Concerns over mental health are growing in the construction industry because it ranks second highest in suicide rates among major business sectors.

My daughter is 6'1 and in her dating photos she stands next to SUVs, fences, stop signs ,etc. And the people that meet he for first a first date are " OMG!!! You're TALL!!" I'm gonna tell her to take a pic in front on a brick wall for scale from now on.

This doesn't work with those influencers who distort their images beyond human recognition.
Multiple factors likely contribute to higher suicide rates and mental health concerns in the construction industry, including the following:
- Male-dominated industry, with men experiencing the highest suicide rates;
- Toughness and strength are valued, mental health conditions, or seeking help, may be seen as a personal weakness;
- Stigma and fear of consequences associated with mental health issues and help-seeking;
- Shame and fear of judgment;
- Chronic pain;
- Seasonal and cyclical work contributing to family and financial strain;
- High-stress and deadline-driven work;
- Limited job control;
- Long work hours including the potential for a large volume of overtime leading to fatigue
- Separation from family when working away from home.

It's important to label the rest too. I'd add "Not plug" to the multiplug, or "Anti-plug" as it's the opposite.
I bought a label maker years ago when I was reorganizing my office. I'm not going to lie, labeling things gets addicting (especially when it's odd stuff and you *think* you're funny) and it's hard to know when to stop.

In fact, according to research done by the Construction Industry Rehabilitation Plan (CIRP), 83 percent of construction industry workers have experienced some form of moderate to severe mental health issues.
Mental illness is now the leading cause of disability in the workplace, said CIRP executive director Vicky Waldron.

However, physical safety can't be ignored either. Many of the risks can lead to serious injuries and even fatalities. Our first shared apartment, straight out of a complete renovation, had this flaw in the bathroom. They'd just hauled a moveable shower stand in there, after first brooming the leftover tile shards into the sewer hole. Guess if it flooded over and into the entrance hall already on the first use. I emptied the sewer well at least, sure, but it didn't really help that much. About three or four complaints and a couple of months later, they replaced the flooring. Meanwhile, we kept on mopping. It was a student flat, so i suppose it didn't really matter to them if the structures maybe got a bit damaged.
That's by design. The lot is required to hold a certain amount of water before spilling into the storm drain.
We have this on our main balcony. The drain pipe is above grade, so every time it rains we get Lake Ralston to deal with. PS: we live in Oregon where it rains OFTEN.
That's why you don't level completely. A slight tilt toward drain workers wonders. If done correctly you never notice.
The only thing wrong with this is the order. “Tea, ..milk, no sugar”. There, fixed it.
Is no sugar without milk okay? Or do we have to have milk with sugar to not put in?
where's the "please, thank you!" ??? This reminds me of a guy that had the nerve to tell by BF that the coffee he was served tasted like s**t and that it had to be italian coffee (guy was italian) It was a good thing i wasnt at home 😂
Shouldn't that read: tea with milk, no sugar? I drink my beverages black, but this seems right.
I pity people who cannot savour any of the many tastes of the different teas.

Load More Replies...In 2021, OSHA’s most frequently cited job site violation was falling. The agency issued more than 5,400 violations for falls during that year, which totaled a combined $28.8 million in penalties. Construction is an inherently risky job. Most workers understand the potential dangers they can face. However, it’s easy to overlook basic safety protocols.
The bottom line is that these folks have it hard. So if anyone deserves a good laugh during a break at work, it's them.

Eh, I'm hunting to replace my own work boots and just saw one with two inch heels. Honestly considering buying them just for fun. And to test a theory, I didn't see regulations stating flat shoes....
Omg, how do you get that close to your head with that thing? Owwww....
We had a contractor working on our deck several years ago. Came home from work and saw the drill he was using laying on the concrete with blood spattered around it. Come to find out, he was trying to drill through a post from the opposite side with the drill bit facing towards his head. The drill bit slipped and hit him between the eyes. Could have been worse I guess.
That is going to be about safety. Can't have long poles flapping about when walking among the public.
Also came to say this. Some sites have narrow twisting routes with a lot of crews running around, so anything over a certain length requires someone on either end to make sure no one gets it in the face
Load More Replies...As stupid as this looks, it's actually safer for every person and inanimate object on that walk. Two people won't swing it around as readily as one person would.

In the US if the painters are in a union its against union rules for them to move that stuff.
Oh man.. Took me so long to figure it out! Thought the darker color on the wall was the shadow from the material v_v
The one good thing is it's just a layer of undercoat. So easy to touch up once the tiles are moved. Then you'd do a second layer of undercoat over the whole lot and no one will know the difference once it's painted.
haaa this is me cleaning at work when they have been told a 1000 times to clean up before i'm there and they still dont :-D
Depends. Here you are supposed to clear the walls when you want them painted. So I do get it actually. It is actually not their job to clean house first. Unless they have put down the stuff there themselves of course....
Then you either find someone to clear the stuff away or you don't start doing the painting.

They're referring to the direction of the door handle. It should point inward, away from the jamb. In this case, no foul because it opens inward, thus not creating an obstruction.
Look at the metal part that goes into the wall when you latch it. It's backwards. Anyone can use a credit card to open the door
Just make the structure creating the shadow taller, then drinking time will come sooner! /j
If it was a nokia, taking it out would reduce the structural strength of the building by 50%.

Can't remember when I last saw a £50 note. We don't seem to use them any more.
Those 50's look accurate to the old £50 notes that had Boulton and Watt on them (since they now look completely different and have Alan Turing on them) but a part of me is saying this is fake because despite the fact I have, on numerous occasions, drawn more than 50, or even more than a hundred etc, I have never in my life seen a £50 in person lmao xD
Well, the good thing about this photo is that there is no plumber's crack!
Yup, sometimes I get good advice and other times a few extra hours if pay.

Theoretically it is correct but I don’t think that’s what they meant bro 💀

Someone who clearly isn't certified as a "part P competent person" and doesn't understand wet zones. For non-Brits: you are not allowed sockets ANYWHERE in a bathroom (apart from 110v shaver sockets which have a different plug design from the usual UK plug) and definitely not above a bath or shower, where you're limited to 12v appliances only.
Illegal in the UK, but other countries such as Malta and Cyprus also use our three pin sockets.

This is outside the house!!! Supposedly installed the WRONG DIRECTION! Windows to open and close from INSIDE the house! Local criminal says"Thanks for helping us out!"
No, this is very clearly an outside door, you'll note that you can't see the handles to open the windows because they're on the inside.

there's a properly built wall already in place... at least copy the darn thing
Reminds me of a remodeling show I once saw in germany: A couple was mad at their building company because they build their house absolutely shoddy. Amongst other things the basement ceiling was too low to be used as bed rooms, which they desperately needed. So, what did the workers of the show do? they sawed every wall all around through and lifted the whole building up a couple dozen centimeters.
Looks like they are going to add a roof and made space for the joist
Probably the guy next to them is remodeling the whole house. I thing that is smart actually.

I'm fairly sure this is from the village I live in. There was a balcony there but it got condemned as the one next door fell down.
Probably needs keys or something to move it....better be pis***d about the ones whose job it actually was. Why blame the painters all the time ? The painter may not even know how to move the **** thing.
Maybe the painter should have told someone to move it before painting???
Load More Replies...Used to see this type of "not my job-ism" a lot on strongly union work sites. Union contracts meant you didn't move anything not part of your work. "just work around it, we'll fix it up later."
