Seller Thought He Ripped This Guy Off When He Sold A Rusty Knife For $3, He Will Regret It After Seeing This Video
What does it take to become the number one video on YouTube? It’s a question many vloggers have no doubt repeatedly asked themselves. But as one Japanese YouTuber named Jun just proved, all you need to hit the top is one rusty knife and a whole lot of polishing!
His unexpectedly popular (and oddly satisfying) video has already racked up more than 4.1 million hits since he uploaded it just 2 days ago, and once you see it you’ll understand why. He bought the traditional knife for $3, about ten times more than it was worth given its terrible condition, but determined to make the most of his purchase, Jun rolled up his sleeves and got to work cleaning, sharpening, and restoring the blade, and the end result is nothing short of incredible. See for yourself in the video below. It really is a cut above the rest.

Yes! I was watching the cat the entire time!

Phenomenal! People down vote because they can't stand to see someone else do good. Don't worry about it. I loved the video!
Hey, that's Jun from Rachel and Jun. Such a nice couple. I love their channel.
Glad he is getting the hits, but that is not an old knife. It is a high carbon blade with surface oxidation. When he scrubbed it the first time there was no pitting indicative of an older knife in the shape it was "Supposed" to be in. Also the handle looks almost brand new.I think the down votes were from people that realize it is a fake story. I own quite a few Japanese blades that will rust similarly if you wash it and put it in a drying rack without drying it and oiling it after washing. Still entertaining to watch.
He never said it was an old knife, just one that was in bad condition. Sounds like the seller didn't have high hopes for it , either.

Load More Replies...It was funny how much the cat was into watching the whole thing, but with all his work and patience, I'd say he got an excellent deal on this knife.
Wow, i would like to try this. I have wetstones. How important is a watching cat to do this?
Besides, he's got sharpening stones worth hundreds of dollars at least.
great job fixing up that awesome knife! guy obviously knows his stuff.
I have one knife from Ikea that's not quite sharp as it was.
Load More Replies...I polished a lot of old rusty knives and tools, the quality of the steel is much better than what you usually get today.
I just dont understand that knife iron is so rusty and scratched but the handler of knife is untouched - and its a wood. Shoudnt it be also damaged?
Nope. People have no idea how to care for carbon-steel blades. That knife could have been in the condition he found it in from as little as one trip through the dishwasher.
Load More Replies...There's a story of 2 master blade smiths arguing over who could make a sharper blade. The first said that his blades were so sharp that if you thrust one into a river and a leaf floated into it the leaf would be cut in two without disturbing the water. The second smith said that if his blame were to be thrust into a river and a leaf were to come floating down towards it that the leaf would alter it's course so as not to get cut. That leaf he cut didn't have anywhere to go!
First i thought he got a rusty old antique worth a few thousand.......what a bummer
Wow! That was incredible! I hate knives, but that is a beautiful knife! I'd lose my fingers for sure!
It's a traditional Awl/Chisel, for woodcarving. If you are not a wood carver, the unique shape doesn't mean anything to you. But if you are, the most impressive/interesting element is the writing on it. I wonder what it translates to, as most do not bear such inscriptions (probably a bargain for that alone).
Man, you've got Stones... Actually, I want to know what brand/where you got your Stones. I have some water stones, but you used yours to levels I haven't dreamed. Technique is important, but so is process... what stones/media did you use?
Jun you know that the knife is worth way more Than you paid.the marking on the blade will have given you that information. If indeed it's a true story....But your handling of the knife says quite clearly to me that this is your profession..The average man does not possess the skills to cut a flower. from a vegetable.....He would end up in hospital .with a knife as sharp as that.
He also posts cooking videos if i'm not wrong, but most are about cultural shock stuff and his lovely wife

The oxidisation on the knife was almost the same colour of the cats XD
Yeah !!! I am a fan now. Awesome job and beautiful cats ! On top of great deal of a knife !
Well done! And If I had a knife that sharp I am sure I would bleed to death ;)
A chef who knows the real thing when he sees it. It is not made of stainless steel, it's made of a softer steel that is easier to sharpen and polish precisely so it can be made to work like that. That quality of chef's knife is REALLY expensive!
This guy's channel is awesome!! I have sub his channel for over six months-love it. It is super fun to watch his clips. I was shocked to see this new clip. I am not surprised at his success. His wife also has a channel that is fun.
What liquid does he first use to clean the knife? Second what to he use to polish the knife to that mirror finish?
I wonder how much that knife is worth or what a new knife of tge same quality would cost
You are amazing with your knife sharpening skills. My knifes are horribly dull... I will buy your Japanese knife for $10 😁😉
Cat: All this time I thought he was trying to cook for me Bloody cain
Wow! That was fantastic. He did a beautiful job on that knife. I bet the seller is very sorry now. Love the cats also.l
Well done young man well done, just shows what a little cleaning and a good hand with a stone can do.
I can't fully agree this was a rip off. 3 bucks seems a fair price for this rusty knife.
wtf? that knife is so cool my ghad i feel sorry to the guy who sell $3 to him
That's so satisfying! Man, his videos overall have been satisfying (without even being intended to), and this takes the cake. As always, he did great
I don't know what's more impressive, how the knife looks when it's clean, how sharp it is, the cute cats or the little flowers he makes out of vegetable skins haha
I would love to have a knife like that! Great video and love your kitty!
Great channel by that guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=84&v=cofNVuXgjsA
I do this all the time, though rarely with a knife that good. Its' almost as if he deliberately surface-rusted a good knife to avoid pits, so he could stone and polish it for the video.
Who gives a f**k about a goddam knife??! I thought it was going to be 500 years old or something equally impressive. The cat however was far more interesting.
