "I see many students with lunchboxes in their backpacks that go unchecked as well as zipper pouches which seems to defeat the intended purpose and the police presence has gone down significantly." According to her, the issue is complex. "I feel like metal detectors or some kind of detector wand would be much more beneficial, but there’s also the fact that it would take a really long time for everyone to get scanned upon their entry to my school since there are about 3,200 students who go here."

I think medal detectors would serve a better purpose. And maybe if the school's would address BULLING there'd stop school shootings don't think it's an issue , you better think Again, guns are not going to slove s**t. Wonder who the master mind is BEHIND the issue they can't seem to slove, any cameras in the school? Probley not.

Please, tell me how this is even remotely bullying? It is the school administration taking steps that they believe will work toward a solution. While I disagree with the solution, I have no idea how it pertains to bullying.

In the name of security you just lost your privacy. That is what this means. They should be regulating guns.

Hey, they wanted to trade other peoples’ rights for security, Then they found out they got to trade their own rights for security, and found out that not only does it suck, it doesn’t work. Sounds like the greatest civics lesson ever.

This is so stupid. What about outside on the school grounds and school buses. Even having mental detectors allow a bunch of students open for someone to shot them. They just dont get it just like a addict they will always find drugs to abuse and sickos will find ways to kill people. The only way to stop is to have stricter regulations and who can have a gun.

Who are the ones that comply with these regulations? ~The law-abiding citizens. Who IGNORES these new, stricter 'regulations'? ~ People that intend to break the law anyway!!! More gun-control DOES NOT WORK. What DOES work? ~ Exactly what was done at my school, and now I see it at the school my kids attend (in another state). Namely, reducing entrance to a single point. Only then does a metal detector make sense. Otherwise, the cost is prohibitive. At my kids' school they have only one entrance, and it uses the same electronically locked and reinforced door. A bullet-proof glass divider (like those used in 'payday loan' buildings or drive up bank tellers) separates the clerk from the individual wanting access. This secures EVERYONE in the school.

Yes, Ilona, ignorant little shits scare conservatives. Especially ignorant little shits who dont know history, who can't read a news site and see that GUN CRIME IS UP 45% in London, even though guns are banned there. Ignorant little shits who stand atop the bodies of REAL VICTIMS and pretend they were victims while the ACTUAL victims--the JROTC students who got shot protecting other students, and families of JROTC students who DIED using their bodies to protect other students are telling YOU and Emma and that ignorant Hogg shithead to STFU and stop using THEIR names to promote an anti-gun agenda that they dont support, or whose families say they wouldn't have supported are VILE! You don't so much scare us, because eventually most of you ignorant shits will grow up--eventually--but you make us sick.

There's a big difference between an increase in gun crime and increase in gun related massacres. And did those kids die 'protecting' their classmates or did they just die? You don't know. What they shouldn't have to fear, living in a first world country, is having to die for their classmates because conservatives care more about the finer points of the 2nd Amendment than the lives of theirs, and other people and children. They're exposing conservatives for the frauds they are, for their greed and for their failure to save the lives of these, and future children. The ignorance is not from them Coward Sheriff, just grab a mirror if you want to see ignorance.

What she's actually saying is that this 'preventative' measure, that will do NOTHING to prevent another massacre, is more worth more to conservatives than gun reform laws and removing public access to assault type weapons used in massacres that would actually reduce future massacres. Thusly, the backpack is actually worth more than her life, because they were more willing to spend money on this ineffective tactic than something that would save lives.

What exactly were they hoping for? Seems to me they wanted a complete ban on guns, which reveals their true intentions. They don't simply want gun control, they want a complete repeal of the 2nd Amendment. It's too late to pretend otherwise.

Stupid, stupid, ignorant children. If my kids had behaved this way while they were school, they'd had gotten their butts warmed with a belt. When I was in highschool, we may not have loved all our teachers, but we respected them. Never did I see one of my classmates ever disrespect an educator. And the principal and those in charge--if a kid was misbehaving, they sent letters to be signed by parents and returned to the school. If that did not happen, they made phone calls--or they actually made a call to the home to speak with the parents. I had one seriously favorite teacher (English teacher) She was barely 10 years older than us--her first class out of college--and we kept in touch over the years--but just about 30 years later, the students and the parents had become so disrespectful it was un-fricking-beleivable. Miss A retired long before retirement--a super loving teacher was lost to the kids who wanted to learn. It starts at home though with disaplining the rotten kid

What has your rant to do with this picture? Are you implying that the TEACHERS think the best way to prevent a shooting are clear backpacks? Because if you ask my opinion, most teachers know damn well where the problems really lie, and it's definitely not in the size, color or shape of a backpack. This girl is not disrespecting a teacher, she's disrespecting a political state of mind that thinks it's a great idea to give guns to teachers! So those teachers then can go and shoot kids who might kill other kids. But then again, if your kids get hit by a belt, I damn sure hope one day they will tell you how that feels and then go on and disrespect you, all alone in your sad little nursing home.

...why would this “scare” anyone, much less conservative? Only in you liberal mind. The last shooter was liberal, Muslim, vegan who targeted apparent liberal YouTube employees. The liberal mindset only makes the world a more dangerous place for children. Liberal policies endanger everyone, especially the unborn and the poor. So give your sorry socialist politics a rest because you’re intellectually dishonest and inept

Nothing screams, "I'm mentally mature enough to debate US laws" than filling your bag with Tampax. Now quickly down-vote this to hide my free speech that doesn't line up with your beliefs.

Odd of being killed in a mass shooting 0.000001% - about the same as winning a state lottery. Even less for school kids. Odds of falling down stairs and dying in your own home are 3 times as likely. Perhaps some perspective? Clear backpacks are useless - but the stupidity belongs to those that are requiring them or creating 'security theatre'. All of this is moronic - so why are they requiring dumb and pointless things? My guess is to create this kind of press.

To bad yall did not have the clear back packs sooner. Could have prevented a kid from storing a 9" knife in their back pack. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/stoneman-douglas-high-school-students-arrested-for-bringing-weapons-to-school/

What gets me, these children want us to give up our right to bear arms but unwilling to take responsibility for their bad behavior. Let's face fact, you kids have NEVER sacrificed anything in your spoiled little lives. This is adulthood, GROW UP! Your problems are NOT my Problems. #Parkland, #TRUMP, besides, that clear backpack my end up saving your life because you can not bring a gun in one. Parkland BRATS!

You should grow up, because safer gun laws are needed. More incidents will happen with more guns (i.e arming teachers) than without. You're right, the 2nd amendment says we have the right to bear arms, but there's a point when owning an AR-15 isn't considered a weapon for self defense.
