We Traveled To Croatia To Find Game Of Thrones Filming Locations In Real-Life
Game Of Thrones is definitely the most popular TV series of all times. And no wonder – with the skilfull writer George RR Martin and HBO behind it all, it sure is a show-stopper. Or heart-stopper. And, of course, if you are a fan of something this huge, sometimes you have to turn on the hardcore mode – just like this Panda and her husband did. They’ve spent their summer vacation in Croatia tracing the real-life Game Of Thrones filming locations.
Some places from the GOT map were really easy to find – Dubrovnik, for example, is just like one large filming set. But other Game Of Thrones locations (like streets in Split, Croatia) were harder to spot. They either required long searches or were stumbled upon by a lucky chance. All that wandering was really rewarding in the end!
So if you were wondering where is Game Of Thrones filmed, this compilation of filming locations will answer the question. Though more countries add to this list – Iceland, Ireland, Morocco, just to name a few – Game Of Thrones Croatian settings mostly depict King’s Landing, the most important city in all of the Seven Kingdoms.

Share on FacebookI hope they expand the filming to other ex-Yu countries, because they all are gems.
I doubt they will ever be needing to film in Serbia. Two reasons: 1) no one is lobbying to promote usable locations and 2) usually they do not need to change winning formula, once they have business connections where you started filming, it is way easier just to extend deals rather than making new ones. That is why they talked so much about new location they got in Spain (if I am not mistaken).
Load More Replies...Nice article. I also wrota artile about game of thrones real filming locations. You are welcome to read it :) http://10travelideas.com/10-game-of-thrones-filming-locations/
Amazing blog post!! i want to create all these pics when I go!! Youve done all the work for the rest of us! cheers!
Now I realize why each season of GOT takes so long to produce and is only 10 episodes long. They have to do a lot of digital enhancements in each scene. They do an amazing job!
Such a profound difference between photos. I have no idea what Game of Thrones is, movie or whatever but the dramatization of the sites makes them come alive to the Nth degree. Beautiful.
I live in Croatia and I'm a huge fan of the Game of Thrones and didn't even realized that scenes are from my country. Although i knew they were filming in Dubrovnik xD
Hello!Would you recommend a tour or find these places on your own?
